Personal and Local News: Dr. W. T. Bailey has moved to his residence property known as the Steele property.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Stapleton, mother of Ad Miller, south of town, two miles, is very sick with pneumonia.

Personal and Local News: W. H. Geisler of Sunny Vale, Calif., was the guest of Charles Schlicker east of town the first of the week. He had been to Chicago and was returning home. 

Personal and Local News: Mont Wardlaw of Seligman was called to Cassville Sunday by the death of his little nephew, Mike Wardlaw.

Personal and Local News: James Erwin, father of Recorder Arthur Erwin, and J. W. Hilton, a brother-in-law of Arthur's, were the guests Sunday and Monday. They live at Ozark.

Personal and Local News: Bettie, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Curtis, of Morris, Oklahoma, was buried at Exeter Wednesday of last week. The funeral was conducted by Rev. L. F. Filewood of this city.

Personal and Local News: John R. Sullivan is confined to his home southwest of this city and is reported to be pretty sick of pneumonia.

Personal and Local News: A daughter was born, January 22, to Mr. and Mrs. Horace Stacey and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Shore, on January 24.

Personal and Local News: W. R. Hutchens returned to his home in Illinois Saturday following a week's visit with his sister, Mrs.  J. Edens.

Personal and Local News: Roy Miller of Tulsa, Okla., arrived Thursday of last week to attend the funeral of his adopted father, Jerry Miller, near Cato.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. H. A. Gardner and little son of Monett accompanied Mr. Gardner to Cassville Thursday and spend the day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Galloway.

Personal and Local News: J. C. Pruitt, an old citizen of Pierce City, died at his home there last week. He had lived in Pierce City for more than 40 years.

Corinth News: E. W. Daugherty of Purdy visited his farm near this place one day last week. He also attended the funeral of his little nephew, Eugene Vanzandt.

Corinth News: Mate Reynolds was taken very suddenly last week with something like lumbago which put him in the bed and he is not much better.

Corinth News: We hear that Aunt Polly Weston of Beaver, Ark., is slowly improving.

Hazel Dell News: Harry Gibbons of Waterloo, Ia., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eke Gibbons.

Oak Ridge News: Will Dodge, wife and daughter, visited Mrs. Dodge's mother and brother, Mrs. Anderson and Ed Allison and family Saturday night.

Shell Knob News: Charley Roe is the champion trapper. He has caught fifty dollars worth of fur to date this year.

Shell Knob News: Melvin Madewell is carrying the mails now between Cassville and Shell Knob. It seems that as soon as one gets familiar with the work so as to give good service it is turned over to a new hand.

Shell Knob News: W. J. James is having twenty-five acres of land cleared for cultivation this year. George James and George and Charley McCord will cultivate the same.

Seligman News: Miss Mabel Stapleton had a birthday party Wednesday. She was eight years old. Many of her little friends were present.

Seligman News: Mrs. L. A. Ramey hurt her back Thursday while chasing the town cows out of her yard.

Butterfield News: Mrs. Chas. Eubanks of Prince Albert, Canada, who had been visiting relatives in this vicinity departed for home Thursday.

Oak Ridge News: Mrs. Johnson is contemplating a visit to Chicago with her sisters.

Seligman News: One of our old veterans who has passed through the civil war and through the rain making period in Western Kansas states that our recent heavy rains are caused by the cannonading in the war zones of Europe. He is certain of this and thinks if the war continues until summer it will be too wet for crops.

Personal and Local News: George Linebarger of Exeter lost his residence property by fire Wednesday of last week. He is said to have had $600 in insurance.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. J. H. Thomas is ill of pneumonia. Her sister, Mrs. Gilla short of Marionville, came over Tuesday night to attend her.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Aubry Brown and Mrs. Wm. Houston and a sister of Mrs. Houston of Colorado have been visiting Mrs. James Trolinger.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Dora Lloyd, and husband, of Arkansas attended the funeral of her father, John R. Sullivan, Sunday.

Personal and Local News: Geo. Galloway of Jenkins will move to West Plains. He is a son of Judge M.A. Galloway and a brother of a. L. and Jess Galloway of this city.

Washburn News: J. A. Pease has been quite sick with grippe but is improving.

Washburn News: Mrs. H. Pennington and little daughter returned to their home at Ardmore, Okla., last week after a three week's visit with her parents, J. A. Frost and wife.

Washburn News: John Williams and wife and Mrs. Mollie Williams attended the funeral Sunday of their brother-in-law and uncle, John Sullivan of Cassville who died of pneumonia.

Washburn News: Frank Fine shipped his household goods to Morrisville Saturday where he is moving. He will enter college at that place. His family are visiting a few days with relatives in Monett.

Washburn News: O. S. Smith and family attended the birthday dinner Sunday of their grandmother, Mrs. Tom Barnes at Rock Springs.

