     EDWARD COOKE, Master of Arts Vicar General in Spirituals of the Honourable and Right Reverend Father in God Henry, by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of Gloucester, and of his Episcopal Consistory Official Principal lawfully constituted, to our beloved in Christ Stephen Jackson and George may, Clerks
     
      GREETING, We do by these Presents commit our Power and Authority to you, jointly and severally, (in whose fidelity we fully confide,) to receive the corporal Oath of William Hanks the Son of one of the next of kin of Margaret Hanks late of the Parish of Cheltneham in the County and Diocese of Gloucester Widow deceased, well and faithfully to administer the Goods, Chattels, and Credits, of the said deceased; also to exhibit an Inventory and render an Account according to the Tenor of the Under-written Oath; and also to see the Bond hereunto annexed duly executed by the said William Hanks together with two good and sufficient Sureties; and what shall be done in the Premises, by Virtue of these Presents, ye shall duly certify the same to us, our Surrogate, or some other competent Judge in this Behalf, together with these Presents, and the said Bond hereunto annexed, duly executed as aforesaid, on or before the last Day of September inst otherwise this Commission to be void and of none Effect. GIVEN under the Seal of our Office, this twelfth Day of September in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and eighteen

    THE OATH

    Mr. William Hanks YOU DO SWEAR, That you believe Margaret Hanks late of the Parish of Cheltenham in the County and Diocese of Gloucester, Widow lately died without making any last Will or Testament that you know of; That you are one of the Sons and next of Kin That you will well and faithfully administer the Goods, Chattels, Rights, and Credits, of the said deceased, by first paying the Debts, or so far as the same will thereto extend and the Law charge you; That you will exhibit into the Registry of the Lord Bishop of Gloucester, a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of the said deceased, and render a just and true Account of your Administration thereof, when you shall be lawfully required so to do. You do also swear, that the Personal Property of the said deceased, at the time of her Death, did not amount in Value to the Sum of Eight hundred Pounds

      On the twenty first Day of September 1818
       the above-named William Hanks was duly sworn,
       according to the Tenor of the above-written Commission and
       Oath, by and before me

    Know all Men by these Presents that We William Hanks of Blenheim in the County of Oxford Servant to the Most Noble George Duck of Marlborough Henry Bateman of New Woodstock in the said County Gentleman and William Lord of New Woodstock aforesaid Innkeeper are held and firmly bound unto the Hon-ble of Right Revd Henry Lord Bishop of Gloucester in One thousand sex hundred Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid into the said Lord Bishop or to his certain Attorney his Executors Administrators or Assigns To which Payment well and truly to be make We oblige ourselves and each of us by himself in and for the whole our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals dated the twenty first day of September in the fifty eighth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King Defender of the Faith Vc And in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and eighteen

    The Condition of this Obligation is such That if the above bounden William Hanks Son and Administrator of all and singular the Goods Chattles and Credits of Margaret Hanks late of Cheltenham Widow deceased do make and cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods Chattles and Credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the Hanks Possession or Knowledge of him the said William Hanks or into the Hands and Possession of any Person or Persons for him and the same so make do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Lord Bishop of Gloucester at or before the last day of October, next ensuing and the same Goods Chattles and Credits and all other the Goods Chattles and Credits of the said deceased at eh time of her death which at any time after shall come to the hands or Possession of the said William Hanks or into the hands and Possession of any other Person or Persons for him do well and truly administer according to Law And further do make or cause to be made a true and just Accompt of his said Administration at or before the last day of Sept 1819 and all the Rest and Residue of the said Goods Chattles and Credits which shall be found remaining upon the said Administrators Accompt the same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said Court shall deliver and pay unto such Person or Persons respectively as the said Judge or Judges by his or their Decree or Sentence pursuant to the true Intent and Meaning of a late Act of Parliament made in the two and twentieth and tree and twentieth Years of the Reign of our late Sovereign Lord Kind Charles the Second intituled an Act for the better settling of Intestates Estates shall limit and appoint And if it shall hereafter appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the said deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named to exhibit the same into the said Court making Request to have it allowed and approved accordingly if the said William Hanks above bounden being thereunto required do render and deliver the said Letters of Administration (Approbation of such Testament being first had and made) in the said Court then this Obligation to be void or else to remain in full Force and Virtue

    Know all Men by these Presents that We Mary Hanks of
    Cheltenham in the County and diocese of Gloucester Widow
    John Peart of Gotherington in the same County and Diocese
    farmer and Charlotte Harris of Gotherington a fores and Spinster
    are held and firmly bound unto James Henry Lord Bishop of
    Gloucester and his Successors - -
    in the Sum of Twelve Hundred Pounds ----------- -----------
    of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord
    Bishop and his Successors or to his att--- certain Attorney his or their Executors Adminis
    trators or Assign To which Payment Well and truly to be made We oblige ourselves
    and each and every of us by himself and herself --- for the whole our and
    our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by
    these Presents Seated with our Seals dated the twenty fifth day
    June in the forth Year of the Reigh of our Sove-
    reign Lord William the forth - bu the Grace of God of the United
    Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King Defendr of the Faith , VE? and
    in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and thiry four

    The Condition of this Obligation is such That if Mary Hanks
    Administratrix of all and singular the Goods
    Chattles and Credits of John Hanks late of Cheltenham a foresaid Labourer deceased do
    make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods
    Chattles and Credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the Hands
    Possession of Knowledge of her and the said Mary Hanks
    or into the Hands and Possession of any Person or Persons for
    and the same so made do exhitit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry
    of the Lord Bishop of Gloucester at or before the
    twenty fifth day of December next ensuing and the same Goods
    Chattles and Credits and all other the Goods Chattles and Credits of the said deceased
    at the time of his death which at any time after shall come to the hands or Possession
    of the said Mary Hanks or into the hands
    and Possession of any other Person or Persons for her do well truly administer
    according to Law And further do make or cause to be made a true and just Accompl
    of her said Administration at or before the twenty forth May of June 1835
    and all the Rest and Residue of the said Goods Chattles and Credits which shall
    be found remaining upon the said Administrators Accompt the same being first
    examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said
    Court shall deliver and pay unto such Person or Persons respectively as the said
    Judge or Judges by his or their Decree or Sentence pursuant to the true Intent and

    25th day of June 1834
    On which day appeared personally Mary the Widow
    of John Hanks late of Cheltenham in the
    County and Diocese of Gloucester Labourer and alleged
    upon Oath that the said John Hanks departed this life on the 28th day of March 1834 intestate
    leaving Good Chattels and Credits wholly
    within the Diocese of Gloucester Under the Value
    of Six Hundred Pounds - That she is the
    natural and lawful Widow of the said deceased --
    That she will well & faithfully administer his
    Goods Chattels and Effects and Under an
    Inventory and Account etc.
    Wherefore she prayed Admin
