Mary Stevens, wife of Daniel McHenry, was a daughter of Uriah Stevens born
June 22, 1758 at New Haven, Conn. She died July 21, 1843 and was the first
person to be buried in the Stillwater Graveyard. Her mother was Martha
Rathbone born in Stonington, Conn.

Uriah Stevens, father of Mary was born in 1724 and died in 1800. He served in
the French and Indian War and was at the relief of Fort William Henry under the
command of his father, Captain Uriah Stevens Sr, in 1757.

Prior to 1766 he removed to Stillwater, N.Y. and later to Wyoming Valley, PA
where he was "Key Keeper". In March 1774 he gave a deed of land in Canaan Conn.
to Zebulon Stevens. Feb 17th, 1778 when his residence was given as Brook
Haven, Westmoreland, Conn.

After the Wyoming Massacre he lived at Tioga Point now called Athens, later at
Newtown now called Elmiray N.Y..

In December 1789 he settled at Canisteo, N.Y. where he joined several others in
the purchase of Upper and Lower Canisteo out of which several towns have been
formed.

His widow died in 1825 at the age of 94 years. His father, Uriah Stevens Sr.,
Captain in the French and Indian War was born at Plainfield, Conn on June 2nd,
1708. He married Sarah Stevens of Stonington, Conn. where he resided in 1739.

He moved to Canaan, Conn. in 1739 and was one of the "Listers" on December 2nd,
1740. He was Constable and Tax Collector in 1744, Selectman in 1744 and the
incorporator of the Town of Canaan on May 28th, 91745. He was Clerk of the
Church in 1753. He was Captain under Col. Ebeneezer Marsh in 1767. He died
October 20th, 1764.
