James Charles (Stoneall) O'BRIEN Jr.

3 Jun 1892 - 1989

Repository ID Number: I25130

Original Submitter (General Source): [S1040]
Father: James Charles O'BRIEN
Mother: Minnie Hoffman VANDERVEER

Family 1 : Francis M. HAWKINS

Notes

A world traveler who made a living giving lectures on interesting travel destinations, J. Charles O'Brien was also the family historian of his period. The most detailed family trees currently available were prepared by him. In about 1960, he made an audiotape (held by Richard A. Weisiger as of 1995) detailing his knowledge of the O'Brien and Vanderveer families. Three copies of this tape were made and distributed to O'Brien decendents in 1992. He gave sword that once belonged to Richard O'Brien (son of Morris) to Jerome O'Brien (which may have passed to his daughter, Janet Stewart, after Jerome's death in 1995). He died with prostate cancer within 2 weeks of the death of his wife, Ferne. According to Elisabeth O'Brien, he archived a sizable quantity of O'Brien family data into the Huntington Library in Los Angeles before he died.
