John Hinshaw
son of
William & Mary Hinshaw
of Guilford County and Province of North Carolina
&
Mary Martin
Daughter of
George & Sarah Martin
of Chatham County & province afforesaid -
having declared
their intentions of Marriage with Each other Before several monthly meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek Meeting House in the
County of orrange and Province afore said according to the good order
used amongst them and having
used amongst them and having [sic]
consent of parents and Relations Concerned their
said Proposals of marriage was alowed By said meetings - - - -
Now these are to Certify whome it may concern that for the full
accomplishing their said intention this
fourteenth Day of the second Month in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred Eighty and one
they the said
John Hinshaw
and
Mary Martin
apeared in a publick meeting of the said People and others at their
meeting House at Rocky River - - - and the said
John Hinshaw
Taking the said
Mary Martin
By the hand Did in a solemn manner openly Declare that he took
her the said
Mary Martin
to be his wife promiseing with the Lords assistance
to Be unto her a true and faithful husband until Death
should seperate them or words to that effect - - - and then
and there in the same assembly the said
Mary Martin
Did in Like manner openly Declare she took him the said
John Hinshaw
to Be her husband Promising with the Lords assistance to Be unto him a
true and faithfull wife until Death should seperate them or words
to that Purpose - - -
- - - And Moreover they the said John Hinshaw and Mary Martin she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the Name of her husband as a further Confirmation thereof Did the and there to these Presents set their hands - - - And we Being Present at the solemnization of the said marriage Do as witnesses there unto also subscribe our Names the Day and year above Written - - - John Hinshaw
