Nobbin Ridge News: James Montgomery and sister, Miss Eva, left a few days ago for Belpre, Kansas, where their brother Maurice is located.

Mineral Spring News: Joe England went to Butterfield Tuesday to take his brother-in-law, Chas. Kitchen, home. Miss Fannie Kitchen came back with him and will clerk in his store.

Shell Knob News: Mrs. Nancy Skaggs of Marion, Ill., is visiting her brother, John Elrod.

Seligman and Vicinity News: Mrs. Savory received the sad news of her father's death at his home in Chicago on Monday.

Seligman and Vicinity News: Mr. and Mrs. Noah Anderson's little daughter, Helen, was voted the prettiest baby at the baby show.

Exeter News: Born to Elmer Holt and wife June 28, a 12 pound boy.

Exeter News: Mrs. Harges and daughter, and Mrs. Powell are visiting their mother, Mrs. McMahan, this week.

Exeter News: Mrs. John Reese, wife of the Frisco pump man, died at their home, here Wednesday morning of last week, and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery Thursday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Shemwell. She left four small children.

Eagle Rock News: Geo. Dell and Floyd Garner have gone to Garden City Kan., to work.

Eagle Rock News: R. W. Whittington will soon have his new store building ready to move into.

Eagle Rock News: Edward Easley has been quite sick this week.

Eagle Rock News: Mrs. Martha Curry is staying this week with her daughter, Mrs. Josie Easley.

Purdy News: While driving a binder in his wheat field one day this week, M. O. Trantham received a stroke from lighting and was thrown from his binder. The team became frighten and ran away dragging Mr. Trantham some distance before he was rescued. While Mr. Trantham was badly shocked and bruised unless later complications set in he will be able to resume work in a few days.

Forrest Grove News: We are sorry to hear of the serious illness of Mrs. James Whitesell of North Missouri. They once lived near the Grove.

Hunter Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and Jessie Sheperd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Sheperd, were united in marriage Saturday. A. G. Walker performing the ceremony. The REPUBLICAN joins in best wishes for lives of usefulness and success. [Shepherd]

Mrs. C. McArtor died at the home of Charles McArtor, north of town, Monday, July 4. Funeral services were held Wednesday and interment made in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McArtor was a deaf mute. Mr. McArtor is also deaf. For some time they have make their home in Cassville. 

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. George King, northwest of town, June 28.

John Bayless, sixteen year old son of M. R. Bayless, was placed under arrest Tuesday charged with taking a watch from a show case at Barry Hotel. He sold the watch to a party at the fair grounds. It was the time piece concerning which A. C. Hailey and W. T. Ayers had a law suit a few months ago in the justices court and which suit is now pending on appeal in the circuit court. The watch is valued at $35. Hearing is set for Saturday.

Purdy News: An automobile party from Monett was badly delayed Sunday night by a tire going bad and they camped by the road until the wee hours of the night endeavoring to repair damages.

Mt. Sinai News: Mrs. Columbia Howard's baby daughter is quite ill at A. V. Neeley's.

Butler Hollow News: Miss Estella Beaver visited her aunt, Mrs. Q. A. Pendergraft Sunday.

Kings Prairie News: Marion and John Tate are riding on new rubber tired buggies.

New Salem News: Finis Easley is hauling lumber from Seligman to build a new house on his farm.

New Salem News: We are sorry to hear of the death of G. W. Pendergraft.

Dog Hollow News: The little child of Mr. and Mrs. Eb Turner was buried at Sparks Thursday. The funeral services were conducted by Bro. Plummer and Sister Boyd. The bereaved have our sympathy.

Eva Pearl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Marshall, died Sunday, July the 17, after a lingering illness of typhoid fever, age 15 years, 9 months, and 17 days.

The little child of Mr. and Mrs. Eb Turner of Ft. Scott, Kan., died last week. Its remains were brought to the county Thursday and buried at Sparks Cemetery.

New Site News: Mrs. Oscar Higgins who has been ill of typhoid fever is slowly recovering.

