Will of Ann Dunn, August 24th, 1809, Edgecomb County, North Carolina

In the name od God Amen
I Ann Dunn, of Edgecomb County, & State of N. Carolina, being weak in body but of sound & disposeing mind & memory do this the twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & nine do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following, to wit ;

Item,  I give and bequeath to my grandson  Joshua Dunn ( son of Lamon Dunn ) one feather bed and furniture on which I lie, to him his heirs & assigns forever.

Item,  I give and bequeath to my grandson Anson Dunn ( son of Nicholas Dunn ) one cow and yearling to him and  his heirs forever.

Item,  I give and bequeath to my daughter, Lavrana ? Dunn one small iron pot

Item, I give to my daughter, Lelah ? Dunn my hunting saddle

All my residury? estate of what ever nature or kind it be.  My will and desire is is that it be equally divided between my two daughters, Lavrana Dunn & Lilah Dunn to them, their heirs & forever.

I Ann Dunn, do appoint my beloved son Lamon Dunn my Executor to this my last will & testament. Forsaking and revoking all othere will or manner of wills.

And Lamon Dunn the sole Executor named in the said will was at the same time qualified thereto ordered that the same be certified & this will recorded.

In the Name of God Amen State of South Carolina Fairfield District.Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin Dunn of the State and District aforesaid Knowing that it is appointed once for all men to Die and being weak of Body but of perfect mind and memory do make this my Last will and Testament in the following manner. I give my soul to God who gave it to me.I give my Body to the dust of the Earth from whence it came also I do will all of my Earthly Estate which it has pleased God to bless me with in the following manner.Viz. 1st That four hundred acres of Land whereon William Disaker now lives and has lately Contracted for in case the said Disaker should not comply with the Said contract then in that case for my Executor to have the land Sold for the payment of my Just Debts and if there Should be any over by either of the above named Sales after paying all my Just Debts the remainder to go to the Support of my Two children hereafter named 2nd I will and bequeath to my beloved Wife Mary Dunn one hundred and fifty acres of land more or less where on I now live also Two Negroes Say Big Steven and Nelly,one Black mare & Side Saddle,one Cow & calf to be the best fifty Bushels of Corn & all the fodder that is housed in a Small house the Best Feather Bed and Furniture that I have & one beadstead & all Household & Kitchen furniture that I have for her own Right to will and Dispose of at her pleasure 3rd I will and bequeath to my Two Children Eliza Ann Dunn and Thomas Dunn,Seven Negroes to be equally Divided between them Say Charles, Rose,little Stephen, Jack,Phillis,Bill, Dick or Henry,as their share when they come of age or if Eliza Ann Should Marry before She comes of age the property to be equally divided between them Share & Share alike but if either of them Should die without issue then for the property to go to the other provided neither of them should live to the age of Twenty-one for their Shares to be equally divided between my Two Brothers John and William Dunn Equally Share and Share alike the balance of my property that is not willed I want to be sold(at the) when ever my Executor thinks best and the money that said property Sells for to be laid out by my Executor for the use of my Two Children and I wish my Executor to See to the Raising of my Children to have them Raised and educated by Himself or in any manner that he thinks will be for the best or most profitable for them.Lastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint Thomas I. Cook my Executor to Execute this my Last will and Testament revoking all others

In the name of God. I David Dunn of Oring County being of sound and perfect mind and memory. Blesed be God. Do this thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine make this and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner folling.
That is to say.

First. I give and bequeath to my lovin sister Nancey Love one half of all my property Rail and personel. And my loving Brother Drurrey Dunn the other half of all my property Reail and personeley when or this my last Will and testament. In Witness wheir off I the said David Dunn have to this my last Will and testement set my hand and seal the day and yeir above Written.

Will of Hardyman Dunn; Wake County, North Carolina, Oct. 21, 1822.

In the name of God Amen this 21st day of October A.D. 1822.
Being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertain estate of ----? life and that all flesh must yeild to death when it shall please God to call. do make, constitute, ordain, and declare, this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, revoking, annulling by these presents all and every testament and testaments will and wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or wrighting and this to be taken for my last will and testament and no other.

Item first, I lend unto my beloved wife Lucy Dunn during her natural life the plantation whereon I now live, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lucy Dunn all the stock of horses, hogs, cattle, and sheep, plantation untensils, household and kitchen furniture to her and her heirs forever. I also give to my beloved wife Lucy Dunn one negro woman by the name of Dicey to her and her heirs forever. I also lend unto my beloved wife Lucy Dunn during her natural life the following negro slaves, (to wit) Will, Lines, Abraham, and Milly.

