This is a possible connection for Thomas Breshears and Henry Breshears of Lawrenceburg Tennessee connecting to the Etheridge family of Norfolk County Virginia. The Thomas (1) Etheridge reflected here, is possibly the same person who lived adjacent EDWARD BEZER in Chester County Pennsylvania. The Etheridge lineage comes from Mr. Boddie's series of North Carolina lineages.
You will note that many of the collateral connections mentioned in the
Here is the info from Vol X1V, pgs 54 & 55 by BODDIE: Hope this will help someone. Cheers ...Georgene ADAM ETHERIDGE: His will dated April 18, 1735 and probated in Norfolk County May 17, 1735 (D.Bk.l2, p.85; McIntosh, Vol.11, p.164), leaves to his wife Elizabeth land in Paspatank in Albemarle Co., North Carolina; to son Levy; to daughters Lydia and Elizabeth Etheridge; and mentions my wife and three children
On Jul 14, 1743, Levi Etheridge, formerly of Norfolk County, deeded to Thomas Talbutt 66 acres on Tanner's Creek, 2/3 of 100 acres bought by Adam Etheridge of Thomas Mason, and given by Adam to his son Levi (D.Bk.l.,pp.77/8). This deed would indicate that Levi Etheridge was just of age, and born ca 1722 (he does not appear in the tithables through 1736); also, that he had moved away, probably to North Carolina. There must have been some question about this deed, for his mother, Elizabeth Etheridge, sued Levi Etheridge Sept.16 and Nov. 8, 1743, and March 16, 1743/4 (0. Bk. 1742-6, pp. 47, 50, and 58).
The widow is apparently the Elizabeth Etheridge who appears in 1751 in the borough of Norfolk with three negroes as tithables. On Oct.18, 1753, Zachariah Mason deeded to Elizabeth Etheridge of 175 acres that was divided, being given by Thomas Mason in his will, to his son George Mason (George Mason is GEORGENE'S FORFATHER on Eytchison side), father of Zachariah (D.Bk.16, p.168),
and Elizabeth appears in 1754 with three negroes as tithables on the north side of Tanner s Creek; and again in 1767 with three negroes and 60 acres. She died in 1768. The will of Elizabeth Etheridge dated Jan. 23, 1764 and probated May 19, 1768 (W. Bk. l, p.l75) mentions her grand-daughter Mary Creech; grandson Thomas Bayshaw ; son Levi Etheridge; grand-daughter Elizabeth Bayshaw; grandchildren Lydia, William, and Elizabeth Stevens; and appoints her friend Edward Portlock and Thomas Bayshaw executors.
The will would indicate that one of her daughters married a Bayshaw and one a Stevens On June 16, 1768,Levi Etheridge was summoned to contest the will of ELizabeth Etheridge, but was judged by the Court to be non compos mentis (0.Bk.1766-8, page 190). The appraisal of Elizabeth Etheridge, decd., was handed in May 18, 1770 (O.Bk. 1768-71, p.l68)