McDowell News: Walter Larkin has moved to his farm one mile east of McDowell.

McDowell News: Mrs. Fare and daughter, Mrs. Donnell, have traded their town property to John Jackson for a farm near Madry. They will leave our city the first of March.

Butterfield News: Superintendent W. E. Hankins and wife went to Springfield Friday, returning home Saturday.

Bethel News: Raymond Armstrong of Oklahoma came last Wednesday to live with his uncle John Bertalott.

Bethel News: Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Russell and daughter, Ruth, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Lance and son, Hershel, Vernon Goodnight, and Miss Loraine Ennis, were entertained at dinner Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Erickson.

Bethel News: Henry Schamburgh who has been living in a small cottage near John Bertalott's was found dead Sunday afternoon, Feb 6th by Mr. Bertalott.  [Click here to read]

Shell Knob News: Charley Roe informs us that he has sold $75 worth of furs the last two months. He obtained most of these by trapping.

Abstract: Order of Publication: The State of Missouri at the relation and to the use of J. S. McQueen Collector of the revenue of Barry County, Missouri, plaintiff vs. Samuel L. Henson and Eliza Henson, his wife, and Charles B. Linville for James E. Adams, mortgagee, defendants.

Mrs. Virginia E. Fulbright died at Mt. Vernon last week at the age of 87 years. She was a pioneer citizen of Lawrence county and a member of a well known family. She was the mother of Mrs. H. M. Hansard of Pierce City.

Personal and Local News: Charles Bryant closed a successful term of school in the Calton locality north of McDowell Friday. He taught six months. There will be a spring term taught in that distinct.

Personal and Local News: James Moore and family have moved to Purdy where they own property. Mr. Moore sold his barber shop here a few weeks ago to Isaac Hutchens and John Taylor.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. Josie Harrison of Kansas City is visiting her brother, R. T. Raines and family.

Personal and Local News: W. H. Martin of Pioneer was a Cassville Visitor Monday. He took his auto home with him and promised his friends here that he and Mrs. Martin would use it occasionally in visiting them this spring and summer.

Personal and Local News: J. R. Kinser of Hailey, Farmer Higgs of Shoal Creek, R. W. Whittington and Judge R. H. Elam of Eagle Rock were among the number from a distance transacting business in Cassville Monday.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. T. D. Pitts of Monett who has been sick at the McClure home southwest of this city is reported dangerously ill. She has been ill since the death of her father, Thos. McClure, a few weeks ago and has not been able to go home since that time.  [Research Note: Her name was Cordelia Pauline McClure and her husband was Theophilus Denton Pitts.]

Personal and Local News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Pritchett, west of this city, Feb 18, a daughter.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Thomas were called to Monett last week on account of the illness of Mrs. Thomas' daughter, Mrs. John Chastain.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parrish were Sunday guests of Mrs. Parrish' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Bayless of near Butterfield.

Personal and Local News: Fred Sills has fully recovered from a several weeks attack of lagrippe and is back on duty as City Marshal. He has many friends over the county who are urging him to enter the race for the nomination for sheriff on the Democratic ticket.

Personal and Local News: Ralph Roller who has a position at Westville, Okla., came over Thursday to attend the wedding his sister, Mary.

Personal and Local News: Chas. Bryant went to Springfield Monday to enter the Draughon Business College.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Roy D. Reynolds of St. Louis arrived Friday to attend her mother, Mrs. T. S. Frost who has pneumonia.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Vera Pepple and little daughter, Anna May, have been visiting Mrs. Pepple's uncle, W. S. Hankins, northeast of this city. They returned to their home at Denton, Tex., Tuesday evening. Mrs. Pepple is a daughter of Judge Marshall Hankins and is a cousin of county superintendent W. E. Hankins.

Shell Knob News: Mary E. Epperly has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Susie Goodwin between this place and Berryville School.

Shell Knob News: W. H. Holman and son Elzy were over last week on business and Hylar looks very much as of old.

Mineral Springs News: Mrs. Wm. Holliday is expected home this week from a visit with her daughter.

Union Valley News: Mrs. Mabel Still of near Cassville spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cole.

Union Valley News: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pulley of Washburn spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Ray Smith, and family.

High Point News: L. C. Nickle and Mrs. Minnie Gauney attended the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Rachel Pinkley, last Monday at Exeter.

Cedar Bluff News: Harrison Truhitte and wife, and Fletcher Dodson and wife, are the proud parents of two bounding boys. Harrison and Fletcher are stepping high.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. John Adcock, one of Washburn's oldest citizens was buried at this place Sunday afternoon.

