Suburban News: Z. G. Randall received a sad message from his mother last Friday stating that she was sick and not expected to live, he was unable to go and attend his mother but his brother James went.

Suburban News: Miss Addie Lovell is reported on the sick list at this writing.

Butterfield News: Miss Flora Hankins was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Jim Griffith, of Monett last week and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Griffith returned home with her Sunday. 

Butterfield News: While Oscar Holder was helping his brother Albert load wood through some means, a pole slipped striking him on the side of the face bursting two of his teeth. He was unconscious for some time. We hope he will soon recover. The accident happened Saturday.

Sugar Creek News: Miss Anna Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Scott died Saturday, March 30, of dropsy. The body was taken to the family grave yard at Cavie Scott's near Twelve Corners in Arkansas. We all give our greatest sympathy to the bereaved family.

Sunny Side News: Our last month of school closed Friday, W. F. Wardlow, teacher. He has been an excellent instructor and we desire to thank him for his kindness toward the pupils.

Shady Grove News: Mrs. Joe Utter received the sad news Thursday of the death of her brother, Marion Sooter, of Monett. Mrs. Utter attended the funeral Friday. We extend sympathy in this sad hour.

Shady Grove News: Mrs. Kirk Douthett returned Friday from a two weeks visit with her mother near Pierce City.

Independence News: Mrs. Rachel Burr returned to Anderson Sunday after a few weeks visit with relatives and friends.

Crescent News: Amos Henson of near Veronia made a flying trip to Cassville Saturday.

Cross Hollows News: Chas. Wallace has gone to Republic to work.

McDowell News: Fred Wiley is having a well drilled. John Martin is running the drill.

Mineral Springs News: Chester Collins and wife visited the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Channel on Rock Creek Sunday.

Mineral Springs News: John Shepherd of St. John, Kansas is here visiting L. H. Taylor and other friends and also hunting a location.

Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Cozard and daughter, Miss Lou, received a message Friday morning stating that Robert Cozard of Grant, Oklahoma, was stricken with paralysis. Mr. Cozard left on the morning train and Mrs. Cozard and Miss Lou on the evening train for Grant.

J. C. Skelton and son Maurice of Eagle Rock were in Cassville Monday.

J. C. Whittington of Eagle Rock attend I. O. O. F. lodge here Friday night.

Mrs. W. O. Black visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stark, at Washburn Sunday.

Mrs. C. C. Chandler has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Griffin at Carthage.

J. C. Ault has purchased the interest of Guy Reese and is now sole owner of the Mitchell Telephone Co.

C. S. Jennings on route 3 has returned from Centralia, Ill, where he had spent the winter. Centralia was Mr. Jennings old home. He had been away for forty years and found things pretty changed in that time.

Circuit Court Proceedings: In the Circuit Court items was this item: State vs. Pauline Evans, displaying sign on house of ill repute, continued on application of defendant. Same in two cases. [Click here to read court items] 

In the City Election of 1912, the city of Cassville had on their ballot where they could vote for city lights or against city lights. The issue in Ward 1 was 43 for them and 1 against them. In Ward 2 the vote count was 68 for city lights and 8 against them.

Seligman News: Sterling Price has sold his residence to Grant Lynd. Consideration $1000.

Seligman News: Fred Bashe has moved to Seligman. He has bought the restaurant formally owned by Charley Edens. 

Seligman News: E. F. Woodruff is in Colorado for the benefit of his health. He suffered with asthma.

Seligman News: Miss Laura Roller has been hired by the Butler school. Gene Frost will teach the Sunny Side district.

Clio News: We learn that Ola Ray of Butterfield has our school for another year. Salary $50.00. We welcome Mr. Ray back. He taught us a good school last year.

Kings Prairie News: Miss Goldie Dummit has purchased a new Lines piano.

Jenkins News: Miss Zelda Shrontz visited her sister at Verona last week.

Jenkins News: Mr. and Mrs. Horatio Cornman celebrated their silver wedding the 3rd of April.

Forest Grove News: W. L. Ennes and wife are feeling quite old since they have got to be grandparents. Mrs. Ennes is staying with her daughter for a few days, Mrs. R. W. Kerr.

Forest Grove News: Montie Taylor will preach at the Grove next Sunday.

Milwaukee News: Aunt Polly Weston fell out of a buggy last week and hurt herself very badly but is some better.

Exeter News: Roy Smith of Springfield is spending a few days with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Mose Smith. Mr. Smith has been very poorly for some time.

Hazel Dell News: Our school election went off quietly, Henry Yarnall was elected director. A vote was taken on probation all gatherings in school house save for religious purposes, which carried.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mrs. Lda Ora and Sam Whittington were married Sunday evening. Rev. A. C. Crouch performed the ceremony

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. Claud Stubblefield and son Verdayne of Mano visited the latter's parents J. S. Varner and wife Saturday night.

Eagle Rock News: Chas. Kirk has retuned from Kansas where he went sometime ago.

Eagle Rock News: The wedding bells are still ringing on the river, John Bradford took unto himself a bride last Sunday. J. C. Whittington tied the knot.

Eagle Rock News: The infant babe of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Shrum died last week and was laid to rest in the Munsey Cemetery Friday.

Eagle Rock News: W. T. Ayers will move to the Dr. Kelley's farm in the near future.

Lone Elm News: The little daughter of Dan Cares has pneumonia fever.

New Site News: Miss Florence Edens, the teacher at Walnut Grove, spent the week end at Geo. Montgomery's on Capps Creek.

New Site News: Miss Naomi Bounous closed a very successful term of school at Shady Grove, March 29.

Charles Bryant has been employed to teach the Black school. Charles is one of the best qualified young men in the county for the teaching profession.

