Among the many honors he received is The Selective Service Medal from President Harry Truman, for his volunteer service. He also served as a member of the City Council in Butler, MO. A Mason for over 80 years, Dr. Herrmann was a member of Lodge #412, Appleton City, MO; Lodge #254, Butler, MO, and Mt. Anthony Lodge #13, Bennington, VT.

On the occasion of Dr. Herrmann's 104th birthday, The Butler Missouri news-Xpress reported that one Hannah Stark remembered the good doctor. "He fitted me with dentures in 1934...and they're still in my head." She said they were made of porcelain, long-lasting to say the least, and "Oh, yes, they're kinda worn in places after all these years, but still doing the job." She couldn't recall how much her choppers cost, but speculated not very much as, "back then no one had any money." The paper goes on to say, "Stark would have to head the all time list of satisfied customers, don't you think?"

Dr. Herrmann was known for his cheerful demeanor, sense of humor and was often heard singing happily in the halls of the Masonic Home. The day before he passed away, he complimented a nurse on her beautiful teeth, advising her to brush them twice a day. And, although his memory had faded, he recognized his son Dwight up to the very end.

A memorial service will be held for Dr. Herrmann and his wife, Vera Anderson Herrmann, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family requests that contributions in Dr. Herrmann's memory be sent to The Masonic Home,Elizabethtown, PA.
