Merrick and Eleanor Joan Smith. During American Revolution, American General Greene lived in their home (and rather took it over) and, at one point, General George Washington came there for a war counsel. Have known children.

(9) Isaiah Heston, b 20 8th mo 1744, Wrightstown MM, Bucks Co, PA; d 07 9th mo 1785, Wrightstown, Bucks Co, PA; m Middletown MM, Bucks Co, PA, 10 6th mo 1767, Anne Leonard, b 03 12th mo 1742, Huntington Co, NJ, d 22 Jun 1814, dau of Samuel Leonard and either Sarah Brooks or Mary Russell. Isaiah gave up being Quaker and served in the American Revolution. He was wounded at the Battle of Monmouth, 28 Jan 1778, and he suffered from these wounds which crippled him until his death at age 41. Letters of Administration (in lieu of a will) issued for Isaiah, #1190, Upper Makefield Twp, Bucks Co, PA, 1785. Anne and her minor children had to present at Orphans' Court after Isaiah's death. Descendants of Anne Leonard claim the Leonard line can be traced back to King Edward III of England. (Author's Note: I have no direct proof of this.) Direct descendants of this line have been accepted into the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) or Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Have known children.

(1) Mary Heston, b 13 11th mo 1740, Wrightstown, Upper Makefield Twp, Bucks Co, PA; d 29 12th mo 1829, m Wrightstown MM, Bucks Co, PA, 28 6th mo 1758, Joseph Paxson, b 10 9th mo 1733, Solesbury, Bucks Co, PA; d 03 8th mo 1808, Sadsbury, Chester Co, PA; son of Thomas Paxson and Jane Canby. Joseph had goods seized 7 times by American Revolutionary soldiers and he finally moved away to prevent further seizures. Have known children.

Edward m (2nd) by Isaac Howell, Esq., Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, PA, 08 Nov 1784, Sarah Hall, b 16 Apr 1763, Blockley Twp, Philadelphia Co, PA; d 15 Aug 1856, dau of Mahlon Hall and Jane Higgs. Edward stopped being a Quaker and served as a Lt. Colonel in American Revolution; was wounded by a British Cavalry man who almost succeeded in removing Edward's head by a saber swipe from horseback. Edward was a British prisoner of war on Long Island, NY for 9 months. Was a Justice of the Peace and a Judge and State Senator from Philadelphia. Settled Hestonville in Blockley Twp, Philadelphia Co, PA, and was President of the Schuykill Society for the Detection / Conviction and Recovery of horse and mule thieves (an early form of Pickerton Detectives). Many accounts of his life are written in W.W. Davis' History of Bucks County and other historical accounts of the American Revolution. Descendents of Edward are eligible for DAR and SAR. Isaac was in the plumbing business in Philadelphia. Have known children.

Also stopped being Quaker and was an American Revolution Colonel; established Heston Glassworks in Swedesboro, Gloucester Co, NJ. Descendents of this line would also be eligible for DAR and SAR.
