Obituary: Mrs. Annie Gardner Ellston was born April 25th, 1846 at Navarre, Stark County, Ohio, and died at the home of her son, C. N. Ellston of Exeter, MO, March 18th, 1907. In early life she professed faith in Christ and became a member of the Presbyterian Church with her father who was known in Navarre as a devoted Sunday School worker. Later in life she joined the German Reformed Church (Presbyterian) and lived a member of that church. Her life has been spent in Southwest MO for the past twenty years, where she was known by multitude of friends. For many years her health has been very poor and for several months previous to her death her suffering was intense, though she bore it with the fortitude of a truly Christian heart. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ sustained her and gave her peace of soul, and when she saw that death was coming she expressed her readiness to go. A son and daughter, two brothers and two sisters and three grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of a beautiful life. Their sadness is shared by a large circle of friends, who for many years have been acquainted with Mrs. Ellston and who have known her only to love and respect her. May the fragrance of her good deeds and of kind heart remain with us many years to inspire us to nobler lives. The funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church and she was laid to rest in the Maple Wood Cemetery at Exeter, to await the call of Him who triumphed over the grave. A Friend. [Research Note: It seems rather particular that some one evidently thought that the Presbyterian Church was the German Reform Church.]
