T. F. Newman and Mrs. H. G. McManus of St. Paul, Minn., are expected to arrive today, Thursday, to visit their brother, Dr. Newman, and family of this city.

H. O. Abernathy and family spent Sunday in Rogers, Ark.

Bryon Carr and daughter, Mrs. John Snyder, of Shell Knob are visiting at the home of Dr. Kelley and family in Purdy this week.

General Brixey has his new residence completed on his farm, known as the Henry Beck farm, 3 1/2 miles east of Cassville.

Gunter News: Paul Coons' little child has been real sick. But it is some better at this writing.

Flat Creek News: Miss Minnie Potter is very sick. 

Cedar Bluff News: Uncle Dock Willis who has a broken leg is not improving very fast. He is not able to be up.

Pleasant Ridge News: There was an ice cream social at John Pennel's Saturday night. A large crowd attended and all reported a nice time.

Victory News: We are sorry to hear of Della Oakley's death. The bereaved have our sympathy.

Hailey News: The ice cream social at Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Bowers, Thursday evening was well attended. A delightful time was reported.

Suburban News: Z. G. Randle's eye is not much better. The doctor removed a piece of steel that Mr. Randles got in his eye while grinding some hoes about three weeks ago.

Wm. Andrews of Union Valley neighborhood is dangerously ill with an attack of blood poison.

Mrs. Will Steele and son, Tom, have gone to Denver, Colo., for a visit. Monett Star.

Everett Witt, son of John Witt, of Crenola, Kans., came in Tuesday, for a few week's visit with W. W. Witt and family and other relatives.

Mrs. V. E. Hicks who has been visiting the past three weeks at the home of Will Ireland, and family, south of town, left for her home in Joplin, Tuesday.

Alf Reed and Sam Smalley, south of town, retuned from a week's stay at Fairland, Okla., Monday.

Otto Turner of Collinsville, Okla., and O. W. Wilson of Prosperity attended the funeral of Mrs. James Stacy Sunday.

Miss Ida Cooper of Shell Knob, who has been visiting in and about Cassville for several days, left Thursday to visit with relatives at Cherryvale, Kans.

Dr. W. T. Bailey and wife spent Sunday in Rocky Comfort.

Sam Galloway and family came in Wednesday of last week from Waterloo, Iowa. They will probably make Barry County their home.

Mrs. J. C. Boren, of Ennis Tex., arrived Sunday for a few weeks visit at the home of her father, J. H. Baird. [Research Note: Mary Jane Baird was married to Jesse Edward Boren. She was a daughter of James Hezekiah Baird and his wife Hannah Caldonia Matlock.]

Miss Iola Vawter of Marshall, who has been the guest of her sister Miss Emma Vawter, of this city for a few days, departed for her home Wednesday evening of last week.

Ilus Lee, accompanied by his two little sons and daughter, Eugene, Benton and Murrel, spent last week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Lee and family. Ilus returned to Kansas City Saturday evening. The children will remain until September.

Another Mother Passes Away: After a lingering illness of many weeks, Mrs. Amanda Stacy, wife of James Stacy, died at her home in Cassville, Saturday morning, July 19, 1912. Death was due to a  complication of diseases.  [Click here to read]

Called by Death: Della L. Oakley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Oakley, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Elkins, one-half mile west of town, Wednesday, July 17. Death was due to a  cancerous growth. [Click here to read]

A Webb City Man Shot: Grover Elgin of Webb City was shot and dangerously wounded in Seligman about eight o'clock Sunday evening.   [Click here to read]

Nubbin Ridge News: Dr. Taylor, the Roaring River dentist, and J. M. Brewer are both talking of getting phones soon.

Clark News: Mr. Black and family have gone to McDonald County to attend Sam Black's sale. Mr. Black will eave soon for California.

Clark News: Mrs. J. A. Howerton is suffering with dropsy. She has recently had an operation performed. Her condition is considered very critical.

Flat Creek News: Miss Minnie Patton has recovered from a spell of typhoid fever.

Butterfield News: Mrs. Joe Marshall of Springdale is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ferguson. 

Forest Grove News: Clarence Cranford and Miss Ina Sharp were married Sunday July 21 at the home of the bride. A. J. Baker performed the ceremony. We extend our best wishes.

Washburn News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Claud Roller, July 22, a daughter.

Washburn News: We are informed that Prof. Russell and wife of Monett are the proud parents of a fine boy, born July 15th.

T. J. Newman of Oklahoma City, Okla., was the guest of his brother, Dr. Newman, and family, from Friday to Monday.

Dr. and Mrs. W. T. Bailey left Sunday evening for St. Louis where Mrs. Bailey will undergo an operation for a cancerous growth at the Mayfield Sanitarian.

