Whereas
Ezra Hinshaw
son of
William & Sarah Hinshaw
of Guilford County and province of North Carolina
and
Ruth Marshill
Daughter of
William and Rebeckah Marshill
of Chatham County & province afforesaid
having declared
their intentions of marriage with Each other before several monthly meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek meeting house in
orange County & province afforesaid according to the good order
used amongst them & having
Consent of parents and relations Concerned their
said proposals of marriage was allowed of by said meetings
Now these are to certify whom it may Concern that for the full accomplishing their said intentions this nineteenth day of the second month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy Eight They the said Ezra Hinshaw and Ruth Marshill appeared in a publick meeting of the said people and others at their meeting house at Cane Creek abovesaid: and the said Ezra Hinshaw taking the said Ruth Marshill by the hand did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took her the said Ruth Marshill to be his wife promising with the Lords assistance to be unto her a true faithfull Husband untill Death should seperate them or words to that Effect and then and there in the same assembly the said Ruth Marshill did in like manner openly declare that she took him the said Ezra Hinshaw to be her husband promising with the Lords assistance to be unto him a true and faithful wife untill death should seperate them or words to that purpose And Moreover they the said Ezra Hinshaw and Ruth Marshill she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as further Confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands -- And we being present at the solemnization of said marriage do as witnesses thereunto also subscribe our names the day and year above written -- Ezra Hinshaw twelve names inserted viz
