Funeral
services for John D. Cavanaugh, of Reseda, will be held today at 11 a.m.
at the Oakwood Chapel, Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth. Mr. Cavanaugh of 6931 Amigo Ave., was killed Saturday evening near Moorpark when he fell from an auto-drawn, one-man kite being towed by his brother Raymond. He was 42. The two brothers had operated Cavanaugh's Welding Shop in Reseda for about eight years. Surviving Mr. Cavanaugh are his widow Deon and four children, Mrs. Betty Welsh of Canoga Park, Mrs. Penny Trout of Simi Valley, Mrs. Patricia Thompson of Reseda and Richard Hackstock of Simi Valley. In addition to his brother Raymond, Mr. Cavanaugh is survived by his sisters Mrs. Betty Benson of Colorado and Mrs. Mary Herting of San Fernando, and brothers Tom of Oxnard, Al of Oxnard, James of Woodland Hills and Bill of Van Nuys. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren. Born in Grand Junction, Colo., Mr. Cavanaugh came to the Los Angeles area 20 years ago. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. |