New Site News: Word comes to us that C. A. Rumbaugh who moved to his claim in New Mexico is returning bringing his family through in an emigrant wagon they say they have raised no crops this year and have no prospect of any as they have had no rain.  [Research Note: Charles Augustus Rumbaugh and his wife Sarah Evaline Mayfield both died in Melrose, N. M., several years later. Charles was a son of Solomon and Sarah (Browning) Rumbaugh.]

Gunter News: Born to Troy Williamson and wife, a girl.

Union Valley News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Bent Smith, July 15, a fine girl.

Fields News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Snow, a son.

Seligman News: John Favwer and wife were called to the bedside of their son, Clarence, who is very low with typhoid.

Lone Elm News: Miss Della Stockton and Jim Bruce were married at the home of the bride and have gone to Green Forest, Ark., where they will make their home.

Mineral Springs News: Mrs. Carrie Birkes and children came in from Oklahoma to visit her sister, Mrs. John Ryan.

Mineral Springs News: Dell Madison's house burned Monday forenoon while the family were away from home. It was indeed a severe loss to them as nothing was saved except the clothes they wore.

Twins, a boy and a girl, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Anderson, of Monett, Thursday. They lived only a few hours. Interment was made at Oak Hill Cemetery, this city, Friday.

Misses Anna, Stella and Mabel Boucher went to Seligman last Saturday to attend the funeral of their brother-in-law, G. W. Pendergraft. They were accompanied home Saturday night by Mrs. Pendergraft and two children, who will remain indefinitely. Pierce City Leader.

A daughter arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Dotson of Monett, July 21.

A daughter arrived arrived last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Williamson near Butterfield.

Born to Emmett Landsdown and wife, near Purdy, July 16, a daughter.

Dr. R. R. Gladden of Purdy was here Saturday in the Bennett insane case.

Daniel Pendergraft died July 21, at his home near Seligman of paralysis, aged about 60 years. He had been in bad health for some time. Daniel Pendergraft was a brother of the late G. W. Pendergraft. The two brothers died within a week of each other. Three brothers of the family have died during the past year.

The Monett papers chronicle the death of Hugh Meadow, a car inspector for the Frisco at Monett, Monday. He was knocked down and run over by an engine in the yards, killing him instantly. He had lived in Monett only a short time coming there from Alma, Arkansas. He leaves a wife and one child.

A. W. Madison living about eight miles northeast of Cassville on the Galena road lost his house and all his household goods by fire between seven and eight o'clock Monday morning. Madison and family were away from home at the time. His wife had driven with him to the Hankins saw mill and were at the mill when they received a phone message that their house was on fire. The building with all its contents were in ashes when the family got home. There was no insurance. The fire is supposed to be the work of an incendiary.

Elsey Bennett of Purdy was pronounced insane by the county court, Monday after an investigation of the case had been made. Bennett is 38 years of age and single. He is a son of D. G. Bennett of Purdy and has been apparently deranged for several months. His condition became worse and he had been considered dangerous.

Gene Frost and Chas. Eden of Seligman and Kellis Frost of Washburn were placed under arrest and brought to Cassville Monday, charged with assault. Miss Nora Reid, sixteen year old daughter of J. W. Reid living near Seligman, is the prosecuting witness. The boys gave bond. Their preliminary hearing is set for August 4, in Squire Plattenburg's court.

R. J. Davenport died last week at his home at Clovis, New Mex., instead of C. R. Davenport as sated in another column.

Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Galloway attended the funeral of Mrs. Martha Wilson in Osa, Tuesday.

Butler Hollow News: W. L. Williams died at his home at Wayne, Monday, July 25, of heart failure. He formerly resided near the Roaring River spring. The bereaved one has our heartfelt sympathy.

Fairview News: According to the Stella Record Homer McGuire who lives on Elk Horn had his arm broken and a hold kicked in his skull in a run away Tuesday. The horses were hitched to a hay rake. Both bones in the fore-arm were broken. He is getting along nicely according to the physician who dressed his wounds.

