Ron Formby of Scottie Press sent me an email, part of which requested
the following;
"I would welcome a little bit of text - ie what are your hopes for the
Hibernia website. There has been quite a considerable number of churches
closed over the years and I know that many former parishioners (world wide)
wish to be reconnected. On our website projects webpage at (Scottie
Press), there is coverage given to church closures under 'Pastoral
Regeneration'...."
My aim in setting up the Hibernia web site was, to create a resource that
would be helpful to people tracing their Liverpool Irish ancestors. The
Catholic churches played a central part of the in the lives of Irish in
Liverpool during the 1800 & 1900's and therefore the information in the
catholic church registers can be vital in tracing their lives. The main
registers of interest are; Baptism, Marriage and Burial.
As I have helped people over the years, some from overseas (Canada, USA,
Australia, South Africa....) have asked me for photographs of the churches
their Liverpool Irish ancestors attended. So I have decided to put some
church pictures onto this site, while they are still there to be
photographed! Here are some pre. 1900 churches:
