have a bit more information from the Blisland parish Vestry book. I am not sure which county it is from in Virginia but perhaps New Kent. In 1728 there is the following notation:

"John Hogg is apointed a teler of Tobb." His appointment along with that of William Harman continued through the next year.

Also in the parish is William Hogg who is mentioned as being a "Gentleman."

Now does anyone know where these two "gentlemen" fit into the Hogg trees?

Researchers searching for Hoggs in Virginia

Mary Jefferson
- researching Hogg/Hogue

John
- my hog/hogg/hoggs ancestors came to Virginia in early 1600

Betty Frazier Nickell
  -  Hoggs connected to the Fraziers, from Va. and KY

Monika Drew - My line starts with a James Hogg born c. 1650 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Three of his four sons, James, Peter, and Thomas migrated to Augusta County, VA around 1745.  From there
the family moves to Letcher County, KY and then to Rowan County, KY

Debbie Drake Hogue  -  researching the Hogg/Hogue surname from Beaufort, SC area and
Charlestown.  My husband's family lived in Raleigh and some of us now
live in Richmond, VA.

Stan  Smith  -  from Virginia > Kentucky, Ind., Mo, etc in early 1800s

James C. Reeves - In 1682 William Hoge is said to have emigrated from Scotland to New York, whence he soon removed to Perth Amboy, NJ, then to Pennsylvania, and finally to the Valley of Virginia.  He is said to have married Barbara Hume and to have left issue by her of, among others, a son named John, who made his home in Lancaster County, PA.  He had numerous issue by his wife Gwenthleen Bowen Davis, whom he married in 1722.  This issue included four sons, John, Jonathan, David and Benjamin

Carleen Frazier Adlam - I am related to the Hogg family through "Sinah"(Sarah Elizabeth)HOGG, my
3 GGrandmother.  I'm not sure of the date of her birth or the place, but believe it to be either NC or VA.  She married my 3 GGrandfather, Solomon Frazier in Russell (now Scott)Co.VA circa 1800.  My Grandfather, Solomon Frazier, was b. in Fairfax Co. VA in 1773 and served in the Rev. War alongside his father, John Frazier in the Battle on King's Mt.  I have Sinah as the d/o Mary (McCullough)Hogg, who m. Thomas Hogg who d. in WV.  I also have that Sinah had brothers Stephen Hogg, Squire Hogg, and James Hogg.  All of these brothers died in KY in either Breathitt or Letcher Counties.

Cindy  -  The oldest  relative that I am certain on is Muhlenburg/Mullenberg Hogg born about 1791 around the Albermarle Co. Virginia area.  Muhlenberg is a veteran of the war of 1812 in the US.  He served in the Virginia Militia in a unit out of Goochland Virginia.  He was married twice 1st to Mahala White on March 17, 1823, in Nelson County Virginia and 2nd to Mary E. Marion on September 13, 1852, in Albermarle County Virginia.  Muhlenberg and Mahala had several daughters that I cannot track down and he had 9 children with Mary E. Marion. Muhlenberg and Mary lived in Fluvanna County Virginia

Becky - I am up against a wall trying to find the father of Washington Hogg (born
1842, married 3/19/1864 To Meranda Mount, in Indiana???) I believe his
father may be James Hogg born about 1812 in Virginia who married Avilla from
NY. Rumor has it that his father was an immigrant from Ireland named Remy/
Raney Hogg. Suggestions??

Barbara Stellander - I have been trying to find more on a Thomas Oage who arrived in Va in 1618 in the Starr. he was 40 yrs of age. The LDS lists Oage with the Hoggs. do they know something we don,t? I have another name Thomas Oad from VA in 1679 who came up to NJ as a servant. I know that Thomas Oage who I just mentioned had an infant son listed with him and his wife Ann in 1623/1624 in Charles Cittie. I cant find anyone who has done any research on the possibility they may be connected. Am I off the track?

T.Med Hogg - Looking for Rene of Raney Hogg who we think arrived in Virginia about 1800. His son James Hogg or James R. Hogg 1812-1892 who may have been born in Virginia and we think died in Tennessee. If we can find information as to death and burial site we may be able to find information on his father, who is said to have come from Ireland.

James wife, Aurilla Hogg 1813=1888 is buried in Poplar Bluff, MO and we think James may have gone back to Tennessee to live with relatives and died there.

Marion H. Ridpath - My great great grandfather John C. Ridpath married Elizabeth Hogg in Montgomery County, Virginia, June 15, 1847. They were divorced or she died by September 25, 1851/61 because he married again. I have never found any information about Elizabeth. There is no record of their having any children which is somewhat surprising because he had 13 children by his first wife and several more by his third wife. I am rather curious about Elizabeth.

Betty Hogue Ward - I am descendant of Wm Hoge & Barbara Hume. I have been for some time, researching my heritage, I feel like I have hit a brick wall, hope you might be able to turn me around.
