Whereas
Jacob Marshill
Son of
John and Ruth Marshill
both of the County of Orange & province of North Carolina and
Margaret Cypert
Daughter of Francis and Charity Cypert
both of the County and province above said Having Declared
their Intentions of marriage with Each other before several monthly meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek in the
County of orange aforesd according to the good order wed amongst
Them and haveing Consent of parents and Relations Concerned their
proposal of marriage was allowed by the said meetings --
Now these are to Certify whom it may Concern that for the full Accomplishing their sd Intentions this Nineteenth Day of the Third Month In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred And sixty seven they the said Jacob Marshill and margaret Cypert apeared in a publick meeting of the said people at their House at Cane Creek aforesaid and the sd Jacob Marshill Taking the said margaret Cypert by the hand Did in solemn Manner openly Declare that he took her the said margaret Cypert to be his wife promising with the Lords assistance to be unto her a faithfull and loving husband untill death should seperate them or words to that affect - and then and there in the said assembly the sd margaret Cypert Did in Like manner Declare that she took the said Jacob Marshill to be her husband promising with the Lords assistance to be unto him a faithfull and loving wife untill Death should seperate them or words to that purpose -- and moreover they the said Jacob Marshill and margaret Cypert she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as a further Confirmation thereof Did then and there to these presents set their hands -- And we being present at the solamnization of the sd marriage do as witnesses hereunto also subscribe our Names the Day and year above written -- Jacob Marshill Twelve names Inserted
