Micajah Weisner
son of
Mich[..] Weisner Deceased & Ruth his wife
of the County of Surry & province of North Carolina
and
Abigail Hinshaw
Daughter of
Jesse Hinshaw
and Abigail
of Chatham County and province afforesaid
having Declared their
intentions of marriage with Each other before several monthly meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek in
Orange County & province afforesaid according to the good order
used among them they having
Consent of parents & relations Concerned their
said proposals of marriage was allowed of by the said meeting
Now these are Certify
whom it may concern that for the full
accomplishing their said intentions this
eighth day of the ninth month in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred & 83 they the said
Micajah Weisner
and
Abigail Hinshaw
appeared in a public meeting of the said people at their
Meeting House at Cane Creek abovesaid, and the said
Micajah Weisner
taking the said
Abigail Hinshaw
by the hand, did in solemn manner openly declare that he took
her the said
Abigail Hinshaw
to be his wife promising with the Lords assistance
to be unto her a true and faithful Husband until Death
should seperate them or words to that Effect And then
& there in the same assembly the said
Abigail Hinshaw
did in like manner openly Declare that she took him the said
Micajah Weisner
to be her Husband promising with the Lords assistance to be unto him a
true and faithful wife untill Death should seperate them or words
to the same purpose
And Moreover
they the said
Micajah Weisner
and
Abigail Hinshaw
she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the
name of her Husband as a further Confirmation thereof did then and there
to these presents set their hands - - -
and we being present at the solemnization of said
marriage do as witnesses hereunto also subscribe our
names the day and year above written
