Message-ID: X-Status: Read X-Mailer: Juno 1.15 (via Mercury MTS (Bindery) v1.31) In response to BAXTER message-is this the James you were looking for -date and place seem ok James was a R.W.S. from S.Carolina. #38218; R #5394. "State of Tennessee, Sumner Co., personally appeared James Hunt, aged about eighty six (on this 10th day of March 1851) was drafted, first, at 15 years of age by State of S. Carolina. His father lived about eighteen miles from Camden on a large creek called 'Hanging Rock'. The enemy, Gen'l. Gates spent the night at his father's plantation before marching on Camden and destroyed all the corn & oats---there was five hundred baggage wagons. It was safer to be in service than at home. When he was discharged and returned home, he found his father's house rifled by the Tories of everything---even to the clothing; so, soon as he returned, he volunteered again--that was in the Summer of 1781. He lived in a remote part of his county and did not knowhis rights (to a pension). He states he was born in Granville Co., N.Carolina the 7th day of Feb. 1765. His father moved brom Granville Co., N.C. to near Camden, S.C., shortly before th War. "In 1805, I moved to Tenessee, where I now live." Children and birthdates are given as listed and it is stated that one daughter married Jonathan Davis. (It is possible that this James is mixed up with James Hunt who died 28 Oct. 1834, in Rutherford Co., Tn., with wife, Christiana.) Sandy in Lubbock
