Byrns Family

Quick Overview || Documentation || Links

Introduction

The Byrns family was of Scots-Irish origin. The earliest identified ancestors lived in Charleston, South Carolina, shortly after the American Revolution. The next generation moved westward to Tennessee, where they became early settlers in Robertson County. Again, some descendants remain there, while other branches of the family have moved on. The most well-known family member is Joseph Wellington Byrns (1869-1936), Speaker of the House of Representatives during the Seventy-fourth Congress.