Item, I give and bequeath to my son Hardyman Dunn the plantation where I now live containing two hundred acres more or less after the death of my wife Lucy dunn to him and his heirs forever.

Item, I give and bequeath to my two daughters Nancy Dunn and Candas Dunn the following negro slaves to wit, Mason, Cate, and Fenner, Henderson, Burges and Ruffin, and their increase to be equally divided between them to them and their heirs forever. I also give unto my daughters, Nancy Dunn and Candas Dunn each of them one feather bed and furniture, also one cow and calf to each of them and their heirs forever.

Item, give unto my beloved wife Lucy Dunn seventy seven acres of land more or less, lying on Little River adjoining R? P. Stockland and others to her and her heirs forever.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Jn. Dunn one half of the --- will that appertains unto me,and all the appertainneis there unto belonging ( written above the line, after the death of
my wife Lucy Dunn) to him and his heirs forever.
I also give unto my beloved wife Lucy Dunn one other negro woman by the name of Easter and my will is that my wife Lucy Dunn will hire out from year to year the said woman Easter and the proceeds of the hire to be given unto my son Robert Dunn during his and his wife Nancy Dunn natural life and at the death of my son Robert Dunn and his wife Nancy Dunn the negro woman Easter and her increase be sold and the proceeds thereof be equally divided between the living children of my son Robert Dunn

Item, I give unto my son Hardyman Dunn, one negro woman by the name of Betty and her three children namely Glory, Lines and Mary and their increase to him and his heirs forever.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my grandaughter Polly ?inith, two hundred and fifty dollars to be raised out of my estate and my will is that my executor lay out the said two hundred and fifty dollars in purchaseing a negro boy or girl which I give to her and her heirs forever.

My will and desire is that after the death of my wife Lucy Dunn, that all of my estate not otherwise disposed of to be equally divided betwen the following children (to wit)
my son Benjamin Dunn, my son Jn Dunn, and my son Bolling Dunn and I constitute and ordain my son John Dunn and my wife Lucy Dunn whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day first mentioned

Last Will and Testament of James Dunn (Oct. 12, 1807) of Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland

In The Name Of Almighty God I James Dunn of the City of Baltimore in Baltimore County and State of Maryland, Merchant, being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding (praised be Almighty for the same) do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following.

That is to say. First I do will and direct that all my just Debts, Funeral expences and the charge of the probate of this my Will and all other charges and expences thereto to be paid & discharged by my Executors hereinafter named.-

And. I do give unto my father John Dunn of the Kingdom of Ireland the sum of Five thousand dollars to be paid to him as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

And. I do give unto my Brothers and Sisters the sum of Five Thousand Dollars each, to be paid to them respectively as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

And. I do give unto Mary Armstrong the wife of James Armstrong of the said City of Baltimore (which said James Armstrong is my copartner in Trade) the sum of one thousand Dollars to be paid to her as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

And. I do give unto James Dunn Armstrong the son of the said James Armstrong and Mary his wife the sum of Five Thousand Dollars, and do request my executors hereinafter named either to place the same out at interest or to invest the same in some Public Funds of the United States or in some public incorporated Bank or company as they in their discretion shall think most proper, and as soon as conveniently may be after my decease, and to receive the Interest Dividends and proceeds of the same when and as the same shall become due and payable and pay and apply the same when so received for and towards his maintenance cloathing and education; and to pay the principal sum unto the said James Dunn Armstrong or assign and transfer the same to him when he shall attain the age of Twenty one years. And it is my request and desire that the Interest proceeds and Dividends to accrue and arise upon the said last mentioned sum be received by the said James Armstrong during the minority of his said son and be by him paid and applied for the purposes before mentioned.

And. I give unto my cousin Thomas Orr the son of Joseph Orr the sum of Two Thousand Dollars: and unto my cousin Robert Orr the sum of Three Thousand Dollars: to be paid to them when and as they shall respectively attain the age of Twenty one years without any Interest for the same in the mean time.

