Henry Hockley, born on 22 March 1891, in Antelope, Oregon, USA. The son of Daniel (Richard) Hockley and Mary Alice Nunn. At age 12, his family immigrated to Canada (then the North West Territories), they settled in the Big Valley District, Alberta. At the beginning of World War I, Henry answered the call to arms and joined the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force on October 19, 1915. He served until his death in The Battle of Vimy Ridge on 9 April 1917, age 26 years. Private Henry Hockley of the 14th Battalion is remembered with honor at the Nine Elms Military Cemetery, Arras, France.BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE
