The Helena Weekly World-Wednesday-March 25, 1896- Helena, Arkansas:
Mr. W. D. Gregory, an old citizen of Phillips County, died yesterday morning at ten O'clock at his home five miles north west of the city, from the results of Arsenical poisoning. As near as the World is advised, Mr. Gregory was in town on Monday and, as he frequently did, indulged in something of a spree. On these occasions he was usually despondent, and had many times threatedned to make wasy with himself. Yesterday morning
he advised his family that he had taken Arsenic, but thinking that he was merely talking they paid no attention to him until he was stricken with convulsion. Then they hastily summoned aid, but he was so far under the influence of the deadly drug that nothing could be done to save him. Aside from his passion for liquor Mr. Gregory was a very clever citizen and a good neighbor. They sad ending of his life is a matter for sincere regret and the World in common with all good citizens will hope that the Giver of all deals more leniently with him that he did with himself.
