June 17, 1915, Thursday, Cassville Republican, Barry Co., MO

Mrs. Elizabeth Owens of Verona who has been visiting her brother, Wm. Henley, went to Exeter, Saturday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kemper.

Rev. Will Ireland of Purdy visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Ireland south of town Saturday.

Ed Newsman and sons, Roy, Virgil and Otto went on a fishing trip Friday evening.

Mrs. C. H.  Funston and son, H. Clay, returned Tuesday morning from an extended visit with relatives in Danville, Ill., and Mason City, Ia.

John Sherman, James Garret and J. C. Whittington of Eagle Rock were in Cassville Saturday. Mr. Whittington was on his way to Joplin to attend Federal Court as a member of the petit jury.

Mrs. Ed Rooks of Cushing, Okla., is visiting her sister, Mrs. Claud Frost, and friends in Cassville. She will go from here to Colorado where the family mean to located for the summer.

Mrs. Myrtle Howell returned to Sarcoxie Saturday after a few days visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Moore northeast of Cassville. Mrs. Howell had for sometime until this spring been living in California. She visited the Exposition before leaving for Missouri.

Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Morton of Cave Springs, Ark., were called to Cassville Tuesday night on account of he death of their little granddaughter, Ruth Joslin. They lived in Cassville at the time Mr. Morton built and operated the Cassville Mill. They have been away 26 years. Mr. Morton is in the milling business at Cave Springs.

Linden Jones of Sedalia arrived Wednesday for a visit with his father, L. F. Jones and family.

Butterfield News: Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of Monett visited their daughter, Mrs. H. M. Gray and family Sunday.

Purdy News: Mrs. Zin Wilson united with the Christian church and was baptized Sunday afternoon at the church.

Arnhart News: I. A. Bowman and daughters Sadie, Ethel and Iva and Misses Lela and Louisa Foster returned home Thursday after a three weeks visit.

Washburn News: Lee Saxe visited his uncle, W. L. Black, and wife from Friday until Sunday. He was enroute to Carthage to work in a wholesale grocery house.

Washburn News: Floy Cargile had a milch cow killed by the train Sunday.

Shady Grove News: Miss Ona England who has been sick for sometime seems to be slowly improving.

Union Valley News: J. C. Bailey and wife attended the funeral of Oren Brattin at Cassville Sunday.

Oren Brattin died at this home two miles southwest of Cassville, Friday, June 11, following an illness of less than three weeks of typhoid fever. [Click here to read]

Pleasant Ridge News: Miss Ada Calton visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith Sunday.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mrs. Cecil Osborn was taken to Springfield Saturday to have an operation performed for a growth in her side. We hope her speedy recovery.

Purdy News: Rev. Moses Smith of Exeter visited his daughter, Mrs. Perry Tantham, Sunday, and preached for the Purdy Baptist Churh at 11 o'clock.

Washburn News: Mrs. Polly Weston and son, Rev. John Weston, of Beaver, Ark., is visiting E. A. Burnett and family. Rev. Weston will preach at the Holiness church tonight, Monday.

Rock Creek News: Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Hawk of Cassville passed through our community Saturday enroute to Golden to visit their daughter, Mrs. Arnold.

Rock Creek News: Mrs. Lavancha Williamson and son, Lester, visited the former's mother, Mrs. Earle, and the family of Troy Williamson, part of last week. We are sorry indeed to hear of Troy's wife being in such poor health. We hope the trip they are taking west will prove a great benefit to her health.

Line News: Mrs. Carry is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Miller, at present. Mrs. Carry will start to Oregon in a few days.

Union Valley News: Mrs. Mae Miller returned to her home at Seligman Saturday after a week's visit with her sister, Mrs. Bent Smith, and family.

Munsey News: We were sorry to hear of the death of James Vanderpool who was drowned in Kansas. He is the son of Rev. Ed Vanderpool of this neighborhood. The remains will be shipped to Munsey for burial. We extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Munsey News: Mrs. Perse of Munsey visited her sister, Mrs. Gillmore of near Butterfield last week.

