F. H. SPRINGER was born in Dyersville,
Iowa, on July 5, 1872, the son of Fred and Bertha (Schoch) Springer, natives
of Germany. The parents came to this country in early days and settled
on a farm in the east. In 1889, the father brought his family to
Lincoln county and continued in the work of farming. He remained
here until his death in 1901. The mother is still living in this
section. Our subject has the following brothers and sisters, August
G., Mrs. Anna McKay, Mrs. Lucy Devenish and Mary. The public schools
of Iowa and Lincoln county furnished the educational training of our subject,
after which he continued with his father on the farm until he was twenty-four
years of age. Then he began farming for himself and continued steadily
at the business until the present time.
In November, 1901, at Spokane, Mr. Springer
married Miss Violet Riley, whose parents were pioneers of the Big Bend
country and now live in Moscow. Mrs. Springer is a member of the
Catholic church and Mr. Springer is an adherent of the same denomination.
In political matters, Mr. Springer takes a
lively interest and has always labored steadily for the advancement of
the country. He is known as a good substantial man and one of the
prosperous farmers in this section.
