Micah Balcom and his family were among the first families settling in the town of Hague (Warren County, NY). His family was listed in the first official census for the town (1810 Federal Census, Hague, Warren Co., NY).
Micah was among the may men who fought in the American Revolution and lived in Hague. From the Revolutionary War Pension files:
"Micah Balcom enlisted (place not stated) sometime in May 1778, and served seven months as private in Captain Haskell's company in Colonel Marshall's Massachusetts regiment. He enlisted sometime in July or August, 1777, and served four months in Caption Jonathan Rice's company, under Major Bryant, was in the battle of Stillwater, and at the surrender of Burgoyne."
Katherine filed for his pension and received payment of $242.49 on April 11, 1838, with an annual pension of $32.33 per annum - commenced March 4, 1831.
