WHITE HEAD NOTES
------

      Paul Walters engineer on "National IV", spent Christmas visiting Mr. and Mrs. Alden Munroe.
      Dr. P.A. McGarry was called to White Head to attend Mrs. Bessie MacDonald who received severe injuries in a fall last week.
      Mr. W.D. MacMillan motored to Canso on Tuesday bringing back with him his sister, Betty MacMillan, to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. MacMillan.
      We are very glad to report that the boats had a few more fishing days this last week and hope that the "winding up" will not be too soon.
     S.S. Chedabucto, Captain Cooper, arrived here on Thursday evening on his trip east. Mr. Wilson, purser, is being relieved by the steward and is spending Christmas at his home at Barrington Passage.
      A Christmas treat was held at Trueman Munroe's home on Thursday afternoon for the children of the Sunday School and in the evening for the older folk.
      Miss Lulu Barss spent the week-end at the Parsonage on the way home to New Harbour on the "Chedabucto" via Drum Head.
      Howard Myers of Cole Harbour was a visitor in White Head at the parsonage last Sunday.
      Sam Porter, Alber Uloth and Murray Munroe returned to their work in Canso after having spent Christmas at their homes here.
      Mr. Charles Duncan was a business visitor to Canso during the week.
      Miss Annie Armitage is spending a few days of her vacation visiting friends at Cole Harbour.
     Mrs. Andrew Armsworthy of Canso spent a few days visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Harris.
      Mr. Harold Worth of Guysboro is spending a few days in White Head visiting his aunt, Mrs. Duncan MacDonald.
      Mr. W.S. Harris made a business trip to Guysboro on the S.S. Chedabucto.
      Mrs. Fred Harris and daughter, Blanche are visitng in Canso at the home of her mother, Mrs. Andrew Armsworthy.
      Miss Alice Armsworthy who is attending Normal School at Truro, is spending her holidays with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Armsworthy.
      Mr. Fred Harris was a business visitor in Canso on Saturday.

      Harry Gosbee who has been working at Sunny Brae, is spending Christmas with his family here.
      Capt. Wilbur Myers, of the A. & R. Loggie Co., Mulgrave spent Christmas with his family.
      Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cook on the birth of a baby girl - Laura Gertrude.
      The following is the programme given by the Cooks Cove School under the direction of Miss Hazel Jenkins. The programme was very much enjoyed by all present, at the close of which each scholar received apples, a bag of candy and a gift from their teacher.

LARRY'S RIVER

     Mrs. Mary J. Gerrior is confined to her home with illness.
      Among the people who have returned home are Peter Avery, Alphonso Pellerin, Eugene Pellerin, Dan Avery, Martin Pellerin, James Marrette, Joseph Marrette, Albert Pellerin and Eldred Richard.
     Mr. Alvin Pellerin arrived home last week from Boston and was accompanied by Percy Pellerin from Guysboro.
      Miss Bertha Pellerin, teacher at Pomquet and Jerome Pellerin, teacher at Monk's Head, have returned home for the holidays.
      Mr. MacCollum, engineer, will resume duties Monday on the completion of the foot-bridge.

SOUTH RIVER LAKE

------

      An enjoyable concert was held in Lakedale School Friday evening December 20th, under the management of the teacher Miss Mary C. Sullivan. All pupils of the section took part.
      The tree and school was decorated in an artistic manner.
     Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John McPherson on the arrival of a daughter Catherine Anna.
      John Sullivan and Hugh J. Sullivan were on a business trip to Country Harbor. They report very good roads as the trucks for the Guysboro Railroad are very busily engaged hauling their provisions to Country Harbor and Erinville.

      John Callahan and Ernest Jordan are engaged in sawing their pulpwood at Argyle.

      Angus McIsaac was confined in the house with a bad cold for a few days.