New Site News: Asa Wormington is improving his farm by the erection of a new home.

New Site News: C. S. Haddock and family visited relatives and friends at Cassville and Eagle Rock last week.

New Site News: Elder Luther Carlin attended the ministers and deacons meeting at Clear Creek Church Friday and Saturday.

New Site News: Chas. Curry has sold his farm to Rich. Teel and will leave for Colorado in October.

Shell Knob News: John Cooper is visiting his daughter at Valeda, Kansas.

Flat Creek News: Friday evening at the home of her son, S. A. Peck, Grandma Clevenger died and was buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Saturday evening.

Eagle Rock News: J. C. Whittington bought a bunch of cattle of J. W. Reed last week of Johnston.

Lewis Smith of Exeter was a Cassville visitor Saturday. He is one of he county's pioneers, having come to this county and settled on Stone's Prairie in 1855.

Forest Grove News: J. W. Ennes was called west of Butterfield last week to the funeral of the infant child of Charley Keeling and wife.

Forest Grove News: In the death of Blakesley of near Mt. Joy the neighbors have lost a good citizen and the family have our deepest sympathy. [Blakeslee]

Cross Hollows News: Mrs. Byrd who has been seriously ill for some time, died Sunday night. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Eubanks, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Sparks Cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mano News: Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Petty of Omaha, Ark., are visiting Mrs. Petty's parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Brock and family.

Oak Ridge News: We are very sorry to hear of he death of Mrs. Ellen Jones, wife of Joe Jones formerly of this county at the home at Joplin. She was the daughter of the late M. S. Randolph. She leaves a husband and two children. To the family we extend our sympathy.

Purdy News: Miss Mabel Fly left Saturday morning to spend a few days with her sister, Mrs. A. M. Gurley, at Eureka Sprigs, Ark.

W. A. Rose of Viola was here Monday night. He reports the injury of his father, Wm. Rose and J. M. James, Sunday, as a result of being thrown from a buggy. They were returning from church, while driving down a steep hill the harness broke and not being able to control the buggy they were both thrown from the vehicle sustaining injuries. Mr. James had a collar bone broken and otherwise bruised up. Mr. Rose was badly injured about the shoulders. Mr. James has not yet been taken home but is at the home of a Mr. Wolfenbarger near where the accident occurred.

Hazel Dell New: Robert Sapp and Miss Lula Corn were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents last Sunday. We wish them the best of success.

Madry News: Mrs. G. W. Shoemaker and two daughters, Leathie and Reathie are visiting her father near Ft. Smith, Ark.

Seligman News: The jury returned a verdict of not guilty in the Arthur Schaffer trial. Bondsmen were released on the rest of the family. They returned to their home on Saturday evening.

Wheaton News: Mrs. Mary Ferguson of this place died last Sunday, she leaves a husband and three sons and several relatives and friends to mourn her death. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was 63 years, 7 months, and 21 days. Her remains were laid in the Concord Cemetery.

Pioneer News: Born to R. E. Brown and wife, a daughter.

Pioneer News: Fred Hawk, living at Newtonia, died lately with typhoid fever. He leaves a wife and two small children.

Pleasant Valley News: Earl Burchett is trying to sell his crop on the Sam Riddle farm, as he has an offer of work in Monett, which he thinks will pay better than farming.

Pleasant Valley News: Mr. and Mrs. C. Keeling mourn the death of their only child, who was buried last week in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Sunny Side News: Grandma Lankford of Washburn was buried at the Roller Cemetery Saturday afternoon. 

Washburn News: Miss Alver Journey is clerking for J. H. Mooney during the busy season.

Washburn News: Mrs. Arthur Henderson and children of Centerton, Ark., returned home Saturday after a few days visit with her cousin, Mrs. Jennie Hamilton.

Accident News: We are sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Dave Keeling's little daughter, the bereaved have our sympathy.