A. L. Galloway announces that he will hold his sale of Galloway cattle on Saturday, June 15. Further particulars regarding the sale will be given out later.

Hon. J. M. Grimes was located mayor of Boonville Tuesday of last week.

Mrs. Barnby Bush and little daughter, Mary of Monett spent Friday in Cassville.

Miss Stella Pease and mother of Washburn were Cassville visitors Wednesday of last week.

M. C. Messer, for many years an influential public official and business man, quietly passed into the sleep which knows no waking at his home in Cassville at 1:50 o'clock on the morning of Thursday, April 11, 1912, from heart failure.  [Click here to read]

Sugar Creek News: Joe Morgan sold Jess Ethridge one of his mares for $125. Jess says he is going to buggy ride this summer.

Mt Grove News: Miss Altha England is going to Monett to stay till fall.

Mineral Springs News: Chester Collins and wife visited the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Channel, on Rock Creek Sunday.

Cross Hollows News: Mrs. Wm. Faulkner visited Mrs. Ernest Wallace one day last week.

Cross Hollows News: Born to James A. Mayfield and wife the 14th, a 13 pound boy.

Cross Hollows News: Born to Uncle Jack Turner and wife the 11th, a boy. Uncle Jack has been hiring a hand to work ever since it happened.

Suburban News: Carl Shelton of Batavia, Iowa, arrived here Monday and moved to his new home he purchased of Mr. Bradley.

Jenkins News: E. R. Perriman closed a very successful term of school here Friday morning was taken up with the regular lessons, several of the patrons gathered in the evening, the afternoon program consisted of some of the large classes reciting. All the patrons expressed themselves as being well pleased. Mr. Perriman has worked hard for he success of the school during the past seven months.

Crescent News: Uncle John Applequiest died at his home 4 miles south of Verona Wednesday the 10th, of stomach trouble. He was laid to rest in the Spring River cemetery to await the resurrection morn. We can only say to the bereaved family as one of old, blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.

Kings Prairie News: A new dishwasher arrived at Mr. and Mrs. Jake Carter's last week.

H. O. Abernathy, Means Ray, W. D. Archibald and H. P. Sons of this city attended the W. D. Gurley funeral at Purdy Wednesday.

Pioneer News: Mrs. Chris Harader attended the funeral of John Davidson at Rocky Comfort. She reports several deaths and a great deal of sickness in and around Rocky.

Supplement  - Washburn News: The remains of B. F. Walker were brought here Thursday for burial. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wiley, in Illinois. His remains were laid to rest in Washburn Prairie Cemetery. He was a resident of this town many years and will be greatly missed. We extend sympathy to the bereaved family.

Washburn News: Mr. and Mrs. James Gann rejoice over the arrival of a new boy, the 12th.

Washburn News: Mrs. A. J. Pease and daughter Stella were in Cassville shopping Wednesday. [Should read J. A. Pease.]

Died After a Short Illness: A. M. Farwell, a well known citizen of Roaring River township, died at his home near Eagle Rock, Saturday afternoon, April 13. [Click here to read]

Mrs. Dona Wetzel and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of Oronogo were called to Cassville last week by the death of M. C. Messer.

Thomas Ferguson and family and Ernest Ferguson and wife of Butterfield attended the funeral of M. C. Messer, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Abernathy attended the funeral of Mrs. Marshall Carlin at New Site Thursday.

Supplement - Union Valley News: Mrs. Rosa Cole spent Easter with her mother, Mrs. J. F. Brattin, of Exeter.

Supplement - Washburn News: A. Woodruff was called to the bedside of the his brother near St. Louis Monday, who is not expected to live.

Supplement - Shady Grove News: James Clark and Eva Adams were married last Sunday at J. B. Parmley's. They will start to California Thursday where they expect to make their future home. May joy go with them.

Dave Frazier Dead: Sol Frazier of a few miles east of the city, returned from Washburn, Barry County, Monday morning where he attended the funeral of his brother, Dave Frazier, on Sunday, whose death occurred on Saturday, as the result of heart trouble. Deceases was 58 years of age, and was at one time a resident of Aurora, and engaged in the livery business with O. R. Hemphill, and many old friends here will regret to learn of his death. Mr. Frazier was the father of  Mrs. Jon. Black of Washburn and was well known by the older residents of Cassville, having resided here several years ago while engaged in the livery business.

Crescent News: Mrs. D. H. Harrison of Vernon who is very sick is reported no better.

Crescent News: T. W. Eden of near Orange visited E. G. Eden and family Saturday returning home Sunday. He says wheat is not looking very promising in his section and that farmers are very busy getting ready to plant corn.

Washburn Prairie News: Grandma Varner is some better at this writing but is still confined to her bed.

Washburn Prairie News: Moulton Varner of Rock Springs visited his parents, J. S. Varner and wife, here Saturday.

Will McCary who has been assisting his brother-in-law, E. S. Mitchell, in the Carl Clothing Co. store, has gone to Oklahoma.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Davis of Tulsa, Okla., came in Tuesday enroute to Viola to visit Mrs. Davis' mother Mrs. J. M. James.

We are authorized to announce James Eubanks of Flat Creek township as a candidate of the Republican nomination for sheriff subject to the will of the voters at the August primary.

James Gibson who secured the contract for putting in the extension of the water main for the city has completed the work and turned it over to the council committee.

Horace Hutchinson, south of town, has been employed to teach the Vanzandt school the coming year.

Arthur Salyer of Catalo, Oklahoma, is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Salyer.

Mrs. Hattie Fox, a teacher in the Pierce City schools, has been at home this week to attend the wedding of her sister, Miss Flossie LeCompte.
