The

The History of the Town of Hague1 in 1885  states "The town records of Hague up to 1822 have unhappily been lost" and until October 10, 2001 the records remained a mystery. During my annual genealogical trips to the Warren County Clerk's Records Center in the summer of 2002 I came across this great "find":

It seems that the records were buried under a pile of stuff in an old shed (barn). While the shed was being cleaned, someone recognized the old document  had historical value and turned it into the NY State Library which eventually transferred it to the State Archives. With a huge backlog of documents with historical significant value, it was a number of years before "the State"  recognized it as town records belonging to Hague and returned it to the Hague Town Clerk in 2001.

Warren County had received a grant to preserve town records and Hague was quick to volunteer to "go first". The vast majority of the town's records were copied to microfilm. This record book was deemed "too fragile" for the normal microfilming process and was digitally photographed instead.

The book contains the following sections:

HAGUE TOWN MINUTE BOOK  1807 - 1821

HAGUE SCHOOL DISTRICT MINUTES  1813 - 1822

TOWN OF HAGUE EARMARKS 1822 - 1833

The minutes tend to be in chronological order with occasional deviations as "blank space" was utilized in later years. A few of the earlier pages are missing pieces, but most of the pages are relatively easily to read. The index contains a summary of the information included on each page (with dates).

Birth records can be found on the following pages:

The only marriage reference is on Page 05 (Uri Waste).

No deaths are recorded on these pages.