Accident News: Mrs. John Ash and daughter, Exeter spent part of last week with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Keeling, of near Purdy.

Leon King, who is charge with setting fire to the residence of A. W. Madison, was bound over in Squire Plattenburg's court here Wednesday of last week to wait the action of the circuit court.

Glen and Miss Baught of Oswego, Kans., visited their grandmother, Mrs. Risdon, and Uncle Elmer Risdon, east of town last week.

Arthur Schaffer of Beaver, Ark., who was charged with killing his father while in bed asleep a few months ago at their home near Beaver, was tried last week at Eureka Springs and acquitted.

Ralph, the little four months old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Hankins, died Monday night and was interred at the Horner Cemetery, Tuesday afternoon. Ralph was born May 20, 1910 and died Aug 15, 1910.

Sheriff Newsman placed under arrest on the reunion grounds Tuesday a man by the name of Karnes who was wanted at Rogers, Ark., charged with burglarizing the depot at that place several months ago.

Lewis Enlow was found guilty of slander in Squire Lambertson's court in Capps Creek township last week and fined $1.00.

Gunter News: Eld. Whittington filled his regular appointment at Joplin Saturday and Sunday.

Gunter News: Sig Whittington and daughter, Nora, Mrs. Roe Whittington and Miss Ellen Badgett attended the funeral of Mrs. Bob Dummet [Dummit] at Purdy Sunday.

Seligman News: Wilma, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Finn has had a serious spell of croup.

Seligman News: The body of Will Jones, a wholesale shoe man, was taken through here Saturday evening on way to Springfield for burial. He was well known in the county and highly respected by his many patrons.

Seligman News: Tom Reed has sold his farm to J. W. Baker. He is preparing to make a change in his location. Thinking of trying his fortune in Kansas.

Will Sparr of Exeter spent Saturday night and Sunday with her sister, Mrs. D. G. Leonard.

Union Valley News: Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Larcey and children of Kirkman, Iowa are visiting the latter's parents. W. H. Cole and wife.

Purdy News: Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Mitchell visited their daughter and family at Wheaton, Sunday. Their son-in-law, Mr. Irvin, is down with thyroid.

Seligman News: John Kerns died Tuesday, the 16th, after a lingering illness. He leaves three children by his first marriage, a wife and seven little ones by the second. The people here have been very kind, and assisted the family in every way possible. Part of the children are being adopted by good people.

Washburn News: Grover Journey went to Roaring River Monday after a load of peaches for J. H. Mooney.

Washburn News: Mrs. Pearl Pennington of Oklahoma City left Friday evening after a visit with her parents, John Frost and family.

Washburn News: Mrs. Dave Wilson and sons returned to their home Wednesday after a few weeks visit with her parents, A. Woodruff and family.

Capt. James Vanzandt of Taney County attended the reunion here last week. He is in his eighty-sixth year but gets around well. He is visiting his nephews Walter, Thos. and Charles Vanzandt south of town. [Van Zandt]

Mrs. J. R. Andrews of Monett attend the Samuel Reed funeral Sunday.

J. W. Reed of Roaring River was here Saturday. He said that vicinity had almost a water spout Wednesday the 17, north of Roaring River. All the branches on the north side of the river were swollen out of their banks.

Albert Tucker of Eureka Springs accompanied his cousin J. C. Tucker of Golden and attended the reunion.

Chas. I. Smith of Olmstee, Okla., visited his sister, Mrs. Bud Johnson of this city, and also his father Lewis Smith of Exeter last week.

Mrs. Robert Dummit, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Williamson of near Butterfield died Saturday at her home at Purdy and was buried Sunday.

Mrs. Samuel Sparks died Wednesday, Aug 24, 1910, at her home near Golden, age 37 years. Mrs. Sparks was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Poynor of near Golden. A husband and three small children, one only about two weeks old, are left in the bereaved family. The funeral was conducted Friday at the Golden Baptist Church by Rev. Wm. Kennedy of Monett.  