Clarence Hankins and Supt. W. E. Hankins left Monday evening for Springfield to attend the commencement exercises at the Springfield Normal this week.

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hall and daughter, Mrs. Zoe Newman of Exeter visited Mrs. Hall's parents M. B. Sparkman and wife, Saturday and Sunday.

Washburn News: Miss Wilma Saxe and brother Lee and sister Dorothy received a message Sunday that their aunt, Mrs. Steve Miller of Monett was dead. They left for that place Monday.

Liberty News: Frank Kaistic of Aurora was drowned Monday in the Merrimac River. He was found Tuesday. He was brought home and buried Friday.

Madry News: Dr. P. F. Thomas who has been living near Verona has moved to Madry.

New Site News: Pete Hanlin is moving his family to the Tucker place and R. Teel will move to the place vacated by Mr. Hanlin. Mr. Teel having bought the farm of Mr. Ryan. Alvin Rumbaugh will also move to Mr. Teel's farm.

Frank Watkins and James Turner of Monett were convicted last Thursday in Squire Plancheon's court for disturbing the peace and were given 30 days in the county jail.

Fire destroyed an entire business block at Prosperity last Wednesday.

The Eureka Springs Flashlight states that J. W. Gilbert of Golden has sold his interest of general merchandise to his brother, Chas. Gilbert, and that he will go west this fall.

R. H. Elam of Eagle Rock retuned last week from a short visit with Dr. Kelley and family at Seneca. He says the doctor has much improved in health.

Lon George and family of Pioneer passed through Cassville Thursday on their way to Boone County, Ark., for a visit with relatives.

H. S. Montgomery visited his daughter, Mrs. Will Meador, of Monett Sunday.

Jesse Boren of Ennis, Texas came in Monday evening for a few weeks visit at the home of J. H. Baird. Mrs. Boren arrived several days ago. Mr. Boren says that crops in that section of Texas will be light on account of little rainfall.

Mrs. W. E. Morro of Viola went to Monett Tuesday for a few days visit with her daughter, Mrs. Dave Mulkey and family.

Frank Carney of Marionville died Monday. He was reared on Flat Creek in Barry County and has many friends and relatives in this county. Ora Hudson and wife of Cassville attended the funeral Wednesday.

Washburn Prairie News: The 15 months old baby of Mrs. Jennie Jones died Friday night Aug. 16th and was buried in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Saturday evening after short services conducted by Rev. Ireland.

Washburn Prairie News: Miss Edith Herren of Tecumseh, Okla., is visiting her grandparents, Wm. M. Varner and wife, and other relatives here and at Corinth and will attend the reunion.

Washburn Prairie News: R. T. Raines received word one day last week that his son-in-law, Jim Robertson, that lived in Utah was killed by a tree falling on him.

Washburn Prairie News: Chas. Jones of Aurora attended the burial of his little nephew at this place Saturday evening.

Oak Ridge News: Lenna and Roy Henley, daughter and son of Darb Henley of Newton, Kan., were at W. S. Hankins Saturday evening on their way to their aunts, Mrs. Ab Baker. They are taking in the reunion.

Forest Grove News: John Ennis and family of Purdy visited with his parents, Rev. J. W Ennes and family last week and went o Eagle Rock on business. [Research Note: Name was spelled Ennis and Ennes.]

Forest Grove News: Mrs. J. H. Chapman of Minden Mines took in the reunion and visited her parents, J. W. Ennes and family, returning home Monday. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Alice Ennes who will visit for a few weeks. They will visit soon another sister living in Labette, Kan. 

Forest Grove News: A few of our neighbors attended the funeral of Mrs. Holiday Wednesday of last week.

Shell Knob News: A. Vegeby and two sons of St. Joseph are visiting their relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Westpheling and family. One of he sons will remain for quite a while. The Elder Vegeby is connected with Burgess & Frazier Iron Co., at St. Joseph.

Jenkins News: Ernest Periman and Archa Long attended the teachers meeting Friday and Saturday.

Gunter News: There were about forty present at the ice cream supper given at Lee Russell's in honor of Walter's 19th birthday.

Butterfield News: Tom Wallace and family returned to Republic after a visit with his mother, Mrs. Tom Ferguson.

Washburn Prairie News: Miss Doll Miller of Pea Ridge, Ark., has been visiting her brother, P. D. Miller and family.

Milwaukee News: Ed Smith's mother from Ozark is visiting him. She is 91 years old and is enjoying food health for one of her age.

Milwaukee News: Mrs. Tate from Christian County is visiting her parents, Ed Smith and wife, and attended the reunion.

