This indenture made this 9th day of June in the year A. D. 1830 between
Luke Watkins of the County of Laurel & State of Kentucky of the one
part and Alfred Needham of the same County & State aforesaid of the
other part. Witnesseth, that the said Luke Watkins for and in consideration
of the one hundred & ten dollars, to him in hand paid, the receipt
whereof he does hereby acknowledge, hath this day granted bargained &
Sold and by these presents doth bargain, Sell & confirm unto
the said Alfred Needham his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract
or parcel of Land being one hundred acres which was entered Surveyed &
patented in the name of the sd. Watkins by the Kentucky Land office warrants
one of which is No. Eight thousand six hundred & thirty three, the
other No. fifteen thousand two hundred & Seventy five , and first
named No. is bounded as follows. Viz. Beginning at a Small post Oak &
two small dogwoods thence No 72 W 100 poles to three hickorys thence S.
72 E. 100 poles to a part oak, black oak, & dogwood on Bledsoe's line
thence to the beginning. And the second No. bounded as follows. (to wit).
Beginning at two hickory a red oak & black oak & black Gum. Thence
N. 62 W. 36 poles to a black oak &
dogwood thence S. 4 E. 180 poles to a large forked white oak &
black Gum. Thence S. 80 E. 90 poles to two black oaks thence N. 75 W. 23
poles to a stake thence N. 45 E. 72 poles to a part oak, black oak &
Sourwood thence N. 72 W. 100 poles to three black oaks thence N. 80 poles
to the beginning. To have and to hold the sd. tracts or parcels of Land
with it's appurtenances unto the Sd. Alfred Needham his heirs & assigns
forever, free from the Claim of him the Said Watkins, his heirs &c.
and all persons claiming by through or under them or either of them, will
warrant & forever defend the same. In Witness whereof the Sd. Luke
Watkins & Nancy his wife hath hereunto Set their hands & Seals,
but be it fairly understood, that if the sd. tracts above mentioned Should
ever be lost the sd. Needham is never to have any recourse back on the
sd. Watkins but he
takes it at all risks.

I Lot P i t m a n Clerk of the Court for the County aforesd. do certify
that the foregoing deed from Luke Watkins & Nancy his wife to Alfred
Needham was this day produced to me & acknowledged by Sd. Watkins to
be his act & deed for the purposes therein mentioned. And the sd. Nancy
his wife being by me examined Separate & apart from her sd. husband
freely & willingly relinquished her right of dower to the aforsd. tracts
of Land in the sd. deed mentioned which was again read & explained
to her and did not wish to retract it but was willing the same should be
enetered of record which is done accordingly. Given under my hand the 5th
July 1830.
