Lone Elm News: Born to Richard Long and wife a five pound boy.

Lone Elm News: John Long and wife had a sale Saturday and are leaving for Kansas.

Corinth News: Luther Perkins of Oklahoma is staying with his uncle, Dr. H. Perkins, having his eyes treated. They are improving.

Corinth News: Miss Mattie Robbins is very ill with rheumatism.

Washburn News: Harry Woodruff retuned from Kansas City Wednesday where he had been with a load of cattle.

Washburn News: Mrs. Fortner and little daughter of Ash Grove, are visiting her sister, Mrs. L. Bonner and family.

Washburn News: Miss Nancy Senter was married Oct 21st to a gentleman of Aurora (we failed to get his name) where she has been for some months as stenographer for the Menace Publishing Co.

Washburn News: Mrs. A. Roller accidentally fell on the side walk in front of the phone office Thursday and was badly bruised but no bones broken.

Washburn News: Misses Maggie and Octavia Weddell of Shell Knob and Miss Naomi Stubblefield of Pasley were the guest of their cousin, Miss Juanita Henbest, Saturday.

Washburn News: S. Park of Cardin, Okla., returned home Tuesday after a few days visit with is parents, James Park and wife.

Washburn News: Wm. Hodge of Deering, Kan., is visiting is parents, Rev. P. H. Hodge and wife, also his little daughter, Marie.

Oak Ridge No. 1 News: Adrain, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Perkins is sick.

Oak Ridge News: Uncle Henry Greer, an old and highly respected citizen passed away Saturday morning and was buried at Mineral Springs Sunday. He leaves one son, Robert, who was with him to mourn his loss.

Oak Ridge News: Mr. and Mrs. Mark Plummer came over from Seneca, in their car for a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Ross Murphy.

Oak Ridge News: W. A. Anderson died very suddenly Friday morning and was buried at Pilant Cemetery Saturday afternoon.

Line News: Allen Miller had a big horse to die Sunday night caused by being choked. Also James Davis had a mule to die Sunday night. We are having bad luck in this part of the county.

Line News: Mr. and Mrs. Berkley Miller are the proud parents of a baby girl, born on the 19th.

Line News: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smyth of near Mineral Springs was visiting Mate Reynolds and family of this place Sunday.

Purdy News: Mrs. Albert Hadley is reported to be some better than last week. She has been sick for about eight weeks.

Purdy News: Eld. Carlisle of near Butterfield was in Purdy on business Monday. He will go to Oklahoma soon to hold a series of meetings.

Purdy News: Mrs. Morrow who was reported quite sick last week is considered about the same now except some weaker.

Purdy News: D. G. Bennett was brought home from his son's at Pierce City in an unconscious condition last Friday. He is quite old and his family and doctor entertain very little hope of his recovery.

Mineral Spring News: B.C. McCluer and family visited Mrs. McCluer's brother, Mon Gurley and wife, Saturday night.

New Salem News: Oss Sons visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sons, Sunday and attended church at this place.

New Salem News: Mrs. Parolee Jones who is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Trimble is quite sick at this writing.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Freeze of Cassville visited the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Stubblefield, of this place Sunday.

Butterfield News: Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Wallace and daughter, Curtis Ferguson, Mrs. E. B. Ferguson and daughter, Mildred, of Republic motored to the place and spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Ferguson returning home Sunday afternoon.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. A.G. Henbest and sons, Loyd and Oren, of near Monett visited Mrs. Henbest's daughters, Mrs. Oliver Horner and Mrs. Boss Edmondson, east of Cassville and of her relatives here the latter part of last week.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Loren Lemons were called to Sarcoxie Thursday by a message stating that a brother-in-law of Mrs. Lemons', A. Webb, had been seriously injured in a mine at Sarcoxie.

Personal and Local News: Sam Gilmore who has traded for a stock of goods at Butterfield, has also traded his residence property in Cassville to J. L. Vanhorn for the Vanhorn residence property in Butterfield.

Personal and Local News: Miss Mollie Seitz, daughter of Joseph Seitz, of Flat Creek, post office, attempted to take her own life, one day last week by drinking carbolic acid. She seriously objected to moving with the family to Colorado. This was the only reason offered for attending suicide. In telling about the case here Thursday, Dr. Periman of Jenkins, stated that Miss Seitz would recover as what she had done was discovered in time to save her live.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Jane McClure returned Friday night from a week's visit with her son, Charles McClure, at Lawton, and son, W. D. McClure, at Claremore, Okla.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Callaway Black died at her home on Pleasant Ridge in the north part of the county Sunday night. She was the mother of W. O. Black of this city and of Robert, James, Allen, Finis, Aaron and Homer Black. W. O. Black received word Friday that his mother was ill and went immediately to her bedside. Mrs. W. O. Black and Mr. and Mrs. Wilks went Monday to attend the funeral. On account of waiting until Finis, who lives in California could reach home the funeral was not held until Wednesday.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. W.  E. Terry of Sapulpa, Okla., returned home Monday night after a pleasant visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Frost and sister, Mrs. Will Neeley, east of Cassville.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. John Ivey visited their son, Clarence at Monett Sunday. They all motored to Joplin in Clarence's new car.

Person and Local News: Fletcher Wormington, U. S. Lane, Sam McQueen, Wilson Lane, Harrison Smith and others of Purdy are enjoying a few days hunt in the eastern part of the county.

Personal and Local News: Rev. J. Bert Smith of Wilmore, Kan., has been vesting his parents, Rev. and Mrs. C. M. Smith and sister, Mrs. Allen Prevo of Exeter. He was in Cassville Friday hunting up his old friends. Rev. Smith is well located at Wilmore and is doing nicely with his work.

The death angel has visited our home and taken away our beloved husband and father.  Herman Koch was born in Germany, Jan 28, 1846, and departed this life, Oct 13, 1915, age 69 years, 8 months and 15 days. [Click here to read]

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Florence Kirk is at the Wm. Thompson home near Washburn this week on account of the illness of Mr. Thompson.

Personal and Local News: A little two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williamson died Tuesday evening at their home near Mano.

Personal and Local News: Omer Davis came in Wednesday from Idaho and is visiting his father, T. B. Davis, northeast to Cassville.

Personal and Local News: William Thompson of the True Love neighborhood near Washburn is very low and not expected to recover.

Personal and Local News: R. W. Whittington has purchased an automobile. He bought the car in Joplin.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Cora C. Hurt has been appointed administratrix of the estate of her husband, George T. Hurt, deceased. She was in Cassville Wednesday in company with Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Whittington of Eagle Rock.

Personal and Local News: Audrey Sills of Springfield motored to Roaring River and visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Sills, Sunday.

Personal and Local News: W. O. Black was in Pleasant Ridge township last week assisting his brothers in the affairs of the estate of his mother, Mrs. Ellen Black who died Oct 31.

Mineral Springs News: Mr. and Mrs. Lawhorn of Cato are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Hiram Brandon.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mrs. Francis Black died at her home Sunday night, Oct 30. She would have been seventy-one years old November 1. She leaves seven sons and three daughters to mourn her loss besides a host of other relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Spring River Cemetery, Wednesday after funeral service conducted by Rev. Sy Crouch at the house.

McDowell News: Mrs. W. P. George, wife of the late Dr. George of Berryville, Ark., and Mrs. Helen Hobbs of Cassville visited Mrs. John Martin and Mrs. Will Dyer. Mrs. George is an aunt and Mrs. Hobbs a cousin. They also visited Mrs. S. S. Ruddick of near Jenkins.

Oak Ridge News: Born to Paul Cooper and wife Monday, Nov 8, a big boy. Mother and babe doing fine and Paul's smile is measured by the length of his face.

Rock Springs News: Jim Anderson's young mare got her leg broken last Sunday which will be a great loss to him.

Union Valley News: Mabel Still of Cassville spent the latter part of last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cole.

Willow Branch News: Frank Fare is fixing to build a new house.

Sunnyside News: The Wedding brothers are improving the residence on their farm which they purchased of G. W. Trent.

New Salem News: Elmer Richardson has traded his farm here for town property in Carthage and is located there, running a restaurant. Sam Fountain shipped his household goods to Carthage the last of the week.

New Salem News: Noah Anderson visited his daughter, Mrs. Walter Payne, of Monark Springs, from Wednesday till Friday.

Bethel News: Will Henderson and wife, Arlo Moudy and wife and Miss Ester Daugherty visited Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Henderson Sunday.

