Hello, I am Harriet. My husband is Dick and we have three children, Allison, Alexandria, and Matt.
There are several very good sources for the Preston family on the web. I found a lot of information for Bill Smith's Presbury/Presson/Preston web site as well as the Dukes County, MA web site. I was very lucky in that over the years the Preston family has kept records and information on the family. The information I have is from the hard work of others and I thank them very much, especially Bill Smith.

Notes for James P. Preston:
Montana Historical Society - sketch of James P. Preston, listing place of birth, fathers name. Left parents at age of 17 for California. He mined in Nevada Co. and Yuba Co. Owned one-eighth interest in Blue Gravel Mining Co. Worked in this mine for five years. Sold his interest in the mine in 1862 and went to Florence, Idaho.
In 1888 James filed complaint against Ellen for "absenting herself....without any resonable cause." Ellen was given custody of children.