And. I do will desire and request that an inventory of my Share Right and Title of in and unto property at Baltimore held in copartnership with the said James Armstrong be made by persons to be appointed by the Orphans Court there and appraisment made of the same; and that my said copartner shall and may take the same to his own use upon paying the amount of such valuation to my Estate, and in case of his refusal to take the same at such valuation then I direct that the same shall be sold and disposed of according to the Laws and customs of the State of Maryland and also that an Inventory & valuation of my share right and Title of in and unto all property in Virginia held in copartnership with Robert Caldwell of Petersburg in Virginia aforesaid, and that my said copartner Robert Caldwell shall and may have and take the same to his own use upon paying the amount of such valuation to my Estate, and in case of his refusal to take the same at such valuation then the same shall be sold and disposed of according to Law, and in case any sale shall be necessary my Executors to have power and authority to sell the same upon a reasonable credit as they in their discretion shall think proper.

And. I do give devise and bequeath all the rest Residue and Remainder of all the Real, personal and mixed Estate and Effects of every kind and Discription of which I shall be seized and possessed at the time of my decease unto my three sisters, to be equally divided amongst them share & share alike and to their lawful issue Respectively such issue to be entitled , share and share alike, to such share as the mother would have been entitled unto in case she had been living.

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said James Armstrong and Robert Caldwell Executors of this my Will, and Lastly I do hereby revoke and make void all former Will or Wills and codicils to the same by me at any time heretofore made and do publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I the said testator James Dunn, have hereunto set and put my hand and Seal this twelfth day of October in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Seven.

Baltimore County ss On the 21st day of October 1807 came William Roseberry, Henry Crabbin and William Hollins the three subscribing evidences to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of James Dunn deceased and made oath etc. That they did see the testator sign and seal this the Will that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound disposing mind memory and understanding that they subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other. Sworn before me Register of Wills for Balt'e. County.

In Testimony that the aforegoing is a free copy taken from the original Will of James Dunn deceased etc.I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of my office this Twenty Second day of October Eighteen hundred and seven.

At a Hustings Court held for the Town of Petersburg at the Courthouse of the said Town Monday the 4th day of January 1808. An authentick copy of the last Will and Testament of James Dunn deceased together with the attestation & certificate of William Buchanan Register of Wills for Baltimore County and the seal of the said office thereto annexed was presented in Court by Robert Caldwell one of the Executors therein named and on his motion are ordered to be recorded, AND on the motion of the said Executor who made oath and together with Francis Lynch & William Cather his security entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of Ten thousand dollars as the law directs certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat of the said Will in due form. Liberty being reserved for the other executor named in the said Will to join in the probat whenever he shall think fit.

Will of Lawrence Dunn; December 9th, 1820, Wayne County, North Carolina

In the name of God Amen
I,  Lawrence, being sick and weak of body but of sound mind and perfect memory, constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit.;

Item 1st,  I give and bequeath fifteen dollars to sister, Bede Dunn, to be paid by my Executors

Item 2nd, I give and bequeath to my brother, Benajah Dunn, ten dollars

Item 3rd,  I give and bequeath to Rachel Dunn, four dollars

Item 4th,  I give and bequeath to my sister, Martha Dunn, five dollars

Item 5th,  I give and bequeath to my sister, Polly Ann Dunn, five dollars

Item 6th,  I give and bequeath all the sesidue of my property, after paying all my just debts, to my brother, Sir John Dunn.
Also I give and bequeath to Sir John Dunn all my land to him and his heirs forever

Will of Lucy Dunn; Wake County, North Carolina.

In the name of God Amen
I, Lucy Dunn of the County of Wake & State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory, and believing that all must once die whenever it shall please God to direct, do make, constitute & ordain this to be my last will and testament, revoking & declaring void all and every other will and testament heretofore by me made in manner and form following. (to wit)

First I give in trust for the purpose here after mentioned to my son Hardiman Dunn  the tract of land  given to me by my husband Hardiman Dunn dec', also the tract of land which I have lately purchased from William Fowler both lying on little River and adjoining the lands of  John P. Strickland  and others and lying & being in the county of Wake and State of North Carolina and containing one hundred and seventy acres more or less for the use and benifits of my son Robert Dunn during his natural life and at his death, I give and bequeath the above described tracts of lands to the children of my said son  Robert Dunn and to their heirs and assigns forever.

Item, I give and bequeath to my son Hardiman Dunn in trust for the use of my son Robert Dunn during his natural life, my negro girl named Dicey, and at the death of my son Robert Dunn, I give and bequeath the said negro girl Dicey to the children of the said Robert Dunn with the increase, from the date of this my last will and testament to them and their heirs forever.

