Whereas
Jacob Moon
son of
James moon & Ann moon
of Chatham County & province of North Carolina
and
Ruth Hinshaw
Daughter of
Jesse Hinshaw
and Abigail his wife
of the County & province afforesaid
having Declared their
intention of marriage with Each other before several monthly meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek in
County of Orange and province afforesaid according to the good order
used among them they having
Consent of parents & relations Concerned their
said proposals of marriage was allowed of by the said meeting
Now these are Certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their said intentions this Eighth Day of the Ninth month in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred Eighty & three they the sd Jacob Moon & Ruth Hinshaw appeared in a publick meeting of the sd people at their meeting house at Cane Creek abovesaid & the sd Jacob Moon taking the sd Ruth Hinshaw by the hand Did solemn manner openly Declare that he took her the sd Ruth Hinshaw to be his wife promising with the Lords assistance to be unto her a true and faithfull husband untill Death should seperate them or words to that Effect - - And then and there in the same assembly the said Ruth Hinshaw did in like manner openly declare that she took the said Jacob Moon to be her husband promising with the Lords assistance to be unto him a true and faithful wife untill Death should seperate them or words to the same purpose And Moreover they the said Jacob Moon & Ruth Hinshaw she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the Name of her Husband as a further Confirmation did then and there to these presents set their hands - - - - And we Being present at the solemnization of sd marriage Do as witnesses hereunto also subscribe our names the Day & year above written -- Jacob Moon Twelve inserted Viz