Frank Sater of Miller was in Cassville Sunday, the guest of his daughters, Mrs. H. M. Allen and Mrs. A. L. Brown. Mr. Sater is Mayor of Miller and is engaged in business there.

Mrs. J. Dorsey and two sons, of Springdale, Mrs. Dorsey's daughter, Mrs. Willie Moore, at Mineral Springs returned home Monday evening.

Mrs. Fanny Carlin and little niece, Helen Ambrose of Purdy spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Brown and other friends in Cassville.

Frank Jordan and family of near Butterfield were n Cassville Thursday to attend the funeral of Ruth Joslin. Mr. Jordan started while here that he sold $288. worth of strawberries from one acre this season and this one acre was bout the roughest spot on his farm.

Hugh Brixey went to McAllister, Okla., Saturday to deliver John Stanley to the Warden of the Oklahoma penitentiary. Stanley had escaped from prison and was captured last week near Washburn, the account of which was given in last week's issue of the REPUBLICAN.

B.F. Lamar stated while in Cassville Saturday that he would move to Purdy early in the fall in time for beginning of school He has closed the deal with the administrators of the estate of E. F. England, dec'd, of property at Purdy and will make that his home.

Purdy News: Grandma Counts was at Monett last week getting acquainted with her new grandchildren, twin boys, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hiram Blakeslee.

Purdy News: James Hendricks and family of Portland, Ore., and  Mrs. Lewis and family of Sapulpa, Okla., visited their aunt, Mrs. J. S. McCraw, south of town a few days last week, going from there to Eureka Springs for a visit with other relatives.

Purdy News: John Lewis, son of E. P. Lewis, has recently returned from St. Louis where he was in the hands of a skilled surgeon who operated for appendicitis. He says he feels fine and he certainly looks it.

Butterfield News: Dr. Leith has sold his property and is making arrangements to return to his old home in Virginia. We regret to lose them as they are noble hearted people, but we wish them success and happiness where ever they go.

Butterfield News: Mrs. Will Gray of Strafford, Mo., visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake England and other relatives here last week.

Liberty News: Miss Lela Robertson of Cassville is visiting with her cousins, Miss Lola Richardson and Miss Ruby Davis.

Liberty News: Mr. and Mrs. Grant Karch took twenty-four gallons of huckleberries to Aurora. How is that for huckleberries?

Seligman News: Miss Anzie Stapleton and Pat Hannecke were quietly married in our little burg the last of the week. Both are highly respected young folks. They are ahead of the most young people as they have a brand new Ford to start down the sunny roads of life with. Many of the older folks have started on one of the old family mules.

Flat Creek News: Mr. and Mrs. Marion Foster and daughter, Miss Elma, of near Purdy visited from Saturday till Monday with relatives in our neighborhood and attended children's day at Jones Sunday.

Shell Knob News: Charley Westpheling has returned from Kansas.

Sugar Creek News: Dr. Northcutt of Seligman was down on the creek in his new auto after huckleberries.

Shady Grove News: Charley Smith of House district has a very sick child. It has pneumonia.

Hazel Dell News: Will Dell is able to be at work after an illness of several months.

Washburn Prairie News: Judge M. B. Sparkman, and grandson, Mat, visited with his daughter, Mrs. S. T. Sims, and family of Horner Saturday night.

Personal and Local News: Allen Stubblefield of Black Oak, Ark., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Stubblefield, southwest of Cassville. He states that that section has had good seasons but no wet weather and that crops are not good.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Sterling Hailey and children of Hailey were in Cassville Friday. They left on the evening train for Westville, Okla., to visit Mrs. Hailey's sisters, Mrs. Bert Hefley and Mrs. Bryon Bare.

Washburn News: A son of the widow Harrison who lives near Wayne died Thursday July 1st of ptomaine poison and was buried Friday at True Love.

Washburn News: Mrs. Wm. Davis of Wheaton visited her father, B. F. McCary, and other relatives here the first of the week.

Washburn News: The infant son of Curtis and Gail Martin died Thursday, July 1st at the home of his grandfather, Wm. Hancock, and was laid to rest Friday in the Exeter Cemetery. He was born Saturday, June 26th.We extend sympathy to the bereaved.

