The following was taken from a Jefferson County, Alabama affidavit documenting the personal information written in the family Bible of Peter Hammond - Laurens County, South Carolina.

The Peter Hammond Bible
STATE OF ALABAMA:
JEFFERSON COUNTY:
Before me the undersigned authority in and for said County, in said State, Personally appeared Will F. Franke, who, being by me first duly sworn, deposes and, on oath, says:
That
on August 3, 1955, he accompanied Mrs. Emma Brown Weiland to the residence of
Mr. Hoyt Herman Hammond, who lives on Route 1, Adger, Alabama, to inspect and
verify family records contained in the old Peter Hammond Bible, which Mrs.
Weiland and her husband , Mr. F. J. Weiland, copied on the 9th of
March, 1938, and which said Bible is now owned by and in the possession Mr.
Hoyt Herman Hammond.
Affiant
avers that said Bible stereotyped by B. and J. Collins, New York and printed
and sold by John Holbrook, Battleborough, Vermont, and dated 1816, as shown on
inside cover sheet.
Affiant
further avers that, with reference to the family records written in said Bible,
he and Mrs. Weiland abstracted said records and same were copied as follows:

June in the year 1752 – died on the 28 of February, 1816.”

of October in the year 1779.”

Notes: (Not in the Bible)
Mrs. Mary Hammonds was wife of Frank Hammond who
died in C. S. A. Grandmother of Hoyt Herman Hammond. Frank Hammond had four
children, 1 son and three dau. This son was Commodore Hammond the father of
Hoyt Herman Hammond. One dau. Mandy married Curtis Howton, and one, Frances,
Young Parsons.
Wife of Butler Boyd Hammond lives with tom Arnett,
1917 Granville Av Se., Bessemer, Ala.
Mrs. Weiland is descended from Miss Rhoda Hammonds,
dau. Peter Hammond, Jr.
