25. Photo Eliza Jane POTTER1,2 was born on 19 Jan 1828. She died on 21 Dec 1925 in Cades Cove, Blount Co, TN. She was buried in Cades Cove Primitive Bap. Cem, Blount Co, TN. Eliza Jane was known as a big woman with an even bigger heart. According to Harley Bible, one of her great-grandsons, she would feed and care for sick families when no one else would go near them. She would invite a stranger into her house and feed them if they looked hungry. She was known to feed soldiers of both sides during the Civil War. Harley said she had a favorite phrase she would use when she wanted to make a point. That phrase was "Do say", usually which preceded anything she had to say about a particular subject.

On the lighter side, she was known to smoke a corn cob pipe and to always keep a jug of "corn squeezins'" handy for digestion and medicinal purposes.