Item, I give and bequeath to my son Hardiman Dunn, in trust for the use of my son Robert Dunn during his natural life, sorrel mare, ten head of cattle, thirtheen head of hogs, six head of sheep, 2 beds, bedsteads and furniture, and at the death of my son Robert Dunn, I give and bequeath the said property to the children of said Robert Dunn, their heirs and assigns forever.

Item, my will and desire is that all the other property of whatever denomination of which I may die possessed, shall be sold by my Executor and the monies of which I die possessed, as well as the proceeds, arising from such sale to be equally divided amongst and between my four sons, to wit, Benjamin Dunn, John Dunn, Bolling Dunn, and Hardiman, and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Hardiman Dunn Executor to this my last will and testament.

In testimony where of I the said Lucy Dunn, have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six.

Will of  Samuel Dunn,  Duplin County, North Carolina
January 28th, 1829,  Proven in Court Febuary Term 1829

Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die. I, Samuel Dunn, of the County of Duplin, and State of North Carolina, being of sound and disposing memory do make this my last will and testament, in manner and form following.

First,  I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to be decently interred.

Secondly,  I give and bequeath unto my nephew, Samuel Dunn Hooks, a certain track or parcel of Land, whereon I now live, beginning in the Reedy Branch, Michael Byros ? line. Thence running up Poplar Branch as it meanders with the Ditch, and from the said Ditch one hundred and fifty yards, a direct North Course. Thence a westerly course, to strike a large ----? on the West side of the Main Road  :  Elias Faison's and Samuel Dunn's corner. Thence with Elias Faison, James Dunn, Bales Wolf, joining  Counerly's and Michael Byros ? line to the Branch, and down the said Branch to the beginning.
( Reserving unto Samuel Dunn his heirs and assigns. also his family connection . one half of an acre of said land to be used as a Family Burying ground, wherein his wife is now buried, and to them alone, In fee Simple and forever.
I also give him the said Samuel Dunn Hooks, the following negroes ; Cato, Chloe, Violet, Clary, and all her children, also two horses, one named Dolphin and one called Medler, two cows & calves, a stock of hogs. which he Samuel Dunn Hooks
---- ? man Richard Wolf , one feather bed and furniture, one --- ? desk, half a dozen of Windsor chairs, also one shot gun, one saddle and bridle, one ox and one horse cart, and one yoke of oxen, and tea table and one common pine table.

Thirdley,  I give and bequeath unto my neice Frances Dunn, daughter of my nephew James Dunn. my negro woman Binch, and her two children, also one feather bed and furniture, and one new beaureau.

Fourthley,  I give and bequeath unto my neice Elizabeth Dunn, daughter of my nephew James Dunn one negro girl called Eliza

Fifthley,  I give and bequeath unto my nephew James Dunn, son of my nephew James Dunn, one negro boy called Shepney ?

Sixthley, I give and bequeath unto my neice Sivie ? Hooks, daughter of David Hooks, one negro woman called Rochele, and her child Ann, and all her increase, one work stand, and one feather bed and furniture

Seventhley,  I give and bequeath unto my nephew James Dunn, his heirs and assigns forever, the remainder of the land that I purchased from my brother William Dunn, say about four hundred and fifteen acres, the other part of said land, I have deeded to him heretofore, all of which tract of land was formerly owned by James Clarke. Also my negro man Cam, now in his possession. also my negro woman Hannah and her six children, Silvia, Alexander, Washington, Tilley, Esther, Mary and their increase.

Eightley,   I give and bequeath unto my brother, Robert Dunn, my gold watch

Ninethley,  I give and bequeath unto my brother William Dunn, all my estate both real and personal of every decription ( not already devised, including lands, negroes, stock, furniture, and goods, and every part and parcel of property which may remain, after giving the legaceys heretofore made and divised

Tenthley,  it is my wish and requeast that my brother William Dunn, shall pay out of his own funds all the debts that I may owe

Lastley,  I nominate and appoint my brother William Dunn and my nephew James Dunn, Executors to this my last will and testament, revoking all other will or wills heretofore made by me, Signed, sealed, and acknowledged, in presence of, this twenty eighth day of January (28th) 1829

In the name of God Amen
I,  Sarah Dunn, of the State of North Carolina and County of Gates, being of sound and perfect mind, sense, and memory, blessed be God for the same. And calling to mind the uncertainty of this mortal life, and knowing that it is appointed for all once to die, do therefore make, and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say; I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it in hopes of joyful resurrection. and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner, and as for what worldly goods it has pleased God to bestow  upon  me.
I give the same as in manner and form following. Viz;

First, I give and  bequeath unto my beloved Husband, George Dunn,  two negro boys the one named Miles, and the other named Daniel. Also Ten  head of cattle, two feather beds and furniture, one chest. I say to him the said George Dunn his heirs and assigns forever.