Washburn Prairie News: Albert Church came home Saturday night from Cardin, Okla., and stayed till Monday.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. Sarah Longley and daughter Marjorie returned home Saturday after a week's visit with Otto Ruppert and family of Rocky Comfort.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. Robert Stubblefield of Pasley visited her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Hopkins and family from Wednesday till Saturday.

Gunter News: Mrs. James Smith is quite sick with pneumonia.

Vanzandt News: Mrs. T. D. Pitts of Monett is very sick with paralysis at the home of her brother, Ewing McClure.

New Salem News: The tombstone man from Cassville came down Friday and erected a nice monument at Daniel and Aunt Elizabeth Roller's graves.

Cross Hollows News: Roy Patton and wife are back home again after spending the winter in Jasper County where Roy has been working. Their many friends welcome them back to old Cross Hollows.

Cross Hollows News: The candy breaking at T. J. Laney's Saturday night was well attended. All report a nice time.

Rock Springs Cecil Anderson has been sick with something like appendicitis.

Rock Springs News: Mrs. John Cargile has been very sick.

Rock Springs News: Mrs. Arthur Mahony [Maloney] is very sick at this writing.

Cedar Bluff News: John McPhail who has been sick for some time is able to be up again.

Cedar Bluff News: Miss Eula Jackson, who came down from Lawrence County a short time ago, is real sick with measles at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Manuel Twilligear.

Cedar Bluff News: While on his way home from meeting Wednesday night Rev. Greenway's team became frightened and ran away turning his buggy over, throwing him out, tearing his buggy up. He escaped without any serous injury.

Cedar Bluff News: Miss Pearl Kendall and Wesley Long drove up to I. C. Hemphill's and were married Sunday. Both are highly respected young people.

Butterfield News: John Rhodes of Green Forest, Ark., stopped off here Friday of last week to visit his cousin, Mrs. Tennie Cates, not knowing she had moved to Indiana some months ago.

Flat Creek News: Mrs. Ed Smith who has been waiting on her father, Henry Carney, returned Tuesday to her home near Cape fair.

Leann News: Drs. Miller & Stephens of Aurora came down to perform an operation on Mrs. Effie Richardson's eye last week but found that she was unable to stand the operation, being too weak to be kept under the influence of medicine until the work could be done.

Leann News: T. F. Hobson's little four months old son died Friday, Feb 18 of lagrippe and was buried Saturday at Leann.

Leann News: Walter Owens' family of Baxter, Stone Co., is visiting Mrs. Owens' sisters, Mrs. Willie Allman and Effie Thomas, this week.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. H. O. Abernathy went to Monett Sunday to visit Mrs. C. A. Carlin who is dangerously ill. [Research Note: Callaway Funeral Home Records listed Minerva Carlin the wife of Charles A., and the funeral was on the 10th of March 1916. The services were at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Her death came on 9th of March in 1916. The cause of death was not listed. Buried was at New Site Cemetery.  C. A. Carlin was a Haddock descendant through Charles and Sarah (Collins) Haddock, Jr.  His parents were William Marshall and Nancy (Haddock) Carlin. Mrs. H. O. Abernathy was also a Haddock descendant. Her name was Elizabeth Dora Haddock and her parents were Joseph Franklin and Mary Josephine (Berry) Haddock. Joseph and Nancy Haddock were brother and sister - both were among the children of Charles and Sarah Haddock.]

Personal and Local News: Mrs. James Trolinger has been with her sister, Mrs. Aubrey Brown, at Purdy this week. Mrs. Brown has pneumonia.

Personal and Local News: J. B. Hudson and daughter, Mrs. C. W. Beaver, of Pierce City were seek end guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hadley.

Personal and Local News: A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lester of Monett on Feb 29. Very few people have a birthday only once in four years but this little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Powers will not have another birthday until Feb 29, 1920.

Personal and Local News: C. W. Eden, south of town, returned last week from Rogers, Ark., where he was called by the serious illness of a sister, Mrs. Wm. Miner. He went from Rogers to Bernice and visited his brother, George Eden. [Research Note: Wife of Columbus Walker Edens was Tennessee Van Zandt. His parents were Henry Harrison and Charity Edens.]

Personal and Local News: Dr. Henson of Galena, Mo., visited his sister, Mrs. M. A. Galloway, Monday night. Dr. Henson is the father of Attorneys Chas. Henson of Mt. Vernon.

Personal and Local News: Roscoe Wilks of Wyoming visited his cousin, W. A. Wilks, in this city Friday.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. W. T. Bailey and little sister, Mary Montgomery, returned Thursday evening from a few days visit at Monett.

Personal and Local News: The Monett Times states that J. W. Alderson who has been in the employ of the Frisco at Monett for many years, has reached the age of 70 and has retired in accordance with the Frisco rules. Mr. Alderson formerly lived near this city.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Tucker of near Wayne were county seat visitors Monday. They moved to this county about one year ago from Illinois. The REPUBLICAN office acknowledges a pleasant call.