Mrs. Lillie Patterson of Kentucky is sick at the home of Chas. Sills at the Roaring River Spring. Mrs. Patterson is visiting her cousins, Mrs. J. T. Brattin, Mrs. Wm. Bostick and Chas. and Fred Sills. She is accompanied by her mother Mrs. Sally Jolly.

George Vaughn is spending a few weeks with his brothers, F. M., Will, and Grant, northeast of town.

Officer Ennis arrested Joe Mathis, of McDowell, at the ball game this afternoon and started to town with him when near the railroad crossing Mathis struck Ennis and the officer retaliated with a fierce blow on Mathis cheek. Dr. Robertson mixed in the fray about this time and both were fighting Ennis and a fierce and bloody fight followed in which all three men were bruised. Monett Star, Aug 26.

Lone Elm News: We were sorry to hear of the death of brother Tom Bowen. The community has lost a good citizen and the family a good father. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Madry News: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Atkinson have been visiting Robert's brother Marshall.

Wheaton News: Sam Woodruff has been buying apples for the Rodgers Commission Co., this week.

Nobbin Ridge: Born to Henry Beaver and wife the 27th, a fine 10 pound boy. Mother and babe doing well.

Jenkins News: Born to George Nelson and wife a girl. Mother was not very well at last report.

Jenkins News: John Sullivan bought a new buggy while at the reunion.

Washburn News: Hugh Payton left Wednesday for Kansas City to spend the winter.

Washburn News: Sam Woodruff came home Sunday to visit homefolks. He has been at Wheaton for a few weeks buying apples.

Purdy News: Cornelius Gahn of Monett, died at the home of his father near Fairview the 189th of typhoid fever. He leaves a wife and two children.

Rock Creek News: John Ash and family spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Pearl Brewer.

Shoal Creek News: Born to E. L. Higgs and wife a fine girl, Sept the first.

Eagle Rock News: Roy Cornell has resigned as carrier out of Seligman and Troy Cornell is now carrier.

Eagle Rock News: The box supper last Friday night met with success the proceeds were $35.07 which went to help pay for an artificial leg for John Bradford who got his leg shot off some time ago.

Eagle Rock News: Mr. Ulosberg and wife visited Cap Bradford and wife Sunday.

Pioneer News: Mrs. Irene Caldwell died last Tuesday with typhoid fever. She had many friends and will be sadly missed.

Shell Knob News: Samuel Barricks, an old citizen of this locality, died Tuesday, and was buried Wednesday at the Viney Cemetery.

Fairview News: The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laban Luney died Tuesday night. Interment was made in the Dice Cemetery Wednesday.

Jenkins News: The Roller mill is putting in new machinery.

Cross Hollows News: We hear that Jake Reynolds is seriously ill, his wife is making preparations to go see him.

Forest Grove News: J. W. Ennes united in marriage Sunday Harry Etter and Miss Mary Long of Purdy. We wish them much success through life.

Finis Ball of near Eagle Rock was here Friday. He left an excellent specimen of jack ore at the REPUBLICAN office. The ore was picked up on Mr. Ball's farm near Eagle Rock. The sample is one of the best we have seen of Barry County ore.

Samuel Barricks of Viola died Monday of last week. He was an aged citizen and had lived in that vicinity for many years. He willed his property to a young man friend who was no relation to him.

A daughter arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pilant, north of town, Sept. 12.

Mrs. Nancy Craig suddenly passed away at her home three miles east of Cassville Friday afternoon, September 2, age 74 years. [Click here to read]

Madry News: Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hobson is the proud parents of a baby boy.

Butler Hollow News: John Walden had three hogs killed by the train one day last week.

Butler Hollow News: Will Walden made a business trip to Seligman Saturday.

Washburn Prairie News: Born Friday, Sept 9, 1910, to Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hopkins, a son, all doing nicely.

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. General Brixey of Cassville visited their son, Hugh, and attended church here Sunday.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. Robert Stubblefield was the guest of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Hopkins, Saturday night and Sunday.    

