The Last Will and Testament of Hannah Davis Hinshaw


Last will and testament of Hannah Davis Hinshaw;

I Hannah Hinshaw widow of Stephen Hinshaw Deceast of the County of Randolph and State of North Carolina do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz   That my executors herein after mentioned pay my funeral expenses togeather with all my just debts out of the first money that comes into their hands.

Item 1st I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas Hinshaw one dollar

Item 2nd I give and bequeath to my Son Jacob Hinshaw one dollar

Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my Son Amos Hinshaw 5 dollars and 1 blue coverled

Item 4th I give and bequeath to my Daughter Asenath Cox 1 large flowered dish

Item 5th I give and bequeath to my Daughter Abigail Cox 1 large tin trunk

Item 6th I will that Neri and Abigail Cox be paid for all that they have done for me according to the judgement of Alfred Rains and Aron Stout whatever they may judge to be right

Item 7th I will that my Daughters divide my wearing cloths and bed cloths according to value all to share alike except Jane and Elisabeth not to have so much as the ones that are here to do for me   I will that my check Counter[-unclear-] be put in Asenath's share   My memory quilt in Hannah Bean's

After all is paid for what they have done for me I will that my property be sold and the money that it may bring with all the money on hand after paying all that is mentioned in this will be equally divided amongst my Daughters all to share alike viz Asenath Cox Abigail Cox Jane Cox Ruth Barker Hannah Bean Elisabeth Stout Milicent Barker

I do ordain and appoint David Cox and Neri Cox executors to this my last will and testament declaring all former wills to be void     In witness whereof I have set my hand This the 24th of the 1 month 1880

In the matter of the will of Hannah Hinshaw
Before A M Diffee Probate Judge

David and Neri Cox being affirmed doeth say each for himself
That Hannah Hinshaw, late of said County, is dead, having first made and published her last will and testament, and that they are the Executors named therein.

Further that the property of the said Hannah Hinshaw consisting of personal property only is worth about $40000 so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application; and that Asenath Cox, wife of David Cox, Abigail Cox, wife of Neri Cox, Ruth Barker, wife of Simeon Barker, Elisabeth Stout, wife of Oliver Stout, Hannah Bean, wife of Alson Bean, the heirs of Jane Cox decd, Thomas Hinshaw, Jacob Hinshaw, and Amos Hinshaw are the parties entitled under said Will to the said property.
