All About Us

Welcome
to
"All About Us"

I chose this wonderful print by Paula Vaughan because it depicts what to me is the perfect home - and also the age Kevin and I will be by the time we can finally afford it!

OK, these first two paragraphs only make sense if you came here from my Genealogy WebSite.  If you came from my Christian WebSite, "My Quiet Place" site, skip to paragraph 3.

After all the history and death certificates and family charts, I thought that it was time for something lighter.  Don't get me wrong, I love an old cemetery as much as the next person, but after compiling data and learning html code and uploading files, I thought that my website needed a more personal touch.   It's easier to e-mail someone with corrections, comments or questions if you feel something of a connection to them, kinda know who they are and where they're coming from.

One of the things I've enjoyed the most during my search for my ancestors is the ever so distant "cousins" I have met along the way, and the "almost cousins" who turned out not to be related, but were just so great that I wish they were.   It is my sincerest wish that by writing this page, maybe I will meet some more "almost cousins," and maybe even another "distant cousin" or two.  You can never have "too much" family.   So, although I have much more data to post on my site, I thought I would stop and take time to talk about my more "immediate" family.  Besides, as a genealogist, you're never done until you trace back to Noah and his flood, so now's as good a time as any.

I live in Northern Kentucky, so I am a southerner, and I say things like y'all and sometimes I am completely unaware when an "ain't" slips out.  I was born and raised here, and grew up in the little church my website honors, Salem.   I am the seventh generation of the Hill family to attend this church and it is very dear to my heart.  Now struggling with dwindling membership and funds, I work very hard just to keep up its precious memories and rich historic cemetery, which is often difficult.   Since our last remodeling of Salem Church, puzzling though it may be, public opinion has turned against us, and we fight to persevere against critical eyes and "wagging tongues," BUT, with God's help, we shall overcome!

As you have probably summized by now, I am a Christian.  Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I believe His way is the only way. Rest assured, I tried my way for a long time and have tested and proved that I am a fool and need Jesus to guide the way.  I believe that the Bible is God's Word breathed, written by man, but not authored by man.   I believe that Jesus Christ was and is the Son of God and came and died for the sins of the world.   I believe He rose from the dead, and lives in the heart of every Christian.    I believe that as Jesus told Nicodemus, you can't simply believe there is a God but must be born again to be received into the Kingdom of Heaven.  I believe that there is power in the blood and Name of Jesus, and that all you have to do is call on Him and He will be there for you.  This being said, I believe that attending church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger.  Christianity is a way of life and an attitude of heart and mind, not a Sunday habit.

My husband and I were high school sweethearts.  I fell in love with Kevin in the 8th grade. We were 1985 High School graduates and 1987 newlyweds.  God had plans for our union, and Satan knew it and tried to keep us apart many times.  Kevin is a minister in the Methodist Church, currently appointed to Brooksville United Methodist Church, but in many ways his ministry is "our" ministry, as God uses us as a team.  Often many of our plans and programs are given to us by God in bits and pieces, not becoming clear to either until we put our heads together.  My ministry pertains mainly to teaching Sunday School and my Christian Website.  If your interested, you can find it HERE .

We have a beautiful daughter named Elyssa MaLeigh.  She is such a joy to me!   I look at her everyday and marvel at the wonder of God that she is.  Some parents can't wait for school to start each fall and send their children off.  Me, I can't wait for summer vacation so that I can be with Elyssa everyday.   She doesn't understand why all mommies don't spend the day in a cemetery taking pictures.   What did we do with ourselves before they were born?  She, being a "big girl" now, has her OWN page.   You can click on her link below to visit her page appropriately entitled, "Elyssa's Page".

Well, I really didn't intend for this page to be so long, but I am a person of "too many words."   I can't give a stranger the time of day without rambling on.  I wanted this page to give the reader a good sense of who I am, and I suppose rambling is just another way of accomplishing that very goal.   For those of you that actually made it through all of this, thanks and God bless you - you must be a very tolerant person.  Please e-mail me if you have any corrections to my data, or additions, or maybe you're one of those "distant cousins," or even an "almost cousin."  I'd love to hear from you regardless.
