Tombstones in Newton Co. MS -
He was a Mason.
Charlie Harrison writes: "The James Walker Harrison story goes like this; On a trip by stagecoach from Nashville TN to his home in Madison Co., AL, he met Naretta Cyprena Jones, who was enroute to Newton Co., MS with her family to establish a new home. James followed the Shadrack Jones family and shortly married Naretta and settled in Newton County. They had four sons; John Thomas, William Henry, Benjamin N., and James L., and three daughters; Sarah (Sallie), Anna, and Martha. William Henry died in the war, although the details of his death remain somewhat muddled for me. The other children lived long lives, and with the exception of Sallie, had many children." [S757]