Personal and Local: Will Gillmore of Butterfield was at Mano a part of last week assisting with the invoice of the stock of goods at that place which Albert Easley has sold to Will Holman.

Personal and Local: Mrs. Nora Scriber of Rogers, Ark., who had been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Beagle, south of town, returned home Monday evening.

Personal and Local: W. C. Robertson and daughter, Miss Delores, went to Monett Tuesday night and from there to near Aurora where Miss Delores will visit relatives.

Gets Bootlegger:  Robert Howe, a barber at Butterfield, was arrested Saturday by Sheriff Brixey upon a charge of the illegal sale of whiskey at Butterfield on that day. He was brought to the county jail where he remained until Monday when he was taken back and tried before Squire Parmley and found guilty. He was fined $300. which was remitted to sixty days in jail.

Howe claims to have come from St. Louis to Butterfield. He opened a barber shop there about two weeks ago. The front part of the building occupied was used for the shop and he was living in the rear part of the building. The number of persons constantly passing in and out of his place of business Saturday at the celebration aroused suspicion and led to the arrest.

Lewis Schriener's Body Found: The body of Lewis Schreiner, of the 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schreiner, and one of the two boys who were drowned Friday, June 25, at the Schriener ferry near Shell Knob, was found Friday July 2 about 8 miles below the ferry. County the meanderings of the river it was perhaps twelve to fifteen miles below where the accident had happened.

The body was found off to one side of the regular channel of the stream where it had been carried y the rising river and left when it fell. One full week had passed since the drowning and decomposition was very noticeable. The finding of the body will be a great consolation to the grief-stricken parents.

Prisoner Trying to Escape is Shot: Deputy Sheriff Hugh Brixey shot and slightly wounded Harry Jones at Monett Saturday evening when Jones made an effort to escape from the deputy sheriff's custody.

Jones had been placed under arrest at Granby upon a charge of assault and battery committed in Capps Creek township in March. He had kept out of the county since that time. Having been located at Granby, he was arrested there and brought back to this county. On his way to Cassville Brixey had stopped at Monett to get a lunch Saturday evening. Jones thought he saw an opportunity to escape and stared to run. In order to cause his prisoner to stop the deputy sheriff opened fire. One shot stuck Jones in the leg and inflicted a flesh wound. He was retaken and gave bond for his appearance for the trial July 26 in Squire Joseph Weinzeir's court in Capps creek township.

96 Years Old: Saturday, July 3 was the ninety sixth birthday anniversary of John L. Holland, one of Springfield's pioneer citizens.

Mr. Holland has been living in Springfield continuously for 74 years. His health is fairly good and his is confident of reaching the century mark. Springfield Republican

Standing Jury: The following citizen from various parts of the county are to constitute the trial jurors for circuit court here next week.

Charged with Removing Mortgaged Property:  Sheriff Brixey brought Israel and Elmer Groves, two brothers, down from Monett Wednesday night of last week and lodged them in the county jail The boys are charged with removing mortgaged property from Pulaski County where they had formerly lived.

They were tired Wednesday at Monett upon a charge of illegal voting a the Monett local option election on June 16 and were acquitted. The sheriff then placed them under arrest upon the other charge.

Butterfield News: Sig Whittington has been doing some much needed work on the roads in this district. He put in twelve hours work on the Ben Fields hill and the road running east for a short distance which included four other hills an that piece of road is now in the best condition we ever saw it.

Butterfield News: There was a train load of soldiers went through here Sunday morning going south.

Butterfield News: Mrs. Catherine Lowe took sick Thursday morning of last week and died Saturday morning with some thing like congestion of the stomach. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church Sunday at 2 p.m. by Rev. J. W. Ennes who paid a beautiful tribute to womanhood in his talk from the text "She has done what she could".  The church was crowded and there were very few dry eyes in the audience. Interment was made in Russell Cemetery beside her husband who died several years ago. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of a host of friends.

Mineral Springs News: Mrs. John England spent Tuesday of last week with her mother, Mrs. Reno.