Washburn News: The little four year old son of Wm. Hickman died Tuesday Nov 2nd of membranous croup. He was buried Wednesday at Washburn Prairie cemetery. We extend sympathy to the bereaved parents.

Washburn News: Mrs. J. A. Pease returned home Friday from Cedar, Kan., where she and been the past two months visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lund and new grandson, Paul Lund. She was accompanied home by her brother-in-law, Geo. Pease, and niece Minnie Pease.

Washburn News: Artie Thomas and Miss Ruth Adcock were married Saturday, Nov 6th, at Cassville. They left immediately for their home in Arkansas where Mr. Thomas has a position with the Frisco Railroad company. The young people were both reared in this community and their many friends extend congratulations.

Roaring Spring News: Grandma Davis died very suddenly Saturday. She was buried Monday in the Munsey Cemetery. She was a well known and highly respected citizen. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the community.

Purdy News: W. S. Carlin is in Cassville this week on the grand jury.

Purdy News: Mrs. W. I. I. Morrow died at her home in Purdy Thursday afternoon after an extended illness. Her funeral was held by Rev. Love at the M. E. Church. The remains were laid to rest beside her first husband, John Burrusss in the Purdy Cemetery. Her children were all present during her last days and did all they could for her but of no avail.

Purdy News: Dexter G. Bennett died at an early hour Friday, Nov 4, at his home in Purdy at the ripe old age of 83 years, and a few days. His condition had been critical for some days and his children and all been notified and were present during the last hours. His funeral was held from the M. E. Church on Friday, conducted by Rev. Goodnight and the remains laid to rest beside his wife who proceeded him in a few years in the Purdy cemetery.

George T. Hurt, a prominent young farmer, living on the old Lewis farm on White River southeast of Eagle Rock, died Wednesday, Nov 3. [Click here to read]

Mrs. Ellen Francis Black was born Nov. 1, 1844 in this county near McDowell. Died Oct 31, 1915. [Click here to read]

J. W. Shelton who had been a citizen of Cassville and locality since 1905 was born in Patrick County, Virginia, Nov 5, 1843, died Nov 2, 1915, of paralysis. [Click here to read]

William Loyd Hutchens was born Oct 19,1847, died Nov 6, 1915, age 68 years and 18 days.  [Click here to read]  

Miss Bonsolene Roberts, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Roberts, was fatally burned Friday evening at their home one mile south of Cassville while cooking supper and died Sunday morning at 4 o'clock, Nov. 7. [Click here to read]

Personal and Local News: Isaac Hutchens and John Taylor have purchased the James Moore barber shop and took charge Tuesday. Mr. Moore is undecided where he will locate.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. M. W. Wooten of Pierce City came over the first of the week to see her aunt, Mrs. Louisa J. Bower.

Personal and Local News: Lynn Peel who has been in Japan for the past seven or eight years is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Peel at Monett.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Jerome and little son of Ft. Smith spent Sunday with Mr. Jerome's, cousin, Wm. Nichol and wife.

Personal and Local News: E. W. Kinnaman is making improvements at his residence property recently bought of H. M. Allen.

Personal and Local News: Grover Fulton of Tar Creek, Okla., spent the first of the week with relatives at Washburn. He is in business at Tar Creek, near Miami, and says he has a good business. He and T. Hickman of Washburn were in Cassville, Monday.

Personal and Local News: Prof. Ben Ray of Butterfield was here Saturday. He is the successful teacher of one of Barry County's crowded schools. However, arrangements are being made by the patrons of that district to build an addition to the school building and add another teacher.

Personal and Local News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Peacock near Mineral Springs, Nov. 10, a son.

Personal and Local News: J. T. Dunlap of the Mt. Zion district south of Eagle Rock was here on business Monday. He spoke of seeing along the road to Cassville a fine field of second crop oats which were in head.

Personal and Local News: Married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John F. McKinney, Thursday morning, Nov 11, Mr. O. L. Rose of Purdy, Mo., and Mrs. Della Overby of Granby. Rev. Martin of Granby officiated. Following the marriage ceremony a morning lunch was served by Mrs. McKinney. In addition to the bride and groom the following quests were present: Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lane, Mrs. Annie Lane, and Mrs. A. J. McKinney of Neosho, Rev and Mrs. Martin and Miss Nellie Overby of Granby. Neosho Daily Democrat.