Mt Grove News: Miss Althea Ingland was visiting her mother, Mrs. S. E. Ingland, Sunday the 18th. [England?]

Washburn News: School begins Sept 2nd, Prof Wallen is principal, Miss Cora Earl, Miss Hallie McCants and Miss Wilma Saxe are assistant teachers. We are expecting a good school with such an able corps of teachers.

Washburn News: Press Daugherty of McDonald county is visiting his sister, Mrs. County is visiting his sister, Mrs. J. M. Stark, and other relatives this week.

Chinquapin Hill News: Mrs. Gardner, a sister of Mrs. G. P. Allison, came down from Joplin last Sunday and took Mrs. Phillips, her mother, home. She had been visiting the family of G. P. Allison several weeks.

Chinquapin Hill News: Eliza Black, who has recently moved to the John VanHook place, has been an invalid for many years, but she now feels much better.

Chinquapin Hill News: Mrs. Flora Hamilin of Idaho is visiting her uncle, J. P. Turner and family.

Alva Rine and family of Barton County are visiting Mr. Rine's parents, Henry Rine and family, of near Exeter.

Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Tate of Christian County visited relatives and friends near Cassville last week and attended the reunion.

Joel Marlow of Hartford, Kan., is visiting his brothers, Elijah and John Marlow and families near town.

Mrs. Nancy Ellis of St. Louis is visiting her brother, J. R. Lee, and wife.

A case of smallpox has been reported at Golden.

A. G. Henbest and daughters Misses Willie and Mildred, visited relatives south of town last week.

Miss Doan Jordan left Tuesday for Twin falls, Idaho, after an extended visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Jordan and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hudson of Sarcoxie visited their son, Harris Hudson and family, last week and attended the reunion.

Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Boren and Miss Myrtle Baird went to Stott City, Lawrence County, Sunday for a short visit at the home of Chas. Baird and family.

Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Hall of Springfield visited at the home of Mrs. Hall's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ad Neil and family, south of town last week.

Ilus Lee of Kansas City came in Tuesday evening for a short stay with his parents, C. M. Lee and family, south of town.

Mrs. Chas. Ray went to Miami, Okla., Monday for a few days visit with her mother, Mrs. Pharis.

Shady Grove News: Miss Hattie Nickles spent last week with her brother, Frank, and attended the reunion.

Shady Grove News: A. E. Ryan and family of Barton County attended the reunion last week and are now visiting the parents of Mr. and Mrs. Ryan.

Wheaton News: Geo. W. Earle of Cassville was in town a short time Tuesday morning. Mr. Earle has been chosen principal of the Wheaton school for this winter.

Wheaton News: Mrs. Delia Alfrey of Beggs, Okla., is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gillman of this place.

Victory News: Will Pryor and family visited the latter's parents, Herman Cook's Sunday.

Union Valley News: J. L. Hoover, the saw mill man, is at his home in Monett, very sick with typhoid fever.

Union Valley News: Ray Smith and family spent Saturday night and Sunday with Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pulley of Washburn.

Crane News: Our Sunday School convention was a success. Everybody enjoyed the occasion. There were four Sunday Schools present. They were Oak Grove, Crane, Marshall and Osa Sunday Schools. They had an excellent program. Rev. John Allman, R. A. Ellis and Rev. Frank Williams made excellent talks.

Mt Grove News: Annas Marbut of St. Louis who has been visiting relative has returned home.

Mt Grove News: Mrs. S. E. Ingland and children have returned from the Carthage fair and the camp meeting.

Pioneer News: Miss Effie Hutchens has been threatened with typhoid fever. She is making rapid improvement.

Pioneer News: Dr. D. L. Freeman has traded three valuable horses for a fine farm and other considerations in Oklahoma.

Pioneer News: Mrs. Evan Hutchens has not been in good health for some time.

Washburn News: Monroe Black and wife of Joplin are the guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Black. They came down in their auto.

Washburn News: Dr. E. C. Taylor of Roaring River was here Monday doing some dental work for Miss Lydia Burnett. He was accompanied by his daughter who is spending the summer with him.

Washburn News: Jim Laughlin of Sugar Creek shipped 3 car loads of cattle to Kansas City Friday evening. Black & Frost also shipped one car load Saturday evening.

Washburn News: F. A. Denton and family went to Topeka, Kan., to visit his sister, Mrs. Joe Hickman, who has a very sick child.

Liberty News: Grandma Fields attended the infare [infare?] dinner of her grandson, Edgar Fields, Monday. There were four generations present. She was seventy-seven years old and the younger of the four generations was one year old. A nice dinner was spent and a good time was had.
