Rebecca Margaret JACKSON, one of two surviving children of JACKSON Family Massacre and recused by the Texas Rangers, after being held captive by the same Indians that had killed four members of her family in 1858. In 1872, she married John Simmons STROUD
John Simmons STROUD born 4 August 1829 in Georgia, died 8 Sept 1907 in Hamilton, Hamilton, Texas.
He was the son of Wiley STROUD and Elizabeth (BURTON) STROUD. He was a widower having married in Arkansas to Elizabeth BROWN, daughter of Stephen and Mary (Unknown maiden name) BROWN, Elizabeth was born 11 August 1835 in Tennessee. She died on died April 11, 1872 in Travis county, Texas. They had seven children together, ranging from 18 to 2 years of age at the time of her death. One son, Bryan S. STROUD preceded her in death

December 1894 married to Missouri Arkansas MILLS on 19 Mar 1874 and then
after she died he married Johnnie Elizabeth PERRY.
3. Wiley Steve STROUD born 5 Dec 1856 in Texas died 6 Sep 1894 married
Margaret M. LOCKER on 29 Jan 1880
4. Andrew I. STROUD born 29 Oct 1861 in Texas and died 7 May 1865
5. Mary Caroline STROUD born 21 Dec 1863 in Travis county Texas and died 13
Oct 1947, she married Thomas Gilbert HILL
6. Martha Ann STROUD born 22 Jul 1866 in Travis county, Texas and died 13
April 1884, married William BELL 31 Jan 1883.
7. John W. STROUD born 9 Mar 1870 in Travis county, Texas and died 25 Dec
1872.

After Elizabeth Brown STROUD's death, John Simmons STROUD married a second time to
Rebecca Margaret JACKSON. They were married on 6 Jul 1872. Besides helping raise and loving the seven children from her husband's first marriage, John and Rebecca were blessed with Ten Children from their union. Their Children are:
1. Ellen STROUD born 6 Oct 1873 in Round Rock, Williamson, Texas and died 5
June 1949, Ellen never married.
2. Laura STROUD born 25 April 1876 in Austin, Travis Texas and died 7 May
1957. Married Willie Curran RUSSELL on 24 Nov 1901.
3. Walter STROUD born 1 May 1878 in Austin, Travis, Texas and death date is
unknown, married Bessie MURPHY 6 Sept 1911.
4. Oscar STROUD born 18 Feb 1880 in Austin, Travis, Texas and died 11 Apr
in 1960 and married Gearldine WILSON 5 Feb 1905.
5. Lydia STROUD born 3 Mar 1881 in Austin, Travis, Texas and died 8 April
1964 and married Lawrence KNOWLES on 14 Jan 1900.
6. Javan W. STROUD born 28 Feb 1883 in Austin, Travis, Texas and died 1
Sept 1895.
7. Ira STROUD born 26 Jan 1885 in Pondspring, Travis, Texas and died 15 Feb
1968 married Neva DOUGLAS.
8. Clarence STROUD born 23 Jan 1887 in Jollyville, Williamson, Texas and
died 26 Mar 1967, married to Carrie GOAR on 22 Jan 1911.
9. Nora Ethel STROUD born 11 June 1889 in Morgan, Bosque, Texas and died 6
May 1932, Married first to Floyd D. DRAKE.
10. Esther STROUD born 18 Oct 1891 in Jonesboro, Coryell, Texas and died in
November of 1976. She married Gould CHAMBLISS 1 Jan 1911.