Washburn News: Born to P. R. Moffat and wife, Aug 30, a ten pound boy.

Washburn News: The infant son of Rev. Arthur Flaherty has been very sick but is some better at this writing.

Exeter News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Whitelock of near Wayne, a boy, Sunday.

George Earle, Jr., will be prevented from entering school this fall at Warrensburg, where he was to graduate this year, on account of his eyes failing.

Born to Ed Allison and wife east of town, Sept 8, a daughter.

Mrs. George Hall died Saturday, Sept 10, at her home in Ash township, following an illness of several days. She leaves a devoted husband and eight children. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Baptist church and a Christian lady of exemplary character.

J. C. Tucker of Golden was here Wednesday after a corn cutter. He said the people of that vicinity were very busy cutting corn and getting ready for sowing wheat.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mooney, of Washburn, Sept 7, a girl. [Research Note: On September 10, 1910, Lawrence Mooney was born, a son and not a girl, and on the 10th, not the 7th, as stated in the paper.]

Thursday afternoon as Mrs. James Davidson and daughter were crossing the Frisco tract at Exeter a loose freight car struck their buggy and almost completely demolished it. Mrs. Davidson and daughter jumped from the buggy and were not hurt. The loose car was knocked across the crossing by a freight train, which was switching. The escape was a narrow one.

Last Friday about noon, Leslie Dorsey and Will Franks got into a fight at the plant of the Neosho Milling Co., and Dorsey was badly cut with a knife. It was believe at first that Doresy was fatally wounded as he was stabbed in the breast and the knife penetrated to the lung. However, he appears to be getting well and it is expected that he will recover. Neosho Times.

Washburn News: W. L. Black and wife were called to Monett Wednesday by the sudden death of his niece, Mrs. Minnie Saxe, who was killed by an electric iron.

[Abstract] Mrs. R. E. Saxe, Minnie Hottenhauer, was born in Washburn, Barry Co., MO, and leaves five children and a husband. Burial at Pierce City, age 39.

Washburn News: Monroe Black and family of Joplin came Saturday to visit his sister, Mrs. Ed Henbest. They came through in their automobile.

Kings Prairie News: John Tate and family visited Aaron Black and family Sunday.

Dry Hollow News: Mrs. Maud Pendergraft reported no better.

Dry Hollow News: The death angel visited the home of J. H. Brewer and claimed his little daughter, Lea, age 2 years and 7 months, the 12 day of September. The remains were conveyed to the New Salem Cemetery and there laid to rest. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all their acquaintances.

Oak Ridge News: Died Sunday, Sept 17, Wyoma, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Bardley of Oak Ridge of infantile paralysis. "Sister" as she was called, and the name suited her for she surely tried to be a sister to all the little folks, had such a lovable disposition that she was a pet of everyone that knew her and will be sadly missed by all. But to the heart broken family we can only offer our sympathy knowing that only time will heal. [Bradley?]

Oak Ridge News: Mrs. Grissom, mother of J. B. Grissom and Mrs. U. T. Bradley and a sister of Mr. Bradley came in Sunday night to see their granddaughter and niece but they were too late to see her alive. They live in Illinois.

Seligman News: The little four year old son of Mr. Mitchell died of fever last Tuesday.

Seligman News: Henry Browers lost a little girl of three years from brain fever the 12th. [Bowers?]

Seligman News: Automobiles are becoming an every day sight in our little burg on their way to Eureka Springs.

Seligman News: Mrs. Will Weston died Sept 10 after a lingering spell of typhoid fever. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss.

Golden News: The little babe of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hartman died last Wednesday. The family have our sympathy. 

Golden News: Our school is progressing nicely with Maud Keith as teacher.

Union Valley News: Mrs. Laura Catron is at home this week at the bedside of her mother, Mrs. D. S. Eden, who fell last week and is hurt pretty badly.