I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter, Catherine King, one negro girl named Miriam, she and her increase. Also ten head of cattle, one feather bed and furniture, two tables, two chests. I say to her my said daughter Catherine King to her heirs and assigns forever.

I lend to my beloved husband George Dunn, two negro men  the one named Ben and the other named Tom and also one negro woman named Morning. I say to him the said George Dunn for and during the term of his natural life and after his decease to my beloved daughter Catherine King they and she and her increase. I say to her my said daughter Catherine King to her and her heirs and assigns forever. But and if she the said Catherine King should die without heir of her body, then the said negroes  they and she and her  increase, I give unto my neice, Sarah Skinner, daughter of Jesse Skinner I say unto her, the said Sarah Skinner her heirs and assigns forever.

And lastly  I constitute, nominate, appoint, and ordain, George Dunn  and Catherine King, Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former or other wills by me made, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the tenth day of April in the year of our lord one thousand and seven hundred and seventy nine.

Inferior Court of Pleas and quarter sessions 1786 The within will was exhibited into court by Catherine  Benton, Executrix  therein appointed and was proved by the oath of James Knox one of the subscribing witness thereto. Then the said will was ordered to be recorded at the same time the said Executrix came into court and qualified herself for that office and prayed an order for letters and testamentory, thereon what was accordingly granted.

Will of William Dunn, April 24th, 1802, Mecklinburg County, North Carolina

In the name of God, I, William Dunn do make and ordain this my last will and testament, being in perfect mind and memory.
First I give my soul to God who gave it, next I bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Dunn, one bed and its furniture and my Dun Horse with a bald face, and my Bay Mare, while she is a widow and if she should marry, I alow her to give the Bay mare
or her value to my daughter Martha, likewise, I leave her the choice of two cows.

Next, I bequeath unto my beloved daughter Martha, as follows, the colt that my Bay mare's with if she has a colt. likewise her bed and furniture and one heifer named Whitelock and one Red heifer.

Next,  I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Thomas, as follows, my plantation and a bald faced colt that he claims with the tools that belongs to the farm, the loom and tacklins. I alow to stay on the plantation for the use of the family. likewise my shot gun I give to Thomas.

Next, I bequeath to my beloved daughter Margaret one cow and calf, the cow named  Betsy, the remainder of the cows I leave for the use of the family,

Next, I alow my son Thomas, to give to my son Hugh, one years boarding if he sees cause to call for it, in case ---- I am called off without doing it myself.

Next, I leave to my son -in-law Elijah Harton ?  one dollar

Will of  Bolling Dunn, Wake County, North Carolina

     In the name of God Amen I, Bolling Dunn of Wake County, State of North Carolina, do make and ordain and declair this instrument which is written with my own hand and every part thereof to be my last will and testament, revoking all others.

First, I lend to my loving wife, Kezia Dunn, my hole estate both real and personal for the term of her natural life with the prophits arising there from.  After the decease of my beloved wife,

I give unto my beloved son William Dunn the land on which I now live containing Three Hundred and Fifty Eight acres to him and his heirs forever.

My will and desire is that Tempy a negro Girl should be sold and the prophits of her I give and bequeath to my grandaughter Tilatha Taylor in Kentucky State.

The residue of my personable estate consisting of Negroes, house hold furniture, & stock of all kind, with all I posess
them, I give and bequeath to be divided equally between my three children to wit; Jery Dunn, and William Dunn, and Betsey Bell she being the wife of John Bell to them and their heirs forever.

I appoint Jery Dunn and William Dunn soul executors of this my last will and testament, Revoking all former wills , testaments or bequeaths. Declaring this to be my last.

In the name of God Amen,  I Drury Dunn of Wake County, and State of North Carolina, Being in perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my  will in form and manner as followith, ( to wit ).

