Lydia Christman, 60, of Lodi died yesterday
evening in a local hospital after a long illness. A native of Eureka, South
Dakota, she grew up there and attended local schools including Eureka College
where she majored in education. She taught in Eureka schools for several
years and 1918 she married her husband Jacob Christman in Leola, South
Dakota where he farmed for several years. They came to Lodi in 1951, and
lived at 405 E. Lodi Ave. Besides her husband she leaves eight children:
Mrs. Irene Schumacher of Lodi; Mrs. Elida Biegler of Granada Hills, Calif.;
Werner Christman of Lodi, Calif., Mrs. Betty Kessler of Eureka; Mrs. Lorene
Libis of Eureka; Marvin Christman of Eureka; Leroy Christman of Auburn,
Calif., Mrs. Dalrene Beckler of Stockton, She was the grandmother of 24.
She was the sister of Mrs. Jacob Eiseman of Eureka, South Dakota; Mrs.
David Sptergelmeir of Britton, South Dakota; Mrs. Christ Steiger of Pacific,
Wash.; John Junker of Eureka, South Dakota; George Junker of Long
Beach; Adoff Junker of Amhest, South Dakota; Albert Junker of Pacific,
Wash.; and the late Mrs. Adolph Steiger of Glenham, South Dakota. She was
a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. Funeral services
will be announced by the Lodi Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lodi Memorial
Park.

Jacob Christman, 67, of 416 N. School St.,
died yesterday morning in a Stockton hospital after a long illness. Born
in South Dakota, Mr. Christman had lived in Lodi for the past 12 years.
For three years he was a tomato inspector for the State Department of Agriculture.
Mr. Christman was a member of the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church
of Lodi. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Lydia Christman of Lodi. He
is survived by the following sons and daughters: Werner Christman of Lodi;
Mrs. Irene Schumacher and Mrs. Darleen Beckler, both of Stockton; Mrs.
Elida Biegler of La Puenta, Calif.; Mrs. Betty Kessler of Greenway, South
Datoka; Mrs. Lorene Lebis and Marvin Christman, both of Eureka, South Dakota;
and Leroy Christman of Auburn, Calif. He is also survived by three sister,
Mrs. Katie Job and Mrs. Pauline Bauer, both of Bismark, North Dakota; and
Maggie Ehresman of Hosmer, South Dakota. Other survivors include 22 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, at 4 p.m., in the Salem
Evangelical United Brethren Church Rev. Theodore Yackel will officiate.
Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park Services are under the direction
of the Lodi Funeral Home.

Gary Lee Christman, 48, of Lodi, died on
Feb. 8. He was born on April 22, 1950, in Eureka, South Dakota. He is survived
by his mother, Kay Kivley of Napa; his father, Werner Christman of South
Dakota; a brother, Wayne Christman of Lodi; and five sisters, Delores Johnson
and Bonnie Troglia of Lodi, Margaret Stroh of Roseville, Donna Kuest of
Napa and Janet Christman of Daly City; and his grantmother, Emma Bieber
of South Dakota. A Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen
Chapel of Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private at
the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be
made to a Charity of the donor's choice.

Werner Christman, 75, of Newell,
South Dakota, and formerly of Lodi, died Dec. 16, at a Fort Meade Veterans
Hospital. He was born on May 16, 1924, in Hillsiew, South Datoka. Mr. Christman
worked on the family farm until his enlistment into the Navy in 1943. He
served three years and took an active role in the D-Day Invasion in 1944.
He was married to Kay Bieber on, Feb. 2, 1946, in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
After his discharge from the Navy, they resided in the Eureka, South Dakota
area for three years. They moved to Pierre, South Dakota, where he worked
as a saleman. He also worked for a dairy. In 1956, he and his family moved
to Lodi. Later he worked in construction and helped build Hogan Dam. He
was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Newell, South Dakota. He
also was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
of Eureka, South Dakota. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived
by his children, Margaret Stroh of Roseville, Wayne Christman and Delores
Johnson of Lodi, Bonnie Troglia of Stockton, Janet Christman of San Francisco,
Donna Kuset of Napa; brothers and sisters, Darleen Becker and Irene Choate
of Lodi, Lorene Libis of Dickinson, North Dakota, Betty Kessler of Witnache,
Washington, and Marvin Christman of Eureka, South Dakota, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Christman; sister, Elida
Biegler; and son, Gary Christman. Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday
at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. Memorials may be made to the charity
of the donor's choice. Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.
Mary Christman, 93, of Lodi , died early
Tuesday morning in a local convalescent hospital following an extended
illness. A native of Russia, she came to this country as a child, settling
in New Leipzig, N.D. with her family. She married Peter Christman in February,
1909. In 1921, the couple moved to the Victor area, where they owned a
vineyard for many years. Mr. Christman died in April, 1952. Mrs. Christman
was a longtime member of the Salem United Methodist Church and was active
in the Martha Circle for many years. She is survived by three daughters,
Mrs. Pauline Melchert of Lathrop, Mrs. Lydia Wilburn of Modesto and Mrs.
Frieda Hemmingway of Tule Lake; three sons, Walter H. Christman of Calt,
Henry Christman of Lodi and Raymond Christman of South San Franciseo; 12
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 2
p.m. in the chapel of in the Gierhart & Wells Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Ronald Greilich of the Salem United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the
charity of the donor's choice.

P. Christman Passes Away, Services for
Peter Christman, who died Saturday at a local hospital following a long
illness will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Salem Evangelical and
United Brethren Church. Mr. Christman, 66, was born in Russia. A Lodian
for the past 31 years, he made his home at 117 N. Central St. He leaves
his widow, Mary Christman, and the following sons and daughters: Walter,
Henry, and Raymond Christman and Mrs. Jack Travis of Lodi; Mrs. Pauline
Melchert of Lathrop; and Mrs. Lydia Wilburn of Modesto. He was the brother
of Henry Christman and Mrs. Lydia Woods of Lodi. Mr. Christman was a member
of the Salem Evangelical and United Brethren Church. The Rev. A. L. Horn
will officiate at the services tomorrow. Interment will be in Lodi Cemetery
under the direction of Wells Funeral Home.