Luther Goddard and Miss Lela Galloway were untied in marriage at the home of the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Galloway, northeast of town Saturday evening, R. G. Mitchell officiating. The REPUBLICAN joins the many friend so the young couple in extending congratulations.

Family Reunion: On Sept 19, Mr. and Mrs. George Long held a family reunion at their home four and one half miles south east of Monett. A fine dinner was served at twelve o'clock, all of the children being present.Those present were Giles Long and wife; Mr. and Mrs. Quigley Long and three children; Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas; Mr. and Mrs. Joe McCromick and two children; also Mrs. Dove Shands from Petorlia, Texas, their daughter who is here for a month on a visit; also their single daughter, Miss Nellie Long. While dinner was being served the father passed envelopes around to all the daughters continuing one hundred dollars each and the envelopes to the two sons with fifty dollars each. Homer McIntosh the photographer came and they all had their pictures taken.  [Research Note: George Long and Sarah Frances Smith were married Nov 11, 1869. She was the daughter of Giles Ira Smith and his wife Sarah Singleton. George Long was the son of John Dake and Lavina (Bella ) Long. George Long's daughter Melvina Carolina "Carrie" was the one who at the time of this writing was married to George Thomas. She first married Bertie L. Addington and last she was married to Asher C. Smith. Asher and Carrie are buried at King's Prairie Cemetery. George and Sarah are buried at Corsicana Cemetery, and Sarah Singleton Smith is buried at Bethel. Giles Ira Smith died in McMillian, OK, in 1889. Also in Barry County was 4th great grand parent, Nancy (Jacobs) Smith, widow of Charles Smith, and the mother of Giles Smith. The Smith family came from Rhea Co., TN, to Barry County. And in Barry County, and on the Long side was John Dake Long's parents, who were Hiram and Anna (Lakey) Long, my 4th great grandparents.]

Butler Hollow News: Jimmie Walden and Joe Elliott who have been working at Georgetown, Ark., both returned home with the chills.

Butler Hollow News: Otto McCormick has retuned home from Georgetown, Ark., to attend school.

Forest Grove News: J. W. Sharp and wife have an addition to their family. It will be a voter later.

Forest Grove News: A daughter arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Craig, Sept 24.

Forest Grove News: We extend our sympathy to P. E. Horine in the death of their child.

Forest Grove News: Cullis Plummer visited his sister Mrs. C. B. King near McDowell, Sunday.

Forest Grove News: Miss Nellie Hankins of Flat Creek is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Black near the Grove.

Seligman News: Bill Mitchell is sick with fever. His wife and daughter are about well. A two year old son died last week.

Mayflower News: We are informed that a little child of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dent was accidentally killed while the family were on their way moving to Texas where Mr. Dent's brother lives. The child was climbing into the wagon when the team suddenly started and the child was crushed to death by the wagon.

Exeter News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bashe, the 11th, a girl.

Washburn News: Born to W. L. Henry and wife, Sept 24th, a girl.

Wheaton News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. McMahan, Monday morning, a fine boy, both mother and boy doing well.

The Monett paper chronicles the death of Ed Davies, a former prominent Monett boy. He was accidentally killed at Devil's Lake, North Dakota. He was a son of H. H. Davies of Monett and a brother of the popular engineer Harry Davies. Ed leaves a wife and three children.

J. W. Reed and Evan Brewer of near Eagle Rock were here Tuesday after a coffin for Mrs. Walter Pendergraft who died at her home near Munsey school house Monday. Mrs. Pendergraft was a daughter of Wm. Cornell a prominent citizen of that locality. She had been sick for several months. Interment was made Tuesday at Munsey Cemetery.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Henry of Washburn, Sept 24, a daughter.

Abe Swindle and family are located now at Holtville, Cal.

Mrs. Mary White of Seymour, Ind., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. C. S. Chrichfield, south of town.

Aged Mother Passes Away:  Paulina Jane Plummer, widow of the late Dr. J. S. Plummer of this city, died at her home in Cassville Thursday, September 22, 1910, age 71 years and 8 months. [Click here to read]
