I'm not sure of the date of her birth or the place, but believe it to be either NC or VA. She married my 3 GGrandfather, Solomon Frazier in Russell (now Scott)Co.VA circa 1800. My Grandfather, Solomon Frazier, was b. in Fairfax Co. VA in 1773 and served in the Rev. War alongside his father, John Frazier in the Battle on King's Mt. I have Sinah as the d/o Mary (McCullough)Hogg, who m. Thomas Hogg who d.in WV. I also have that Sinah had brothers Stephen Hogg, Squire Hogg,
and James Hogg. All of these brothers died in KY in either Breathitt or
Letcher Counties.

I do not know anymore than that and I'm looking for any information that is
out there. I have been told that the family started with a James Hogg that
came from Scotland and settled in Kentucky and Tennesse. But I can not
narrow it down to which James Hogg. There are alot of them listed.Austin Rundall Clayton - I am desc. from Phoebe 'Phebe' 'Nancy' Hogg(e) and Augustine 'Austin' Clayton, Jr. He was from the area of Greenville & Spartanburg Counties (SC) c1800 before migrating to the area of Allen, Barren & Warren Counties in KY. Hogg families were nearby (in SC) but I have no idea if they were Phoebe's people. There is some indication that her people might have been in Grainger Co TN with my Claytons on their way to KY. It is also possible that her people were only in KY. Her marriage bond was in the name of Phebe - all of the family history which relates to her refers to her as Nancy. I would love to know if any of this sounds familiar to you.
Bill Garner - My 5th great grandparents are Joseph and Ann(Hogg)Denton. Ann's
father was Gideon Hogg. Gideon was born in Scotland and lived in Caswell
CO.,NC. at the time of the Revolution. He was a private in Colman's Company.
Gideon married Judith ? and ten children were born to this couple:
Ann,Mourning,John,William,Elizabeth,Thomas,Agnes,Gideon Jr.,Judith and
Rebecca. Gideon Sr. died on 17 July 1793 in Caswell NC.
Ann Hogg married Joseph Denton in 1765 in NC. Ann was born in 1745 and died
in Cumberland River section of TN./Ky.. Joseph and Ann(Hogg)Denton children
were:Martha,Agnes,Elizabeth,Susanna and Jeremiah Denton. I would like to

Also I found a VERY OLD copy of James Hogg's book "The Mountain Bard" in an
antique store. It is a very small (about 4"x3"). I did not know of James at
the time but I wrote down his birth year. I checked in with the "Hogg Site"
and found he may be a relative. Could someone let me know if these books are
rare. I am sorry I did not record more information such as publisher etc.. I

Do you know of this family ? I think they spelled their name Hogg-Hog when in Missouri[email protected] - I am searching for the birth dates, parents and family of Ida May Hogg, born aprox. 1873 in W. Virginia. She was probably from the western part of the state. She eventually married James Wilson Mcdonald, settled in Fallsberg Ky., moved to Gallia Ohio, then in the 1920's moved to Glendale California where she died and is buried. Can you provide any info on Ida May?
Bjacksonhale - On my husband's side, I am searching for Finis Ewing Hogg's parents. Finis was born August 19, 1856 in Vienna, Johnson Co., Il. He married Florence Ann Sheerer July 21, 1878. Finis died March 25, 1900 in Mounds, Pulaski Co., IL. He had at least one son, William Calvin Hogg, born August 21, 1879 in Vienna, Johnson Co., Il. William ended up in Fulton, KY, where he died in 1948. Thank you for any information you may have.
TIP #262 - RESIDENTS OF THE OLD KENTUCKY FORTS AND SETTLEMENTS - PART 1:
Early in my contributions to this research site, I ran a series on the old
Kentucky forts and settlements. One thing was missing - a comprehensive
list of those who lived there. Recently, I found a book entitled "Kentucky
in Retrospect - Noteworthy Personages and Events in Kentucky History
1792-1967. The original version was published in 1942 for the
Sesquicentennial of the Statehood of Kentucky; it was reprinted and updated
in 1967 by G. Glenn Clift and the Kentucky Historical Society. I am going
to abstract information from the section on the old forts and settlements
and add other data as I go along. Many names are found at the forts and are
supposed to be relatively complete. However, please refer back to precious
tips as I see a few names are missing.FORT BOONESBOROUGH: This fort was established in 1775 in current day
Madison Co, on the south bank of the Kentucky River. In February of this
year, Capt Wm. TWITTY, James COBURN, James BRIDGES, Thomas JOHNSON, John
HART, WM. HICKS, James PEEKE and Felix WALKER came from Rutherford Co KY.
They traveled on to the Watauga River (Tennessee River) awaiting the
signing of the treaty with the Cherokee Indians. Daniel BOONE was then sent
into the area as an agent for the Transylvania Company. The men mentioned
above under Capt. Twitty and Boone united and proceeded into Kentucky.
Those with the Transylvania Company included Thomas HART, Nathaniel HART,
David HART, John LUTTRELL, William JOHNSON and James HOGG from Orange Co VA
and John WILLIAMS, Leonard Hendley BULLOCK and Col. Richard HENDERSON from
Granville, NC.A petition was issued of the Transylvanians to the Virginia
Convention in May 1776 and contained the following names (per the Filson
