A
Biographical Photo Album of my father and our family.

Lou, the 3rd child of
Andrew Henle & Gertrude Carolina Hoehl, was born in Corona, New York. He grew
up with his older brother Andrew ("Sonny") and sister Anna. At the age of
5, Lou became ill with rheumatic fever. Left with permanent heart damage and
murmur, Louie stayed active...

At 9, Lou was struck by a car, but was not hurt. |
Lou and his family
attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Long Island, New
York. Lou and Sonny acted as
alter boys. For years, their father Andrew Sr. was the lead usher for the 9 a.m. mass for
children. During this time, Louie was an avid football and baseball player.
Louie and his buddies
played ball, worked and hung out. The core group didn't change until WWII came
along.
Lou attended Bryant High School in Long Island
City, NY. Taking classes in drafting and art. During the depression, to help
his family, he quit and started working. But somehow he still managed to play
ball...
