Rocky Comfort Guide: John Goostree was looking after the interest of the Rocky's flour mill at Cassville and Exeter, Monday.

Rocky Comfort Guide: John Webb, of Oklahoma, a brother of our townsman, B. I. Webb, visited relatives in the vicinity, this week.

Pioneer News Items: Haley Bivens is visiting at the Henry Whittington's.

Pioneer News Items: Alta Phillips died at her home in Pioneer on July 4th at 10 a. m. at the age of 16 years. She had been ill a long time, and was prepared for the end. She spoke of death without fear, and told how to conduct her burial. She was an earnest Christian and a member of the C. E. Her funeral service was preached by Rev. Combs and her remains were interred at Mt. Olive. "He giveth his beloved sleep."

Judge Frost married E. H. Perkins of Iola, Kan., and Miss Olive Denton at the Recorder's office, Tuesday. They left for Iola on the evening train.

Fred Williamson, Amos Brock, Geo. Willis, John Blythe and W. H. Holman of Shell Knob, were here this week.

Jas. C. Tucker of Golden is seeking employment with the Frisco at Monett. Success to him.

Johnny Montgomery has purchased the Lamb & Hatfield resident and has assumed charge. He will be glad to have your patronage.

Henry Wimsatt and Tom Fleetwood of near Monett, were in town Monday, attending Probate Court.

Estate of James Madden, dec'd; C. A. Patterson was appointed Administrator. Bond filed and approved. J. C. Fawver and G. W. Finn were appointed witnesses.

Estate of Elizabeth D. Dilworth, dec'd proof of will established; Jacob England was made executor and gave a $200. bond. Fred Rausch and Wm. Osborn were appointed witnesses. Inventory and appraisement filed.

Estate of T. J. Stockton, dec'd inventory and appraisement filed and approved.

On July 13th an adjourned term of court was held with the following proceedings:

Estate of L. D. Blankenship, dec'd; the appointment of John  R. Blankenship as administrator on June 11, 1903, was confirmed; bond approved.

Estate of James C. Dempsey, minor; the order revoking the appointment of Wm. Borman as guardian, made June 22, was confirmed.

Estate of Thos. Wilder; dec'd, order made approving proceeding had in vacation in said estate. Same order made in estate of Jas. Madden, dec'd. Same in estate of Elizabeth Dilworth, dec'd.

Estate of Grace Eyler, minor; petition filed asking for the sale of personal property belonging to said minor, located at Sapulpa, I. T.; order made.

Estate of A. J. Henderson, dec'd, demand of Barry Co., Bank for $662.51 allowed in 5th class.

Estate of T. Dunlap, dec'd, demand of Barry Co., Bank for $37.95, allowed in 5th class.

Estate of T. J. Stockton, dec'd petition of widow asking that her homestead be set off, granted; H. J. Short, E. J. Thomas and Richard Adams were appointed commissioners to set off and homestead.

Estate of A. F. Walker, dec'd widow asked that there be no administration, and that all property be turned over to her. Granted.

Estate of A. J. Henderson, dec'd; demand of D. L. Mitchell for $1.00 allowed to 2nd class. same of J. R. Sullivan of $1.50 allowed in 5th class. Same of David Marshall for $96.54, allowed in 5th class.

Estate of J. M. Marbut, dec'd annual settlement made and approved.

Estate of James Madden, dec'd; demand of F. M. Horn for $13. allowed in first class.

Estate of Thos. McGuire dec'd demand for $53.50 allowed in 1st class.

Estate of E. B. Breese, dec'd demand of Callaway & Breese for $15. 50 allowed in first class.

Estate of L. D. Oxford, dec'd ordered that all notes returned by executrix at her final settlement, belonging to said estate be turned over to F. M. and E. E. Oxford, to whom they were given by will of deceased.

Estate of R. E. Oxford, minor, final settlement made and said guardian and curator and the sureties pm her bond were discharged from further liability.

Estate of Abner Crunk, dec'd Mary A. Crunk was appointed administratrix, a $1,000 bond was filed and approved. B. L. Evans and W. A. Weaver were appointed witnesses.

Estate of Charles H. Browning, dec'd will established, J. T. Browning was appointed executor; a $3,000 bond was filed and approved. T. Fleetwood and Henry Winsatt were appointed witnesses.

Estate of J. C. Sellers, dec'd; collateral inheritance tax was assessed against said estate amounting to $79.50.

Estate of Thomas Gladden, dec'd; proof of will established. R. B. Gladden was appointed executor.

Purdy News: Ed Ambrose and lady are at home from a trip through the Indian T'y.

Reuben Baker has typhoid fever.

Purdy News Items: Homer Bryant, a 15 year old boy of near Cassville, was arrested on a charge of petit larceny made by Gurley Bro's. He had taken a number of knives from the above named firm and was selling them over town.

Mayflower News Items:  Jas. Muture and family will start for Claremore, I. T., in a few weeks.

Mayflower News: Miss Martha Morgan has been visiting her sister, Miss Anna Morgan.

Mayflower News: Elder Lewis of the Church of Christ held a two weeks meeting at Maple Grove. He is a good preacher.

Mayflower News: J. P. Hall who has been visiting here, has returned to his home in Senett?, Okla. Jesse Ivey and Don Stephens and families returned home with him. 

