Tankersley family stone

Tankersley Cemetery

This is a private family cemetery located on the Tankersley Ranch which is now the property of Mr. Joe Collins.

The ranch is located along U.S Highway 67 West from San Angelo. At the junction of 67 and Farm to Market 2335, the ranch house can be seen on the right side of Highway 67.

Authorization of the owner is needed to enter and view the cemetery.

In addition to the family cemetery there is a burial plot where those Mexican families who worked on the ranch buried their dead. No head stones are engraved. This burial plot is located a short distance away from the family plot.

The entrance view to the Tankersley Cemetery which is encircled by a wrought-iron fence. The family stone is centered in the burial ground with two large cedar trees on either side. The cemetery gives a peaceful and reverent resting place for those buried there.

Email from Rosemary

The Tankersley ranch house is the only building left in the area at this time. Several years ago I had an occasion to meet the owner of the ranch property at that time, a Mr. Lee, who was well into his 90's. Mr. Lee was so proud of his property and was insistent that I see the antiques in the ranch house, which was in it's self an antique. He truly did own some magnificent antiques including a sideboard and dining table with chairs and many other pieces including a piano. These, said Mr. Lee, had been in his family, in this ranch house for generations. It was easy to look upon this room of antiques and imagine what life was like there many, many years ago when the entire family lived there and maintained the home in a living manner. Sadly Mr. Lee passed away soon after this time.

Those Tankersley family member's buried there are:
