In May of 1997, the U.S. Biographies project was organized by Jeff Murphy, using the established KY Biographies Project as a model. State coordinators were sought to set up their own state project. They were offered the system design and tools created for the KY project, but were free to set up their project in any way they chose.

This page is part of the Utah state page. My name is Vickie, and Im your host for the Utah county portion of this project.

Please visit the new DataBoards here.

Here are the guidelines for submitting a biography, courtesy state coordinator:

Submitting a biography is quite simple. First, review the copyright guideline below and second prepare the biography by typing it up. You can use a text file, html file, or just type it into an e-mail. Attatch the file to the e-mail or place the biography within the e-mail and send it to the appropriate county coordinator. The e-mail address and county site link for each county coordinator is listed on the main Utah Biographies page. Please double check with the county coordinator and their site, as they may have more specific guidelines for preparing biographies which may vary from county to county. If the county doesn't yet have a coordinator or if you are unsure as to where your biography would fit, then send it to the Utah State Coordinator. When creating your biographies, remember to place a heading at the top of each one that identifies your title, source book, author and publication date. You will also need to inclue your own by-line at the bottom of each biography as follows~ Submitted by: Your Name (Your e-mail address) Most importantly: DO NOT post materials with copyright other than your own! Any posted biographies found to be protected with a copyright other than your own must be removed from all Utah and/or county biographies pages. Books and biographies printed prior to 1922 are generally not protected by copyright and are considered to be in the public domain. Photo-static reprints or duplications of pre-1922 works are not protected by current copyright. The short story here is: make sure your source books are pre-1922 originals, or reprints or copies of pre-1922 originals. Make sure all original works are accompanied by your copyright notice, which is at least the word "copyright", your name, and the date. Please be aware that by submitting a biography to the Utah Biographies Project you have givin permission for a representative of the project to examine the biography for the purposes of extracting the names of individuals for indexing purposes. Biographies may also be edited to append the name and e-mail address of the submitter. A photo of your ancestor will be happily accepted and posted along with the bio on this page and the main state page