Inprimer ? I give to my son Aaron Dunn, ten shillings lawful money to him and his heirs.

Item; I give and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Love, one negro garl known by the name of Cloe, also one feather bed and furniture both of which is now in her possession to her and her heirs forever.

Item; I lend to my daughter Sally Rhoads, one negro woman known by the name of  Clunes? and her increase one negro boy called Burton, one bed and furniture to her during life and at her death to be equally divided between her children to them and their heirs forever.

Item; I give to my daughter Polly Dunn one negro garl called Patt and her future increase, one bed and furniture to her and heirs forever.

Item; I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lucy Dunn, one negro woman Cate and her increase, one bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.

Item; I give and bequeath to my son Nathanel Dunn, two negro garls called Velliz? and Feriby, and their increase to him and his heirs forever, also one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever.

I further will and desire that my land and plantation be equally divided between my three sons, Drury, David, and Nathanel at my son Drury arriving at the age of twenty one years, which lands so divided.

I give and bequeath to my said sons, Drury, David, and Nathanel, and their heirs forever.

I futher will and desire that all the rest of my property of what kind soever not already given away be sold and the money arising therefrom be equally divided between my daughters, Sally Rhoads, Polly Dunn, Lucy Dunn, Rutha Dunn, Dillian Dunn and my grandson, Allen Love, I further will and desire that if negroes given to daughter Dillian, or my son Nathanel, or any of them die before they the said Dillian and Nathanel arriving at full age that such Ca?? be made good to them out of my state already mention

Lastly I nominate and appoint Nathanel Jones ( Bridge) and James Peters Esquire my executor to this  my last will and testament hereby revoking all others by me made in witness whereunto I set my hand and seal this July 30th, 1799.

In the name of God Amen, I John Dunn of the County of Wake, State of  North Carolina, Planter being of a perfect mind and disposeing memory, and calling to mind the certainty of death, do make this my last will and testament as follows.
That is first and princeaply, I commend my soul to God and my body to the earth to receive Christian Burial at the Descriston of my executors hereafter named and as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless  me with, I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following. Imprimis.

Item; I give and bequeath to my son Edmon Dunn, I bequeath and do give one negro by the name of Ishmol, and the half of my land whereon I now live, with one bed and furniture.

To my son Lewis Dunn, I bequeath and do give one negro by the name of Scott and half my land, and one bed.

Item; Likewise I bequeath and do give to my daughter Winey Dunn one negro gall by the name Silve and one bed and furniture.

Item; I bequeath and do give to my daughter Betse Dunn one negro by name of Adam and one feather bed and furniture.

Each of these my children are to receive their portion at the age of Eighteen years.

Item; I do bequeath and do give to my well beloved wife, Prudence Dunn one negro gall by the name Riner.

Item; I do leave the rest of my estate in the care of my executor, for the support of my children. One coweing ? horse to be sold for the family's use.

I also do constitute, appoint, and ordain my wife Prudence Dunn, John Forde, of  Susex County, my hole sole Executors of this my last will and testament and do hear by revoke, disanull and make void all former wills, testaments and requests declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament. In the name of God Amen this Eighth day of December One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine.
I, Walter Dunn, being sick and very weak in body but of sound mind and memory, Thanks be given to Almighty God for the same and calling to mind the mortallity of man, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die. I make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God which gave it. My body I recommend to Earth to be buried in a decent Christian Buriel at the discretion  of my Executor nothing doubting but I shall receive the same again at Glorious Resurrection by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly goods as it pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I give and dispose of the same in the manner and form ; After all my lawful debts and funeral charges is paid;

I give to William Dunn, son of John Dunn one bed and furniture

Item, I give to my brother, William Dunn, my proportionable part of this Track of land where my Mother now lives.

Item, I give to said  William Dunn, twenty five pounds current money of the State of North Carolina

Item, I give to my sister Rebekah Dunn, one hundred pounds current money of the State of North Carolina

Item, I give to my two brothers David Dunn and Hardy Dunn, my right to certain piece of  land which I hold by a Lese from Jene Davis, lying on Richmonds hill containing one hundred and thirty five acres with all appertainences thereunto belonging

And all the rest of my estate I give to my two Brothers David Dunn, and Hardy Dunn, to settle up and pay off all my lawful debts. If enough is not enough, all my Legetees are to pay an equal part to make up the balance due, Except William Dunn son of John, I desire him to pay nothing

And I do hereby disannul and disallow all other wills and acknowledge this to be my last will and testament
I ordain David Dunn and Hardy Dunn and John Knose Executors of this my last will and testament

In the name of God Amen, I Hardyman Dunn, of the County of Wake, and State of North Carolina, being of sound and  perfect mind and memory, Blessed be to God, do this the 28th day of January A.D. 1829 make and publish this my last will and testament. To wit ;
First, I give unto my wife Margaret Dunn and her heirs forever my negro man, Stepny, old Betty and
Give Charlotte the tract of land lately bought, of Wm. Jones, containing 243 acres moore or less, my gig & harness, 1 pr. cart wheels, two of my Hoarses named Blaze & doctor, Two thousands pounds of good bacon, forty barrels of corn, all my hay , five cows & calves, three beds & furniture and my side board.

I wish my executor to have a small farm kept on the plantation where I now live and the balance of my negroes on said plantation or as many of them as he think just and those not kept on said plantation if any to be hired out anually until my son Hinchy F. Dunn comes of lawful age. Then I grant my negroes which I have not before given to my wife to be equally divided between my four children to wit, Hinchy F. Dunn, Hardyman H. Dunn, Gaos.? F. Dunn, and my youngest child not yet named. I want each part of the balance of my pershable estate kept on the plantation where I now reside as my executor thinks best and the rest by him to be sold on a Reasonable credit. I wish all of the money that may be raised by the farm and the date of such property as may be sold by my Executor and all thats now due me in any manner after paying my just debts and charges of settleing my estate to be put to the use of clothing and schooling my children before mentioned or as much as may be necessary and such sum of money as may be left after schooling and clothing & boarding of my four children to be equally divided between said children when my son Hinchy F. be comes of lawful age my ??? and intention as respects the property left to my four children before mentioned is as follows, to wit,
When the Eldest one becomes of lawful age for him to draw an equal or one fourth of all my property  both personal and real estate and the balance of the the property then to be again kept together until the next oldest gets of lawful age and so on in  like manner until they all be come of age and get their parts. Lastly I do here by nominate and appoint Joseph Fawby Jr. Execotor to this my last will & testament.

Will of John Dunn  Craven County, North Carolina

In the name of God Amen
I, John Dunn of the State of North Carolina and County of Craven, being of sound mind and memory. Knowing that it is once appointed unto all men to die, wherefore I do make , constitute, and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following Viz;

I give and bequeath unto my son John Dunn, the lower end of my land whereon  I now live. Begining at a certain gum on the side of the main run of little Swifts Creek running from thence through my patent ? by and with a line of regular marked trees to a stake in my patent ? line, on the Savannah side, then with patent lines, down and round to the said beginning gum.

I give and bequeath unto my son Moses Dunn, the upper end of my said patent beginning at the beginning of my patent and running my patent lines to the stake corner of my son John's division, then by and with  his said line of marked trees to the run of Swifts Creek then with the patent line to the begining.

My will and desire is that my beloved wife Rachel, have the use of my mansion house, out houses and plantation, and all nessary praviledges for the use of house and plantation during her widowhood.

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Dun, one cow and calf, and a two year old heifor, and two Ewes and lambs and one sow and pigs and one feather bed and furniture

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachel Dunn, one cow and calf and one two year old heifor and one sow and pigs and one feather bed and furniture

I give and bequeath my son Moses Dunn, one cow and calf and one two year old heifor and one sow and pigs and two ewes and lambs

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Bethany, one two year old heifor, one cow and calf and one chest and my big pot.

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lovey, one cow and calf one two old heifor two ewes and lambs and one sow and pigs and after my wife's decease one feather bed and furniture

My will and desire is that my wife have the use of my horses and stock of every kind also the use of my house hold and kitchen furniture during her lifetime before any of the children can have any of their legasies further than my wife shall admit of.

My will and desire further is to give my son William's two children, one ewe and lamb a piece, and that the ressidue of my personal estate after my wife's decease be subject to make the above legasies good, and then the remainder to be equally divided among and between my children namely, John, Elizabeth, Sally, Rachel, Moses, Bethany, Lovey, and my son Williasm's two children to have the part or share that their father would have had if he had been living.

I hereby revoke, disanul and disallow all former wills by me made.
I constitute, ordain and appoint my two sons John and Moses Executors to this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of January 1816
