The 32nd was a fascinating group of men. Recently I have been talking to others who are researching this unit. The 32nd gave orders only in German. Which I will bet confused more than one rebel soldier.

I am proud to say that John Harmon Harves was in this unit. His brother, John Dieterick Harves, was in the 35th Ind. Inf., which was an Irish outfit.

The men of the 32nd seemed to have to prove themselves to everyone. And that they did. It has been written that they were the finest unit ever to leave the State of Indiana.