Purdy News: Charles C. Dale died at the home of his son, Wm., 2 miles west of Purdy, last week, age 85. He was the father of Mrs. Dr. Hawkins of Monett. The remains were laid to rest in the Maddy Cemetery. He was a good citizen.

B. Abernathy and John Banks of Capps Creek township, spent a few days on Roaring River last week fishing.

Fred Johnson was arrested Friday of last week, on two charges field by Prosecuting Attorney Kemp, for selling liquor. He gave bond for his appearance at court.

Geo. Conner was acquitted of murder in McDonald County last week. Conner was acquitted to bail at the place last spring by Judge Pepper.

The case of State vs. S. W. Pierce of Monett, charged with selling liquors Sunday, in three cases was tried recently before Squire Lauderdale at Exeter. There was an acquittal in two cases and one conviction. An appeal was taken in this case.

J. H. Hill died at Eureka Springs last week of paralysis. For a long time he was the proprietor of the Hill transfer and telephone line at the Springs. He also negotiated the deal for Barry County Telephone Company when it was transferred to Southwest MO Telephone Co.

Dr. Thiele and family of this city and Silas McQueen and family of the Oliver's Prairie County, spent several days fishing on Flat Creek last week.

A wagon loaded with wheat run over John Burton's leg at Exeter last week without breaking any bones. He is able to be around.

J. B. Hurst of Washburn sold? G. W. Cowan of Capps Creek Township 73 head of cattle last week.

Otis Farwell and family of the Roaring River county are visiting in Greene County.

Bud Fipps' mother of the Pasley neighborhood is very low with consumption. She is 69 years old.  

The case of State vs. Jas. Black, charged with murder, says continued to next term at Sherman, Texas. John Black, father of James returned to his home on Rock Creek.

Miss Flossie Legg of Mobile, Ala., is visiting her uncle, Chas. Jones and family, west of Exeter. She is an accomplished musician.

The death of Fred Caldwell of Pierce City, should be a warning to all young men not to go around with a chip on their shoulder and tanked up on booze. It will come their time some day if kept up.

Alpha Allman of Aurora was killed in the railroad yards at Monett, Wednesday night, by getting in the way of freight cars while being switched.

Charles Bryan Baker died at the home of his parents, 3? miles east of town, Monday evening, Aug 24, 1903 of congestion of the brain. On Aug 29 he got his right leg broken in a hay baler and it is thought a that brought on the brain trouble. He was born Mar 8, 1880, just southeast of town and has always lived in this vicinity. He was an excellent young man, loved by all of his acquaintance, and a leader of the young people in his neighborhood. He was very energetic and a good worker. The remains were laid to rest Tuesday evening in the Horner Cemetery, attended by a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. J. T. Brattin conducted very impressive funeral service at the church. The funeral was under the auspices of the Modern Woodmen of America, the Cassville Camp conducting the service at the grave. Charlie was devoted to his parents that makes it the harder to see him go. Sweet peace to your memory, Charlie.

G. D. Montgomery's little babe received quite a burn Monday by turning hot grease over on itself.

Miss Leona Rumbo, [sic] visited her uncle John Browning, Saturday night. [Rumbaugh]

Claude Upton shot Eugene Jarrett in the mouth, at Aurora, Tuesday, knocking out some teeth. The bullet lodging in the jaw and was removed.

Born to Jos. Ray and lady of near Purdy on the 5th, a daughter.

Born to C. A. Arbuckle and lady of near town, a son on the 3rd.

Sam Morgan purchased A. Amire's farm, 4 miles out on the Shell Knob and Vila road this week. [Viola?]

Mrs. T. P. Mooney and Mrs. Chas. Traylor of Washburn, visited in this city Tuesday.

A. J. Anderson and lady left Tuesday morning on a visit to Stroud, Okla.

Lem Spangler's saw mill near Eureka Springs, burned Monday.

John A. Reed of Afton, I. T., was a witness here this week.

Married, Wednesday evening in the parlor of Hotel Barry by Rev. E. A. Frost, Robert Houston and Miss Maud Brooks of McDonald Township. The impressive ceremony was witnessed by a number of friends of this city, after which the happy couple were congratulated by all present. The groom and bride with relations and friends partook of supper at Hotel Barry. Mr. Houston and lady left on the evening train for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Stinnett at Neosho. We hope for them all the success and happiness there is in the this life.

After an illness of three weeks, Mrs. Mary A. Matlock, wife of our esteemed friend, Jas. Matlock, died at her home in this city, Tuesday morning at 12:30? a.m., aged 68 years, 6 months, and 2 days. Mrs. Matlock was born in East Tennessee, March 6, 1835 and she and her husband were married in that state. In 1859, they moved to Texas and came to Barry County in 1865, and have residence here ever since. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church for 49 years, and had lived a consistent member of that church. All of her children living were with her when she died. They are Preston Matlock, of near town, Mrs. Sam P. Mitchell, Wm. Matlock and her granddaughter, the Misses Braid. She instructed her  relatives about how she should be dressed and arranged all the details for her funeral and stated she was not afraid to died it was God's will. Revs. J. C. Sills and Ed Chapell conducted the funeral services Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church,, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cassville Cemetery. She was an excellent wife and loving mother and a splendid citizen.

Married at the residence of Mrs. Eliza Stubblefield's 2 1/2 miles out on the Washburn road, Wednesday evening, by Rev. J. T. Brattin, Geo. Brandt and Miss Winnie Wertz. This is a splendid couple and we hope for their success.
