Absolom Hinshaw
son of
Absolom and Rebeccah Hinshaw
of Guilford County & province of North Carolina
&
Elizabeth Hinshaw
Daughter of
Jacob and Rebecca Hinshaw
of the County and Province afore said
having Declared
their intention of marriage with Each other Before several Monthly Meetings
of the People Called Quakers at Cane Creek Meeting house in the
County of Orange and Province aforesaid according to the good order
used amongst them and having
Consent of Parents and Relations Concerned their
said proposal of marriage was allowed by the said meetings
Now these are to Certify whome it may Concern that for the full
accomplishing their said intention this
seventh Day of the twelfth Month in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and Eighty ---
they the said Absalom Hinshaw and Elizabeth Hinshaw apeared in Publick meeting of said People and others at their meeting house near the head of Sandy Creek, the said Absolom Hinshaw taking the said Elizabeth Hinshaw By the hand Did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took the said Elizabeth Hinshaw to Be his wife Promiseing with the Lords assistance to Be unto her a true and faithfull husband untill Death should seperate them or words to that Effect - - - and then and there in the same assembly the said Elizabeth Hinshaw did in like manner declare that she took him the sd Absolom Hinshaw to be her Husband with the Lords assistance to be unto him a true and faithful wife untill Death seperate them or words to that purpose - - - And Moreover they said Absolom Hinshaw & Elizabeth Hinshaw she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the Name of her husband as a further Confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands - - - and we being present at ye solemnization of the said marriage do as witnesses thereunto also subscribe our names the day and year above Written - - - Absolom Hinshaw Twelve names inserted Viz
