Lucinda Jane Webb

Lucinda Jane Webb, called Janie, was born September 7, 1879, in Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama.  She died July 13, 1949, in Gilmore, LeFlore County, Oklahoma.  She was buried in the Vaughn Cemetery there.  She was the daughter of John Franklin Webb and Pernina Catherine Blalock.  She married four times.

The first marriage was to Charles S. Cook on November 6, 1897, in Clay, Itawamba County, Mississippi.  Her marriage license for Itawamba County, Mississippi, is found in Book 12, page 524.  Charles was born in October 1876, in Indiana, and died between 1901-1904.  They had three children (all listed below).

Lucinda Jane's second marriage was to George T. Goodin.  They married about 1903, probably in Arkansas.  He was the son of Isaac Manson Goodin and Martha Dover of Georgia.  He was born September 16, 1863, in Red Bay, Franklin County, Alabama, and died in a flu epidemic in Roseville, Franklin County, Arkansas in 1917, but before then, he had left her with two small sons and ran off.   The children are listed below.

Then in 1907, after her second husband ran off, she married Matthew Walker Mahorney on June 16, 1907, in Gilmore, LeFlore County, Oklahoma.  Her marriage license is recorded in Poteau, LeFlore County, Oklahoma, on marriage license no. 3422.  He was born on January 18, 1851, in Kentucky.  He was the son of John Thomas Mahorney and Kentucky Happy Clough.  He died March 20, 1924, in Monroe, LeFlore County, Oklahoma, and is buried in Monroe Cemetery.  They had four sons.

About five years after her third husband's death, she married Robert Rigdon Irvin, who was born in 1859 in Mississippi.    Her marriage to R. R. Irvin is marriage record no. 425.  He was the son of Joseph Irvin and Susan Ray.  He had been married for a long time to and had children with Lucinda's cousin, Martha Webb, daughter of Lucinda Emeline Evans and Joseph Webb.  Martha had passed away.  But the children of Martha and Robert Irvin were very unhappy he married Lucinda, and eventually she left him and took back her previous name of Mahorney.  Many of the Irvin line were not even aware of this marriage but we found the marriage record they married December 3, 1929, in Poteau, LeFlore County, Oklahoma.  There were no children from this marriage.

Lucinda, or "Aunt Janie" as she was known, lived on Nail Creekin Gilmore, Oklahoma, and she always let her relatives stay with her.  Many present day descendants of John Franklin at one time or another stayed with her.

She can be found on the 1880 Lamar County, Alabama census with her parents.  She was 7/12.

Then in 1900 she can be found in Beat 4, Itawamba County, Mississippi.