Monett News: Gilbert Plancheon left Tuesday morning for the San Francisco Exposition. He will stop for several weeks at Santa Ana, Calif., to visit his brothers, Frank and Henry Plancheon, and many other relatives.

Monett News: James Nordin, who has been in San Francisco, Calif., for several months, came home Wednesday for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Nordin.

Flat Creek News: Mrs. Lulu Wiley and baby are visiting at present with the family of Bill Wiley near Scholten.

Willow Branch News: Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Felkins left Monday morning for Kellville, Okla., where they will locate.

Mrs. Louisa J. Bower, passed away Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, at the home of her son, J. M. Bower, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 19 days. [Click here to read]

George A. Hiles, a well known and highly respected citizen of Exeter passed away Thursday morning, Nov 11, at the age of 71 years. Death resulted from a tumor. [Click here to read]

Madry News:  Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hargis who have moved in from Colorado are getting settled in their new home. They like Missouri fine.

Madry News: Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hilton of McDowell visited with her mother, Mrs. Susan Dotson, Saturday night and Sunday.

Mano News: Lee Holman and family visited Floyd Easley and family near Victor Saturday night and Sunday.

McDowell Route 1 News: Mrs. Julia Roark is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Robert Johnson.

McDowell Route 1 News: Mrs. Mattie Flaherty of Webb City has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Long.

Sunnyside News: Little Carl Douglass, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Douglass of White River, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Rose Tilford, Saturday afternoon. The cause of his death was diphtheria. He was laid to rest in Bayless Cemetery, Sunday afternoon. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all.

Sunnyside News: We are glad to know Grandma Carden is now able to walk. A year ago she fell and was crippled but can now be up most of the time.

Shell Knob News: Creed Hamilton is getting ready to move his sawmill into this vicinity.

Shell Knob News: G. W. Shafer and wife are expected in this week from Chandler, Okla.

Cross Hollows News: Noah Widders went to his place to set out some fruit trees, and on his way home he saw a half grown coon cross the road. He caught it and carried it home alive.

Gunter News: Henry Roller from Oklahoma has rented Fred Williamson's farm and will try farming next season. We welcome Mr. Roller to our neighborhood.

Gunter News: F. S. Whittington and son attended the Snider sale on Flat Creek and visited with the family of Sam Blythe.

Sparks News: We understand Earl Shore will move to the Harry Bush place.

Union Valley News: Perry Ledingham and family of Washburn spent Saturday night and Sunday at Bay Smith's.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: W. M. Goins sold a nice bunch of hogs to Roller & Roller of Seligman last week for a good price.

Washburn Prairie News: Matt Sparkman and sister, Miss Aliene spent from Friday night till Sunday night at Springfield.

Mineral Spring News: Mrs. Wm. Ennis is ill.

Butterfield News: Mrs. Will Gray and son of Stafford are visiting relatives here this week.

Seligman News: R. D. Lightfoot who was one of our citizens for years has sold out and left Sunday morning. He was well liked, a good church worker and had a host of friends who will miss him.

Campbell A. Autry one of the prominent and substantial farmers of Corsicana, passes away at his home on Wednesday, Nov 17, of kidney trouble. [Click here to read]

Curtis Freeze, brother of F. A. Freeze, a prominent teacher of this county and Emmett Freeze of the city, was accidentally killed while operating a wood saw near Ridgley Tuesday afternoon about 3 o'clock. [Click here to read]

Personal and Local News: Taylor McGlothin of Washburn, a pioneer citizen of this county, died at his home, Tuesday night and is to be buried today (Wednesday) at Washburn Prairie Cemetery.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Dora Talbert is visiting at Pierce City and will go from there to Tulsa, Okla., to visit her daughter, Mrs. Willie Morris.

Personal and Local News: H. P. Sons, S. M. Cozard, Dr. S. A. Newman, Dr. E. L. Blankenship, Chas. Ray and W. E. Hankins attended the funeral of Campbell Autry Friday.

Personal and Local News: U. S. Lane and sons, Carl and Curtis, and Earl Higgs of near Purdy were in Cassville on business Thursday.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. G. J. Helmers and little son of Kansas City arrived Sunday for a visit with Mrs. Helmers parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Fisher of the Varity Store.
