HENRY HURST

NEW INFO

Recent DNA testing of several English Hursts from the direct line of Henry & various American
Hursts have proven absolutely that there is no relationship between Henry & any of the American
Hurst lines.

The Henry Hurst who was born in Leckhampstead in 1679 was apprenticed to Robert
Willis of the Patten makers' Company in the City of London 2 Jan 1695/6.
He started his apprenticeship in 1695/6, but was not granted his "freedom" until 1705,
well after the usual 7 years. He was still mentioned in the Company of Patten Makers
records up to 1710.

Henry married Sarah Sapsford in Felmersham, Bedfordshire on 19 Sep 1701.
Their first child, Anne, was born 07 May 1702 & baptized 24 May 1702 at St Dunstan
& All Saints, Stepney, London. They had four more children:

William, born 09 Nov 1703;
Sapsford, baptized 11 Apr 1704;
Margaret, baptized 09 Dec 1706;
Sarah, born 08 Nov 1708.

**************

There is no record of a Henry Hurst marrying a Mary Bill in Leckhampstead & no
record of any births to Henry Hurst of a William, John or James in Leckhampstead.
I have photocopies of the Parish Records for Leckhampstead; also Roy Hurst &
Maurice Loaring have searched the parish records, Bishops' Transcripts and many other documents found none.
Both Roy & Maurice are very competent researchers in England and have tried very hard to find out the true facts regarding Henry.
The marriage between Henry Hurst & Sarah Sapsford in Felmersham, Bedfordshire,
Eng. has been confirmed by Don Hurst with a personal visit to Felmersham.

***************

To sum up:

1) Henry Hurst b 1679 in Leckhampstead DID NOT marry a Mary Bill(s) in Leckhampstead
or anywhere else;

2) It was a Hendrick Hurst who married Mary Bill(s) in Boston not the Henry Hurst who
was born in 1679 in Leckhampstead.

3) If the Henry Hurst b 1679 came to the US it had to be after 1710.

4) William, James & John were not born in Leckhampstead.

5) There is no record of a James or John being born to the Henry Hurst who married
Sarah in London.