Washburn News: The little infant of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Windes was buried Sunday, at Washburn Prairie, it was born Saturday, July 10th.

New Site News: Mrs. M. C. Banks and daughter, Ava, are planning to start this week to California. She will visit a brother at Fresno, also go tot eh fair. She will stop at Liberty going out to visit her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Higgins and coming home will visit Mrs. Stella Neill in Louisiana.

New Site News: Washington Montgomery and wife stated the eleventh to visit relatives in Texas. They will stop at Rogers, again at Fayetteville, Ark., for a short visit. Their nephew, Fred Miller, who was married July 4, to Miss Bertha Roller will live in the house and take care of Mr. Montgomery's things while they are gone and will then move to another house on the farm to live. We are glad to have them for neighbors.

New Site News: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wagoner are the proud parents of a son born July 3 and Rev. Luther Carlin's of a daughter born July 7th.

Union Valley News: Lottie Reed and wife of Wheaton spent Sunday at Fred Cole's.

Union Valley News: Miss Iva Browning of Exeter was the guest of her cousin, Miss Mary Sparb, Sunday.

Independence News: Curtis Freeze and family visited George Packwood Sunday.

Bethel News: Fred Miller and Miss Bertha Roller were united in marriage Sunday, July 4. They are fine young people and we wish them a happy voyage though life.

Forest Grove News: It is a little late but we have just learned why L. D. Ennes Jr., keeps smiling as he drives around. One more number in his family.

Seligman News: T. D. Collier's team ran away late Monday evening, hurting one of his small boys badly.

Shady Grove News: An aunt of Alfred Hemphill's1 from White River visited him Saturday and all visited at Alfred's father's, Jim Hemphill, Saturday night.

Shell Knob News: Charley Fields of Drumright, Okla., came in last week to stay awhile.

Shell Knob News: Mrs. A. J. Clanton and son, Jesse, went to Cassville Saturday.

Washburn Prairie News: Dr. Sims of Harrison, Ark., and granddaughter, Miss Maye of Horner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sparkman and sons, Milton and Earl, and Mrs. C. M. Sparkman of Cassville all attended church here Sunday.

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. J. W. LeCompte and daughter, Mrs. Hattie Fox, and Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Joslin and baby of Cassville spent the day Sunday very pleasantly with R. J. Foster and family.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. N. S. Baker came down from Purdy Friday night and is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Florence Weston and family.

Line News: All the neighbors went in and took dinner and surprised Mrs. Snuffer Sunday. At noon a nice dinner was spread. In the afternoon ice cream was made, all seemed to enjoy themselves.

New Salem News: Mrs. Harlan Roller's cousin, Miss Marie Daboling, of Oklahoma visited her Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

New Salem News: Harve Poe's relatives gathered him a surprise birthday dinner.

New Salem News: The Fountain brothers have begun putting up hay on Mr. Windes' place at Washburn. They have fine prospects of a nice lot of hay.

New Salem News: Miss Dora Payne of Ritchey and Mrs. Ethel Helig of Newtonia visited their sister, Mrs. May Brixey, from Tuesday till Sunday. Mrs. Helig's husband came down Saturday and accompanied them home Sunday night.

Hazel Dell News: An old man by the name of Jenkins who lived northwest of Exeter 2 1/2 miles died very suddenly Sunday morning the 11th. He seemed in his usual health up to Saturday morning.

Personal and Local: Dr. S. A. Newman was called to near Shell Knob Wednesday of last week to visit Frank James who has been seriously ill. Mr. James is about 80 years old and is one of this county's highly esteemed citizens. [Research Note: Francis Ashberry James died July 30, 1915, and is buried in Painter Cemetery, Barry Co., Missouri. He was a son of James W. James and his wife Maranda Sutton. Francis was born January 29, 1836 in Izard Co., AR. ]

Personal and Local: Mrs. M. L. Ingram and son, Rollie, of Monett accompanied by Misses Myrtle Plank and Inez Marshall of Springdale and Miss Williams of Purdy visited Dr. J. S. Ingram in this city Thursday.

Personal and Local: Mrs. Maud Reynolds of St. Louis is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Frost, and other relatives and friends in this city.

Personal and Local: Hunter Martin and sister, Miss Mary of Kansas City arrived Friday for a visit with Cassville relatives.

Personal and Local: Mrs. T. H. Hickman has returned from a visit with her sister, Mrs. Clarence Hankins at Ft. Smith.

Personal and Local: W. H. Martin and wife and little grandson of Seymour, Tex., are visiting the family of O. P. Murphy, north of Cassville. They have also been visiting northwest of Exeter. Mr. Martin had not been here for 43 years and is enjoying the visit at his former home and community very much.

Personal and Local: Martin McCarter of Lewis, Kan., is visiting his nephew, J. F. McCarter, south of Cassville, and other relatives in this community. He formerly lived here but has been away 23 years.

Dies From Overheat: Porter Jennings, a highly respected citizen of Liberty township, died Sunday morning at his home west of Exeter from the effects of overheat on the evening before. [Click here to read]

Bethel News: Mrs. Hiram Roller visited her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Miller of near Pierce City, Wednesday.

Bethel News: Several from here attend the song convention at Macedonia Sunday. A fine sermon by Bro. Homer Marshall was listed to Sunday morning and some excellent music Sunday evening. The crowd present showed whether good music is appreciated or not.

Butterfield News: Mrs. C. I. Minor of Arkansas City was here last week with a view of purchasing some Butterfield strawberry land.

Purdy News: James Jefferies and wife visited their daughter, Mrs. Albert Johnson of Wheaton last week.

Purdy News: Mrs. C. A. Rose who has been in a hospital at St. Louis where she underwent a serious operation is now at home and doing nicely. Mr. Rose went to St. Louis to accompany her home.

Washburn News: Starwood Park has purchased wm. Journey's interest in the Journey & Fulton grocery store. They will move the stock to Oklahoma.

Washburn News: J. H. Mooney has purchased Geo. Hullinger's interest in the Produce Co.

Washburn News: Mrs. Chas. Cooper of Monett is visiting her mother, Mrs. Flaherty.

New Salem News: Mrs. Marinda Walden of Beaver, Ark., is visiting with her brother, Robt. Roller, and family at this writing.

New Salem News: Oss Sons and wife of sweet Springs, spent most of last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sons.

The infant babe of Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Roller was laid to rest in the cemetery at this place Saturday morning, July 17. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. P. H. Hodge of Washburn. The heartbroken parents have our deepest sympathy.

Flat Creek News: Mrs. Ed Smith of Victory locality spent Saturday night with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carney.

Flat Creek News: Floyd Foster of Cape Fair visited Saturday night with his uncle, Ike Bowman.

Seligman News: Richard J. Jr. and Mary Blanche Mott, children of R. J. Mott are visiting their grandma, Mrs. Bashe, this week.

Seligman News: Dock Northcutt had company the last of the week, after starving out at the Doctors they all went to Big Sugar Creek fishing Monday. A case of fish or starve.

Personal and Local: Chas. Rubow and sisters, Mrs. Mary Collier and Miss Jessie Rubow and Mrs. Laura Roller of Seligman were at the county seat Wednesday of last week.

Personal and Local: The three daughters of Dr. Pound of New Boston, Mo., arrived Friday and went to Shell Knob for a visit at their former home.

Personal and Local News: Lela Abernathy has returned from a two weeks visit with her grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blackstone Abernathy, at Pierce City.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Ethridge of near Jenkins were in Cassville Thursday. Mr. Ethridge reported the death of a brother-in-law, Dewitt Thompson, in Vernon County. Mr. Thompson was 84 years old and was an ante-bellum citizen of this county, being a pioneer resident of Washburn Prairie.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. John M. Marlow who have been visiting their uncles, Elijah and John Marlow, north of Cassville, have returned to their home at Kansas City.

Personal and Local News: Miss Dotha Tubbs of Aurora is new central girl at the board of the farmer's Telephone Exchange.

