Israel's Farm, Great Waltham, Essex

The following page is from the Parish Church Register of Great Waltham.

The family of James Hockley, Farm Bailiff (Israel's Farm) and Eliza Bright Snow of Great Waltham can be found on the Big Tree of Hockleys of Essex compiled by Ruth Hockley.

In 1873, William and Rebecca Puffett are farmers at Israels Farm in Great Waltham, this is the same farm that James Hockley is living at in the 1881 Census, and recorded as Farm Bailiff.  I believe this William Puffett is a nephew of John and Martha Hockley.  Rebecca Puffett is a widow in the 1881 Census living in Romford, Essex with her minor children.  William Puffett died between 1878 and 1881. . . . I think it would be safe to assume that James Hockley moved to Great Waltham because of his mother's family.