Personal and Local News: Aubrey Landis of Rolla spent a few days here last week visiting his parents, Judge and Mrs. C. M. Landis. He is well pleased with his new business at Rolla and is doing nicely.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Myrtle Howell of Sarcoxie visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Moore, last week.

Washburn Prairie News: Roy Daugherty and Mrs. Demah Hickem and daughter, Ruth, of Oronogo came Sunday for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Foster. [Hickman]

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bryan and daughter, Florence, of Joplin and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bryan and two children of Louray, Kans., attend the funeral of their father and grandfather, Mr. Fulton.

Washburn Prairie News: Will Kibler and Miss Ethel Fulton of Lockwood, Mo., came last Thursday to attend the funeral of their brother-ion-law and father, Geo. Fulton. They returned home Sunday.

Washburn Prairie News: Geo. Fulton died at the home of his son, Walter, in Dry Hollow March 1, after only a short illness of pneumonia, age 68 years, 1 month and 21 days. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, three daughters, Mrs. Jim Bryan of Joplin, Mrs. Frank Bryan of Louray, Kans., and Miss Ethel of Lockwood, Mo., and two sons, Walter and Will. Mr. Fulton's home was at Joplin. He and his wife were only here for a visit when he took sick. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted by P. H. Hodge, Friday at 1 p.m. at the Washburn Prairie Church after which is body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.

Rock Creek News: The little 19 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Holman is not improving very rapidly. The doctors think an operation is necessary in a short time. He has hip disease.

Mineral Springs News: Miss Dora Ennes and Alfred Young surprised their friends Sunday by driving to the home of Bro. Riddle and having the words said which made them man  and wife. We wish for them a happy life.

Butterfield News: Aunt Sarah Young died Friday, March 3, of the infirmities of old age. After a short service at the residence the remains were interred in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Butterfield News: Horace Gray went to Washburn last week where he has been given permanent charge of the section work. They will move there soon as Mrs. Gray's school is out at Shady Grove.

New Salem News: Mat Lawson is moving today, Monday, to his farm in Dry Hollow.

New Salem News: Misses Eunice and Trixie Hall and Ora Roller were among those that took the examination at Cassville Friday and Saturday.

Seligman News: T. P. Hulsey's mother, Mrs. Goldsborough, of Springdale was visiting him the last of the week.

Seligman News: Walter Payne of near Neosho was down to visit his father-in-law, N. P. Anderson, Saturday night. Mr. Payne was raised in this section and is now one of the leading business men in the Neosho section of the country.

McDowell No. 2 News: Born to Claud Todd and wife a fine baby daughter, March 6.

McDowell No. 2 News: Aunt Lucinda Clemmons who had pneumonia is thought to be some better. She is at her daughter's, Mrs. Will Smith. Her children have all been to see her.

Shady Grove News: Earl Nickle and his sister of Dog Hollow visited their brother, Frank and family, one day last week.

Sunnyside News: Fermon Burkhart came home from Colorado Springs where he has been for sometime for his health.

Sunnyside News: Miss Junia Baldwin and William R. Mitts were united in the holy bonds of matrimony on Sunday, Feb 20th. They among friends gathered at the home of the bride on Wednesday night and gave them an old time charivari. The bride and groom left Thursday for Dodge City, Kan., where they will make their future home. We all wish them a bright and prosperous journey through life.

Horner News: A small child of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Horner is reported sick.

Horner News: Misses Maude Farwell and Annetta Neeley spent Saturday night with Jewette and Blanche Dunn.

Horner News: Miss Marie Skelton of Eagle Rock came up to spend a few days with relatives and friends of this place. [Research Note: Marie was a Haddock descendant through Zachariah Haddock. She was a daughter of John Calvin and Mary Belle (Meador) Skelton. She later married Chester Shields.]

Horner News: A little son of Mrs. and Mrs. Orville Edens has been reported very sick with diphtheria. [Research Note: Orville Edens was married Charlotte Miller, August 24, 1912. He was a son of Columbus Walker and Tennessee (Van Zandt) Edens. And Charlotte Miller was a daughter of W. A. and Susan (Sullens) Miller.]

Union Valley News: J. W. Lee and family of near Cave spring spent Saturday night and Sunday at James Long's.

We are authorized to announce James C. Hemphill of McDonald Township as a candidate for the nomination for Assessor on the Republican ticket, subject to the will of the voters at the August Primary.

Wm. Crow, aged about fifty years, died Thursday morning in the county where he had been incarcerated for sometime under a charge of white slavery. A charge of breaking jail was also against him. He had been sick for about ten days, taking sick first with lagrippe. He is said to have left six children in Arkansas, all under age. His body was buried Friday at the County farm.
