Dec. 26th.--Just a few notes from our little community.
The weather is getting very disagreeable now, nothing but snow and rain.
Mr. Havelock Webber, of Tor Bay went to New Harbor Friday last, on a business trip.
Mr. John Webber paid a short visit to Larry's River, Saturday.
Mr. Philip Webber also paid a short visit accompanied by Mrs. William T. Gammon.
Sorry to report some of the boys and girls of Tor Bay on the sick list with a bad cold. We wish them all a speedy recovery.
Rev. Mr. Frezen held service in Tor Bay on December the 9th.
Catherine B. Chisholm spent the ninth and tenth in Larry's River.
Capt. James Perline paid a visit to tor Bay, Sunday, accompanied by Miss Chisholm, teacher, Tor Bay.
Mr. and Mrs. William G. Webber paid a flying trip to Tor Bay Point, Sunday last.
Our school is progressing very well, with our new teacher, Catherine B. Chisholm, Meadow Green.
Mr. Roy Williams passed through this place Sunday last.
Mr. Walter Sangster, who is building the Methodist church, has gone home for the present.
Mr. Randolph Gammon padi a flying visit to Drum Head.
Mrs. Charlie O. Gammon has returned home, after spending some time with her mother in New Harbour.
Mr. Havelock Gammon and his mother returned home after spending a week at Half Island Cove. We are all glad to see them home again.

COOK'S COVE, GUYS.CO.

Dec.--26th. Most of the men here are busy hauling wood, as the snow this year is very uncertain. Here today and gone tomorrow.
Mr. Fred Fulton with his men, Alex and Chesley Cruikshanks and Messrs. Robert and William Steward has returned home with their motor truck where they had a contract of loading the four master "Theoline," with deals from Cook's Cove. While here they stopped at Percy J. Peart's. Wish the job had been longer as they are greatly missed.
The smelt season is on and some very good catches reported, already.
Misses Mildred Hendsbee and Miss Clara Shea made a flying trip to Cook's Cove.
Mr. Wm. Cunningham and his mother drove to Cook's Cove Sunday to see Mr. Levi Myers, Mrs. Cunningham's brother, who has been sick for the past few weeks.
Mr. George Cooke of west Roachvale has returned home from Cook's Cove. He was employed hauling deal to Guysborough. While at Cook's Cove he stopped with his brother-in-law, Percy Peart.
Mr. Duncan McDonald drove through here yesterday with a nice horse he purchased from J.P. Shea. We all wish him good luck with her.
Sorry to report Mrs. John Taylor not feeling well. She left Sunday for Antigonish to see a specialist.
Mrs. Albert Horton called on Mrs. John Taylor Saturday last.
Mr. Percy Peart has purchased a new horse "Harry good Boy" Pacer. Hoping for lots of good ice.
Mr. John Jones Jr., has purchased a nice little horse from George P. Cook, of Roachvale.

Valley and Mr. John Kenny, of Caledonia, were the guests of Mrs. John Flynn, Sunday.
Miss Alice Walsh spent a few days with her aunt, Mrs. John Walsh, who has been indisposed. We are glad to report that she is recuperating.
Mr. and Mrs. P. Kelley spent a day in town recently.
Miss Mary Kelley, Roachvale, was visiting friends here last week.
Mr. Alfred McPherson spent Sunday here, the guest of his sister, Mrs. M. Flynn. He was accompanied on his return trip by his two little daughters.
Mr. Wm. Rogers has returned home after spending a week with his aunt, Mrs. John Morrison.
Mr. James Sullivan, Queensport, is the guest of his sister, Mrs. Patrick Walsh.

EIGHT ISLAND LAKE, GUYS.CO.

Dec. 26th-- There is a big lumbering business going on in this place this winter. There are four camps running at present.
There were quite a number of the boys from the lumber camps left for home to spend their Christmas.
Miss Gertrude Jordon has returned home after spending several months down at Port Hood Island. Her many friends were glad to see her return.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Seward Feltmate Nov. 27th, Gordon.
Mrs. Lydia Hattie and son, Willie spent sunday visiting friends in Eight Island Lake.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Feltmate on the arrival of a daughter. Mrs. Feltmate has gone, spending some weeks with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Arthur Feltmate, of Trenton. We hope to see her home soon.
A very pleasant evening was spent in Goshen last Wednesday at a Xmas tree.
Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Feltmate have gone to spend the winter months with their daughter and son in Portland, Maine. Mrs. Feltmate has undergone an operation since she went there. We all hope for her speedy recovery.
Mr. Robert Sinclair and Miss Viola Jordon, of this place, were united in Holy Matrimony by Rev. Joseph Kirk at East River St. Mary's on Dec. 13th. The bride looked charming in a navy dress of radium lace and canton crepe. They were attended by Mr. Edward Sinclair, of Goshen, and Miss Gertrude Jordon, the bride's sister. On returning home to Mr. Harry Hattie's where they will reside for the present they were served with a very nice luncheon. Their many friends wish them a happy married life.

Dec. 26th.--We have had a very open fall and winter so far, but it is getting more like winter now.
Our river is very slow about freezing up this season, as there has only been one night of skating and the lower part is not frozen yet.
All are glad to report that Mrs. Luddington is home from the hospital and is improving greatly.
Rev. Frieson was with us on the 10th of Dec. both morning and evening and preached sermons which was greatly attended.

Dec. 26th.--Seeing no items from our little town, thought I would send a few to let the world know we are still living.
Mr. Alex Harris, of Queensport, spent a week visiting Mr. Everette Snider of this place. Come back.....

Alfred Fulton, who has been studying law at Dalhousie, is spending his Christmas vacation at his home.
Erna Desbarres arrived home December 22nd to spend the Christmas vacation. She has been at Mount Allison College.
School will be closed for two weeks beginning Friday. The Primary and Intermediate departments held a delightful concert Friday morning.
John Prevost, a colored man, was burned to death when his house burned from unknown cause on December 16th. An inquest was held on December 15th and 16th in the Guysborough Court house and verdict was accidental death. The funeral was held the afternoon of December 16th.
Miss Beryl Lipsette, who was teaching school in Halifax, arrived home Saturday to spend Christmas with her parents. Stewart and Austin Fulton, who have been attending Mount Allison College, are at home for their vacation.
Miss Helen M. Tory of Wainright spent the week end at her friend's, Mrs. George Scott.
The S.S. Westport waited for the train Saturday evening to accommodate the Christmas visitors.
Clinton Scott who was attending Agricultural College arrived home Friday for his vacation.
Walter Scott of the Royal Bank who was attending the latter part of his vacation at Truro with his brother Clinton also returned home on Friday.