Miss Earle Weds: Miss Cora Earle, daughter of George Earle northwest of Cassville, was married Saturday, July 17th, to Rev. F. A. Whitely of Amarillo, Tex. This wedding was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Earle, a brother of the bride, two miles south of Amarillo.

The groom is one of the prominent ministers of Amarillo and is a pastor of a church in that city.

The bride was one of this county's leading young lady teachers for some time, having taught in both the rural and the town schools of the county. For the past two years she has been teaching in Oklahoma. She was born and reared in this county near Cassville and has a host of friends here who will join the REPUBLICAN in its wish that her married life may be crowned with the greatest happiness and success.

Personal and Local News: Miss Eulah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Chenoweth, 2 1/2 miles southeast of Purdy, will leave Sunday for Kansas City to visit her sister, Miss Florence and many friends.

Personal and Local News: Albert Easley who was engaged in the mercantile business at Mano shipped some clothing which he bought of the Mitchell Clothing Co., to Grove, Okla., Thursday. He will open a store near Grove.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Luther Murray and children of Garfield, Ark., were here last week to attend the funeral of the little babe of Mr. Murray's sister.

Personal and Local News: Chas. Cole and son, Ralph, of Liberty township were Cassville visitors Saturday. Mr. Cole stated that two of his children had the whooping cough.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Porter Potts of Wheaton were in this city Wednesday visiting Mrs. Potts' mother, Mrs. Mary Horner.

Personal and Local News: James Call of Purdy and Joe Keeling of the Shoal Creek locality were transacting business at the county seat Thursday.

Personal and Local News: Will Weston of Bates, Ark., is visiting his brothers, James, Walter and Henry, southwest of Cassville. He had not been back to his old home in this country for twenty four years.

Personal and Local News: J. E. Jordan who was called to Nevada last week on account of the illness of his mother, returned Saturday. He reports his mother still quite ill but chances for her recovery.

Personal and Local News: Erskine and Ermal Williamson of Mano have been visiting their grandmother, Mrs. George Earle, northwest of Cassville.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. E. E. Meador of Monett visited her sister, Mrs. E.W. Love, Sunday.

Personal and Local News: Miss Nannie Hamilton who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Sterling Price, returned home Saturday.

Personal and Local News: Little White McClure of Springfield has been visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Jane McClure and uncle and aunt, J. W. George and Mrs. S. W. Chandler.

Purdy News: F. A. Archibald visited his brother, Scott, in Springfield, Sunday. Scott has recently had a limb amputated below the knee and is doing nicely.

Bethel News: Mrs. Thersa Pool visited her sisters, Mrs. Eph. Davis and Mrs. Wm. Kennedy this week.

Bethel News: Misses Dora, Jewell, Doris and Wilma Browning from Verona Visited Mrs. J. M. Burns Monday and Tuesday.

Arnhart News: Mrs. T. F. Smith's sister of Oklahoma has been visiting her for the past week.

Leann News: W. H. Zinn and Mrs. Martha Hilton were quietly married July 24, both of Leann, Rev. John Allman officiating. The boys serenaded them at night.

Butterfield News: Mrs. Flossie Holder and little daughter, Rena, went to Wayne Friday of last week to visit her mother, Mrs. Robyler.

Line News: Mrs. Jake Miller visited her son, Roy, at Pierce City the latter part of last week. Roy and family brought her home in his car Saturday night and visited until Sunday afternoon.

Line News: It is reported Miss Ivedell Cook has typhoid fever.

Line News: Mrs. May Jones and three little daughters from Galena, Kan., are visiting homefolks, Will Batesls.

Mano News: J. A. Easley and family will leave this week for Oklahoma.

Mano News: Miss Pauline Varner of Washburn Prairie is visiting her sister, Mrs. C. B. Stubblefield.

Charged with Felonious Assault. Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders of this city were placed under arrest Friday, charged with felonious assault. Thurman Rainy is the prosecuting witness.

The trouble arouse over an alleged attack upon Ramy's child by a dog belonging to Sanders.

In the affidavit filed before justice of the peace, Sons, Ramy states that Mr. and Mrs. Sanders shot a him with a shot gun.

The preliminary hearing is set for Thursday, July 29th.
